If you read the verses around that Paul is talking about speaking of things he doesn't understand and how worthless it would be to those he's preaching to. He isn't talking about speaking in tongues. He's just reiterating how if we know nothing about a subject there is no reason to discuss it, it's just a waste of time and makes us look foolish.

    • @ytmember1
      @ytmember1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Paul knew that his audience wouldn't understand anything he said if he said it in an unknown tongue, which is what today's 'speaking in tongues' is all about. Nobody understands it because it's not a real foreign language, but just a lot of babbling.

    • @biscuits2572

Liza Jane By the way, I have heard tongues that sounds like a lot of babble too, (tho it may not be,) but I have also heard very clearly enunciated tongues. I have been heard praying in Hebrew, Arabic, Fijian, Samoan, Maori, Italian and some strange Asiatic tongue not yet identified. I only know English.
Once I was praying at an altar in tongues and after the service, an Italian brother came to me and asked roughly, (tears in his eyes, ) "When you learn to speaka Italian?!" I was startled and said, "Brother, you know I don't speak Italian." Then he told me that he had been standing behind me while I knelt, praying in tongues, and he heard me pray a message in Italian which he added, his eyes full of tears, "I believa God wanted me to hear!"
There is the real deal Liza, dont be put off. The baptism of the Holy Ghost is like breath is to a body. Bless you.
I also recommend Perry Stones YT video on Speaking in Tongues.

I like and feel what Bro. STONEKING is preaching. Angeles have been in my life. I seen When my grandfather died, 2 Angeles walked through wall of our home, over 2 where my grandfather was lying in bed. they put forth there hand and pulled the soul of my grandfather out of his body. and went back out of the wall where they came.
at the time I called out to dad and mom that 2 white men were taking something out of my grandfather and leaving.
I was only 5 or 6 years old.
I ask mom why was I only one in the family 2 see things like this? Her only response was that, when she was carrying me, that I would be a preacher.

I have now watched several different sermons by Rev.Stoneking on TH-cam. They all have ONE major common characteristic: SENSATIONALISM! Why is virtually every single story in this sermon, astounding, excessive, and hair-raising? WHY? Rev.Stoneking does this in essentially ALL of his sermons!
Let's run down the list of the sensationalized stories in this video, shall we:
    1. It NEVER rains at Masada, Israel. Rev.Stoneking shows up with his tour group--it rains!(Hallelujah! Rev.Stoneking should have traveled to California over the past 4 years, we need rain in a terrible way!)
    2. A rooster crows three times at noon-- EXACTLY where it happened to Peter in Scripture! That never happens. But it did for Rev.Stoneking's tour group! (Incredible!)
    3. A rainbow magically appears over the Sea of Galilee for his tour group.(Magical!)
    4. A woman sees a golden river of light cascading down from Rev.Stoneking's church stairs in upstate New York, which prompted the woman to attend his services. (Illuminating!)
    5. The 23 year old man from Columbus, Ohio, who is a "prophet", who can see-- in the Spirit-- the following:
    a. Not one, but--wait for it--two chairs! (Staggering!)
    b. An end table on only one side of where Rev.Stoneking is sitting! (Astounding!)
    c. An appearance of a guardian angel that looks exactly like Rev.Stoneking while praying in a car. (Miraculous!)
    d. The guardian angel touches Russel's shoulder and says, "Thank you for praying for me." The guardian angel-- of course-- disappears! (Remarkable!)
    e. Russel's own guardian angel then sits next to him in the recently vacated car seat from which Rev.Stoneking's angel just disappeared from. (Of course!)
    f. Russel is familiar with visits from his own guardian angel.(I am jealous, I have never seen MY guardian angel! How can we conjure up our guardian angel Rev.Stoneking?)
And what Scriptures do we have to corroborate these types of spiritual phenomenon? Where does it say SPECIFICALLY in Scripture that we have a SPECIFIC guardian angel? Rev.Stoneking shares NO scripture references with these stories. NONE! (typical)
The story of this "Russel" person seems more aligned with the occult than Holy Ghost. Why does Rev.Stoneking ask him "what is in the room that I am sitting in?" WHY??? What does that have to do with the Spirit of God? What is in a room??? BIZARRE!
So, what are we to make of these shocking stories, told by Rev.Stoneking, almost verbatim, all over the world? I have the HG. I have had it for over 33 years. When I hear this man tell these stories, the HG inside of me (as well as my logic) does NOT verify any of them. I sense within my spirit that this man is telling outright falsehoods! Don't you?
Rev.Stoneking used to tell the story of traveling to Israel with Rev.T.W.Barnes. Rev. Barnes was praying in his hotel room, somewhere in Israel, when all of a sudden a rainbow began swirling into the room, and the archangel Michael appeared, and spoke with T.W. Barnes. The angel said that he was the national guardian angel of Israel.(Amazing! Nowhere found in scripture, but he sure gets the shouts from the UPCI!)
NO SCRIPTURE, fanciful tales, nothing but stories that are never verified for authenticity. This man is now becoming the "Benny Hinn" of the UPCI. He tells the same stories over and over and over and over and over, waiting for the same applause pauses. If he doesn't get a lively crowd, he punctuates his sermons with plentiful amounts of: "clap your hands, let your voices out, shout unto God with the voice of triumph, get your hands in the air." Rev.Stoneking has this charade down to a science. He must not realize that we can see his sermons from all over the world, via TH-cam, and piece together all of his vain repetitions! May God be merciful with such a fallacious and beguiling man of God.

