Me and my son went through about a year long fight where we didnt talk to each other and he sent me this song while I was at work and I broke down crying and got sent home but on the way home it played in my Pandora and I knew what I had to do I went to see my son and when I got the there he came running out of his front door and gave me a hug and we stood there crying for 10 minutes and I just want to thank Chester for what he did for my life may he rest in the peace his lyrics brought to people like me.

I don’t care what people say, Linkin Park is still amazing even though they aren’t making hard rock like they used to. I respect the evolution that they needed to make. And I still love their music from Hybrid Theory to One More Light, still my favorite band of all time.

God damn it the brilliance is real. If you think about it, this is a companion piece to "Numb" From Meteora. "Numb" is from son to father, "Invisible" from father to son. Although stylistically different, the band is still very much the same.

Remember when everyone hated this album? Instead of being inspired by the artists growing they hated on the album and compared it to hybrid theory and meteora. But all of the sudden Chester passes, bless his soul, and now everyone loves it.

Sckorge that's why I love them. They're doing what they want and they're doing something really different. Linkin park is "growing up" and changing alongside me. When I needed that edgy and rebellious sound, they were there. But now that I've grow out of that phase and have a different taste of music, they've adapted and I still enjoy them.

It’s weirdly comforting to know that this song is comparatively not ‘big’ . This song is a masterpiece and and the fact that only some people come back here is really good. It makes this space as a sort of members only thing.

I'm 34, LP was big part of my teenage/adulthood life. I lost a part of my life, we all did, the world lost a legend. I did not cry, but I'd be lying if I said his death didn't mean anything to me. Yes, he was dropping clues about his depression but like everything in this world - there is a cause for depression. I'm going to find out what made him depressed, I do not believe he committed suicide. RIP Chester! You're the light I needed in my life.

I was abused foe most of my life I am now 27 and have dealt with clinical depression, high anxiety and ptsd for the last 12 years and I am still fighting there are days I just want to give up. Chester lyrics have saved my life time and time again. I'm bawling while listening to this song it's hitting me hard

Even at that time, how could he say anything other than that it was about his kids. I can see inner meanings in almost all their songs.
As someone who never got to feel the love of healthy parents, I hear this and cry and feel loved somehow so thank you Linkin Park for making this, you guys may not realise this but you had a huge role in raising me to be the person I am today, so thank you.

I love that Mike wrote this for his kids for when they are teenagers and was the main vocal on it. Im also really glad that Chester pushed Mike out of his comfort zone to sing more so he could do both 💜 Mike said in a interview for this album that he loved being able to sing 7 days a week next to Chester who was the best vocal coach in the world lol.

Being alone can be advantageous too. Been alone for over a year without any friends or family. And barely any aquaintances at work. Learned a lot about myself, my vulnerabilities and i am much more in control of my life and inner demons than i ever was

I´m a fan of Linkin Park since 1999 and really had my thoughts about "One more Light" at the beginning. But now as I´m a 35 year old married man who struggles a lot with Depression sometimes I really admire this album more and more. It became my favourite one over the last 3 years. It´s really haunting and yet so inspiring...as if Chester knew this was his last work, what you can really hear and see in "Heavy" and "One more Light". I will NEVER get tired of this Band
I feel the reason why people dislike the new album or make hateful off the cuff remarks about the new style is because it hasn't clearly been conveyed that "Linkin Park" isn't a rock band. They never did want to be labeled as anything except for a unique sound. Their style literally changes every album yet this is the one people get upset about?
Hybrid theory to Meteora: transition from nu metal and rap rock- ish sounds to heavier guitar and more gut ripping ballads, Meteora to Minutes to Midnight: More tame music with the inclusion of rap and even heavier riffs, Minutes to Midnight to ATS: Tech Heavy, more rap, Light pop-ish melodies, with world influence. ATS to Living Things: Tech/Electro heavy melodies with synth and rap. Living Things to Hunting Party: Alternative Rock influence with some tech, and punkish undertones, with rock ballads. Hunting Party to One More Light: Lighter, more Calm melodies with visceral instruments with the inclusion of tech, pop influence with meaningful but seemingly superficial lyrics.
Despite that. This band changes influence, but never fails to put their own spin on the genre they experiment with.

Nissim Panchpor I'm not the one deciding anything. they're literally a rock band. queen made pop songs but they're a rock band. what pisses off most people about the songs linkin park are making recently is that they're generic and can be heard from the dozens of other pop artists out there. there's nothing wrong with pop music intrinsically but when a rock band starts making all their songs exclusively pop then the customers have a right to complain. I don't even hate this song but I can understand why some people might.
Randy Couture you're perfectly correct to acknowledge the fact consumers would be mad since they have indulged in creating rock music or what sounds like rock music in the past, I was one of those people who thought like that. But to generalize Linkin Park, throw them a label directly to their core, I still wouldn't say Rock. though we may not agree, you have a point. Also I love how other people describe Linkin Park as "the hardest band ever what happened to them" No offense but I wouldn't really classify them "hard," the same way I don't consider them to be a rock band. I feel what set the record for them to be like "oh don't expect another this or that" was during the Hybrid Theory band days Mike was like "we want to be that sound that no one has heard or with our own flair" and I mean their entire career has been "We're not this, we're not that."