+Touche Turtle Lord, I pray right now that you would touch this man's soul and mind. That you would forgive him for coming against the Lords' anointed. He knows not what he does. He has become jaded to the things of God. Please, Lord, make his ways straight. Show him the fallacy of his thoughts and words. Save his soul, in Jesus name. Amen.

    • @toucheturtle8815
      @toucheturtle8815 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

+KimberlyZ69 Thank you for your elegant prayer. We all need prayer, don't we? :) God does not ask us to check our common sense at the church door. Do you truly believe that YOU are God's anointed--just as much as a minster like Rev.Stoneking? If you don't, please read 1 Peter 2:9:" But YOU are a royal priesthood..."We are ALL God's "priesthood," as a body of believers. Rev. 1:6:" And has made US to be a kingdom of priests..." Even in the OT, God's design was an entire kingdom of priests! Numbers 11:29:"But Moses replied,"Are you [God] jealous for my sake? I [God] wish that ALL the Lord's people were prophets..." There is no such thing as a clergy/laity dichotomy, that was created by the Roman Catholic Church in the 300's AD. That is not scriptural.
To say that Rev.Stoneking has an anointing more than you, or I, is non-scriptural. And "touch not mine anointed" is seldom used IN CONTEXT. The UPCI uses this verse to scare members into silencing any dissent--even legitimate dissent, as I have posted previously. Thanks again for your concern. I mean no disrespect to Rev.Stoneking as a person, just his theological stances and non-verifiable stories. They are dangerous and fallacious. God bless.

    • @KimberlyZ69
      @KimberlyZ69 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes. All who have been born again have the anointing of God on their lives. However, I believe that the more time you spend in the presence of the Lord and submit yourself to Him, the more anointing you have and the more used by God you are. It depends on how hungry you are for God.
As for Bro. Stoneking's stories. I consider them testimonies to build our faith. Just because he tells the same testimonies in different places does not make them false. I believe in visitation's of the supernatural, whether you just feel them or you can see them. I've had a visitation or two myself. There are many ministers outside the UPCI who have had similar experiences.
Anyway, I know of Russel and his family. They are godly people. So I don't doubt what Bro. Stoneking says concerning him. My ex-sister-in-law saw her guardian angel several times as she was growing up. She said he looked like Colonel Sanders with the white hair and beard. I had no reason to think she was lying about that. I think people see them at times when God chooses, to encourage and reassure His people.
Is God not God? Is He limited in any way? Well, yes, I'll answer my own question. Doubt and fear from people limit Him. Other than that, He can do anything, anyway, anytime He wants to.
All I'm saying to that until you've tasted what Bro's Stoneking and Barnes have tasted of, at the level of relationship they are at with God, it is dangerous to judge them on what they've experienced and witnessed for themselves. God bless you too.

    • @toucheturtle8815
      @toucheturtle8815 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+KimberlyZ69 Thank you for your kind reply.
Though Jesus Christ has the miraculous power to do anything, anyway, at anytime, he seldom does. In theory, all things with God are POSSIBLE, this is true (Luke 1:37), but that does NOT mean that all things with God-- actually making them always happen-- are PROBABLE?
Could God send you a million dollars tonight via an angel? Yes, it's POSSIBLE, but it is NOT PROBABLE. Could God save all of our loved one's tonight? Yes, it's POSSIBLE, but it is NOT PROBABLE. Yes, it is POSSIBLE for God to miraculously heal every single person who comes to church, but it is NOT PROBABLE. I think you see my point.
How many UPCI members were NOT healed over all the years in Rev.Stoneking's services? How many UPCI members departed a service of Rev.Stoneking's, and did NOT receive anything miraculous from the Lord? We will never know for sure? (I do not intend for that statement to be derogatory, just a simple fact-- most people are NOT healed by the Lord in a miraculous fashion. It is God's will to do what He pleases, for His own glory.)
What Rev.Stoneking alludes to is that, if you muster enough faith, you WILL be miraculously healed for sure--it's God's will. That gives many people false hope. Most people are NOT healed miraculously. ( I am NOT saying that miracles NEVER happen, because I know for sure that, indeed, miracles DO happen!)
The bottom line for me pertaining to anything of the Spirit is: What does Scripture say?
What does Scripture tell us about WHERE we derive our faith from: The Word of God, obviously--NOT stories. Stories are wonderful testimonies, but they are NOT to supersede the Word, and that is what Rev.Stoneking does repetitively. Other than Rev.Stoneking's opening sermon text, usually containing two obligatory portions of Scripture, he seldom refers to the Bible again, in MOST of his sermons that I have seen. (Other than using 1 John 4:4: "...greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world." in a very generic sense.) Romans 10:17: "So then faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." God COULD have said: faith comes by my Word, and also by the power of your testimony, but He chose not to. God's WORD is even above His name! (Psalms 138:2) What is quick and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword? Stories from a well meaning minister? NOPE! THE WORD OF GOD!
If faith possibly originates, and is magnified, by witnessing miraculous events, why didn't the the disciples develop a powerful, and dynamic faith life-- after witnessing multitudes of miraculous healings, and the casting out of demons, throughout Israel by Jesus Christ? They abandoned Christ, at His betrayal, in a heartbeat, they had little faith after seeing countless miracles. Isn't that shocking?! How in the world could they have done that? They saw-- first hand-- a myriad of miracles, for YEARS! Miracles are NOT what we are to base out faith on. (Please see Matthew 7:21-23.) Thus, Rev.Stoneking, spending hours talking incessantly about miracles, is not building a person's faith life. He is missed hours preaching the actual Word of God! What a shame.
Notice the stark contrast between the attitude of Rev.Stoneking and the attitude of the apostle Paul concerning supernatural experiences:
      1. Please read 2 Cor 11:16 thru 12:10: Paul says that he COULD boast about what he has experienced in the supernatural , but he chose NOT to divulge such information. He spoke of himself in the third person out of sheer humility. He said that he would RATHER talk about his WEAKNESSES in his spiritual life, than anything existentially remarkable! Paul said that he heard inexpressible things, things that a man IS NOT permitted to tell. WHY? I thought that expressing these occurrences would build the faith of the early church??!! Isn't that what Rev.Stoneking is trying to do with his stories-- build people's faith? Paul said that it is NOT ok to talk about what he heard in the "third heaven." Paul mentioned that God gave him a "thorn in the flesh" to KEEP HIM HUMBLE-- and to NOT talk about such heavenly spiritual experiences! Wow! WHY? Because Paul knew his fleshly nature, that by traveling to the NT churches, and telling the saints of all of his spiritual accomplishments, that he might become PROUD!
      2. Now notice the attitude of Rev.Stoneking. He goes out of his way-- for hours-- talking about supernatural experiences, in lieu of preaching a hearty abundance of the Word of God. Is Rev.Stoneking WISER than the apostle Paul? Hardly. There is a pride and an aggrandizement to what Rev.Stoneking portends. That is why I feel to expose such a man. He flies in the face of Scripture, the teachings of Paul, and the Lord Jesus Christ himself. Jesus used ONLY scripture to rebuff Satan after His 40 days of fasting in the Wilderness, not some existential personal testimony of who He was, or a litany of miracles to prove his power.
THE WORD OF GOD is to be our only source for faith-- NOT miracles. Rev. Stoneking needs to follow the example of the apostle Paul, and PREACH THE WORD! God bless!:)

If it is a matter in question, that is a different story, but criticizing his preaching is WRONG! God help your NEGITIVE and judgemental mindset! Especially against a MAN OF GOD!

in the Bible there was a prophet of God, and as he was walking down the road children full is mischief. began to mock and goad him, and making fun of him. these children knew who he was, and a bear came out of the woods and devoured those kids. my point is, be very careful in how you treat God's chosen, unless your fate be as of those children.