Honestly, this is going to be a great record. I don't want to hear 40y olds singing about running away or to shut up when they're talking. This song right here is what is good about one more light. Singing about personal feelings - feelings that many "grown ups" have. If you are a fan from the beginning, you are at least in your late 20s, early 30s - so this Stuff matters.
I'm really excited to hear the new record. I've grown with every record and i am happy that the music followed this life-developement.
Im 19 so i grew up more on the side of minutes to midnight but this music still speaks volumes. Some people are just stuck saying "its no a phase mom"
Minutes to Midnight is by far my favourite album from LP. I really Enjoy Hybrid Theory and Meteora but i think if they would have done MTM in that same style - they would have exhausted that sound. I love the "mature" approch on Minutes to Midnight. One more light (with what we heard so far) is amazing and i love how they did the lyrics first. Invisible is such a strong song if you get the message.

4 years later I still come back to this song or have it on a Spotify playlist, this just showcases the true talent Mike has, not only in rapping like he does in most other songs but just taking the lead from the front and really putting full emotion behind the lyrics, honestly this song is so underated!
He’s always been the song writer on ALL LP songs, LP is his band and they brought in Chester for vocals only because they wanted elite singing. Then they collaborate on lyrics with Chester but every melody and note is written by Mike

I remembered around 2 years ago, back when im bullied because i was a quiet kid. I used to cope by listening to linkin park, funny enough when i lost almost everything, my friends, girlfriend ditched me too. This song and hybrid theory saved me. I know my grammar is not right because english is not my first language ( sorry about that ). I just want to say, thank you chester for giving me hope.
Currently im more happier than my past. Moved out from my old highschool, i restored my reputation, also crushed my depression. To all of you reading my comment, dont give in to your thoughts. And always remember, if you keep fighting you will see the reward.

i know these two songs (sorry for now) and (invisible) were specifically intended for his kids, but i know deep down mike may have subconsciously created this song for chester. I bet he sees that now that chester is gone. RIP to all those who lost the battle to depression. and to those courageously fighting the battle everyday, you have a purpose in the world no matter which stage of life you are currently at. Nothing can tare you apart from this world except yourself. don't let yourself do that, there is too much at stake. to take that chance.

Also love his voice, so Angelical in a different way from Chester's, both Angelical voices but with different tones, Mike is maybe the best musician of the world (including everything related to music: playing, singing, writing, compose, etc)

Its funny how people say this could be a song from any generic pop group and shit. The quality of these lyrics and how they melt them with the song is not something you normally see in other groups. I feel this is a great album and will grow better on me with time.

When a rock band starts singing about their kids it is time they need to hang it up or get their balls back. I can think of dozens of good bands that had kids and families, but kept the saccharine and sensitive stuff where it belongs -- on a personal basis -- and didn't force their fans to listen to a lyrical standpoint that is not entirely relatable.

It may not be like the Old Linkin Park songs.. But this one was Amazing.
I can't understand the hypocrisy of so many music fans. When a band uses the same sound over and over again, much like Nickelback, they get hate and become a laughing stock. But when a band tries to slowly evolve their music, like LP, people hate on them and cry for them to go back to their old sound. Seems like people think they have some kind of loyalty to a band, when in fact, they just have loyalty to a certain kind of music, and that band just so happened to play it. Its sad really.
I have seen people going so far as to say this is typical pop now, comparing it to Justin Bieber and One Direction...If you can go listen to "Baby" or "What Makes You Beautiful" and then come back here and say that they sound like this song, then I really don't know what to say to that type of stupidity.
If you don't like this genre of music, that's fine. Everyone has their own taste. But don't have the audacity to come here and somehow act personally offended and betrayed by Linkin Park because they haven't perfectly followed your taste in music. There are plenty of other bands out there that will sing what you want, so go ahead and listen to them, because its obvious that its not the band you care about.

It's not even an evolution... heck if even my mother says they got worse(she's not a fan) and I, as much as I love it when bands change their sound and try experimenting, won't just stand there and pretend it's a good song.
It is a pop track, from that worst kind of pop that we can always hear on the radio (probably has something to do with the producer). If a band tries different things for themselves and not for more appeal then it is great(look up Pain of Salvation, they got REALLY mixed reviews for Scarsick, an album that included elements of rap, disco, and some Nu-metal) but if a band does something like this... It's just sad.
Nearly the same thing happened to Opeth BUT they went from death metal to full on 70s prog rock, from one non-mainstream genre to another one and lost some fans in the process while gaining others. The thing about a band evolving their sound is to make music that is appealing to the musicians in it but you can't tell people to like this song, as the majority of the old fan base just doesn't like pop.

I agree, I Feel this album is the most mature in terms of their lyrics, but I also feel that the album suffered the shadow of the tragedy that left Chester's death, so I think that some true LP fans find this album hard to hear (still great though).

Everybody who reads this, i like the idea to maybe let mike be the new voice. Mike has a good voice and it is beautyful. Of course without Chester, Linkin Park will never be the same. But we all know Mike too. Maybe Mike for the new voice?