+Barbara Cooper Cooper I mean no disrespect to Rev.Stoneking, I am merely obeying Scripture.
1 Thess. 5:21:"Prove [test] ALL things..." (Please notice the word: ALL)
1 John 4:1:"Beloved, believe NOT every spirit, but TRY the spirits whether they are of God..."
2 Tim 3:16:"ALL Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness."
Acts 17:11:"..and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things [Paul's teachings] were so [true]."
Luke 1:3:"Therefore, since I [Luke] myself have currently investigated everything from the beginning..."
People in NT Scripture had major disagreements, and doubts. Paul confronted Peter, to his face, in Gal. 2:13. Paul and Barnabas strongly disagreed whether to take John Mark in Acts 15:38-40.
Has Rev.Stoneking ever declared himself to be a "prophet"? I don't know? God bless.:)

sara currier Sister Sara, just use plain English..Hebrew is not natural to English-speaking people. It sounds kind of pretentious. Jesus always used language that related directly to people, things they were familiar with in his parables; and we should use language that people are familiar with. No offence intended. But it would be better.

I used to be in a UPC church many years ago. I won't say all that happened but our church split up. I went to a trinitarian church..something I thought I'd never do.
I learned a lot from the Lord through those folks, and I learned to respect everyone who truly loves and walks with God. I never changed my doctrine, but I learned from them and off them.
I lived back then and now, in an area where there is no UPC church for hundreds of miles. I have no transport anyway. I am sick of church to tell the truth..I mean, the loud worldly "worship" music and the louzy half-baked doctrine of salvation most of them preach. I still love and respect them for what they *have*, but I am sick of hearing the wishy-washy, edited version of the plan of salvation. I'm allowed to say that after over twenty years of it.
I believe (to whoever will hear this,) with all my heart, that the truth of God in Christ; the "Oneness" truth as the UPC call it; the truth of Jesus Christ being fully God and all of God, is the most important truth in the whole universe.
To know that truth and cleave to it, will get you through the mess that is coming up. You will not turn to Islam or some other religion, if you have etched upon your *heart* that Jesus is God- and only He is God. But cleave to those Scriptures and to Him.
    I wish I had a Christian to fellowship with. I don't.
I want to fulfill my purpose for here on the earth. People *need* what I have to offer.
I know that. I know that we are *each* needed in this end-time harvest.
Please Lord send me someone to pray with. Amen.

      Jesus Christ is God's *son*.
"For God so loved the world that he *gave* His only born *son.*
The Bible tells us to confess that Jesus Christ is God's son, and then God will dwell in us and we in God.
      1 John 4:15.
Jesus Christ, by himself, purged our sins and then sat down at the right hand of God.
Hebrews 1:3 "when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high"
God is Jesus' God and we must worship The very same God whom Jesus Christ worships.

No, it plainly says it is The Almighty speaking in Rev 1:8.
*It is YOU asserting that The Almighty is Jesus.*
Read all of Rev 1; there are 3 different people speaking in this chapter; John, God and Christ.
      Also read Rev 1:6
"And hath made us kings and priests *unto God and his Father;* to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
*The above is speaking about Jesus' God and Father.*
That's right! There is ONE God, and Jesus is His son!

No, they are not. But I, for one, get very emotional when I worship God. It is a personality thing. Emotional worship and non-emotional worship - which is right?
Both. If someone else worships without external emotion, that's what's right for them. I grew up in a church like that. I couldn't sing with the congregation. I would get emotional and cry. People would look at me weird. But now, in a Pentecostal church, no one looks down on me for weeping in God's presence.
God's children run the gambit. No way is right or wrong. As long as you're worshiping YHWH, you're okay.
I've often explained to my congregation this: In heaven, many Pentecostals will be struck dumb and still at God's majesty. And many Methodists and Presbyterians will be dancing and shouting with joy.
