And where are the rotary's? Club racing lol, the rx7 is way light , you not comparing eggs with eggs, a motor cycle with a way smaller engine than the rotary will eat it right????? I also ate rx7s with my modified 351 Cleveland, I fucked them up they couldnt do the 250 kph that I was doing, also holden monaro 327 ate that up, and a MG turboed race car ,, a Toyota supra, Subaru wrx absolutely destroyed those, I ate everything on the road even other modern falcons, was hauling in a cop car once till I noticed oooh that's the police
@@hesgotamotor8288 your talking about straight line rolling street drags on a circuit race video. You arent comparing eggs to eggs. Straight line power is king always, in a circuit it's a balance of power and handling. Power will give you a leg up on the straight outs but can be overcome in the corners with better handling.
What most people fail to understand is in IMSA/SCCA in America the rotary destroyed factory ford and Chevy V8 in all classes .They won GTO championship ,camel lights, and GTU .
Lol. Wow, FORD has more race wins than all manufactures combined, because they enter so many forms of racing. Right???? V8 supercars, WRC, nassca, drag racing, truck racing, jet boat racing, ,le man etc. The ford sierra cosworth is the most successful race car in history, and what does the mazda rx7 win? Some small comps?
ya,totally.Ford and Mazda were actually a partner company from 1974 to 2015.The fc3s rx7 in the footage even shares a similar platform to the ford probe. But these are race cars, a match that close could literally come down to who has a fresher set of tires.
2 tools , one job , truth is , lite car tight track advantage, powerful bigger track advantage Choose the right tool for the job you have Both are great tools
This is more like V8 SUPERCAR (IN BIG CAPITAL LETTERS) VS rotary (in tiny letters). Because honestly, the rx7 was completely left to the side on the footage. Also, music in these types of videos is just useless. Its like going to a concert and the guy next to you grabs a megaphone and shouts at your ears through the whole event.
This has nothing to do with it being rotary vs v8. It all comes down to the rx7 being 400-500 odd kg lighter, better aerodynamics, lower centre of gravity. This really has nothing to do with the rotary vs v8. You could put a 650 hp rotary in the falcon and a 450hp v8 in the rx7 and the result would be the same
they would have no effect on the result. In any case the v8 has much better responsiveness and more torque than any rotary. Rotaries rely in turbo for their torque and power, a pushrod v8 has raw grunt. The fact is that the weight and aerodynamics favour the body of the rx7. You could put the exact same engines in both vehicles and the smaller and lighter rx7 would still come out on top. This is apples and oranges
wrong. heavier falcon requires engine with more tq, but you suggest putting in a rotary inside and pump it up for a 650 hp output - imagine how much turbo threshold&lag it would have to go through for that much power, and vice versa- put a high torque v8 in a lighter car - it would be a fricking jet.
Alloutofdonuts Sports sedan racing. It’s as close to no rules racing as you can get. Capacity/weight limits, but engines inside cockpits, transaxle sand tube frames with fibreglass bodies.
Wait, this very RX7 used to have an NA 20B, what happened? (Onboard footage in this video still shows a 20B NA sound, but the outside footage clearly sounds like a 2-rotor... wtf?)
V8 shouldn't have to stretch anything out. It's heavy and requires lugging around an extra 100kg just in iron. The FC3s he raced is better balanced and he can carry as much power through corners as he wants because of the low torque ratio. V8 has even been beaten in top fuel around the world by rotary's and 2Js so I don't think it has the legs to stretch anyway.
V8 SUPERcar 😂😂, kick the GTRs outta the game cause the GTRs keeps winning back in days, mind as well modify the SUVs Holden and Ford makes and race those, as long as it has a v8 in, disregard it suits for cornering or not as long as faster on the straight lines.
Stupid race, 2 totally different categeory race cars. One mid engine sports sedan with aggressive aero and wide tyres, the other a front engine touring car with less tyre and less aero. Not to mention firbreglass widebody kit vs standard steel car body......
160hp less and missed a gear yet still ate the V8... All about retaining the speed through the corners
Sometimes less meant more! :)
Actually thanks for that info I gotta practice that

@@gamingmadesimple5510 yeh, that's where the vpower mustang with Scott mc Laughlin will destroy rotary
The rotary engine really is tiny, but it sounds like a swarm of angry bees, I love it.

Killer bees

nekomatajs it also depends on weight, torque, traction, downforce, aerodynamics, fuel type.
but it's a Ford what did you expect

nekomatajs, no. fc3s shares nothing with the probe
ya,dude no lie check it out - tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Ford_Probe
nekomatajs my bad, they used the headlight mechanisms and dash cluster. The platform and mechanicals are nothing alike otherwise.
This was what Bathurst and touring car racing in the ‘70s and early ‘80’s was all about. Commodores v falcon v camaro v RX7 v everything else.
The lack of rx7 onboard footage is profoundly underwhelming and the music what in the hell
Early 2000's drum and bass lad get amongst it bruv!
Yea like did you see the FCs footwork like that's what I wanted to be not the Falcon
high octane was gold still have all the dvds
dont know about you, but i'm here for 2:40
Alejandro M ...yes,
Nothing like a screamin’ 12A rotary, that’s for sure!
False for the Rx7 footage, the outside footage is a 12a turbo the small inside footage of it is a 20bpp different car
Was waiting for someone to notice
Ahh, and here is another reason why rotary is awesome and banned from professional motorsport xD.

This is a NZ car series made in 2000 to 05 called high-octane ofcs it will have shit music but it was cool back then
The onboard footage of the rotary sounds like its got a 20b not a 12a.
I don't think thats a 12a. I always thought it has 3-rotor 18A/20B in it.
450hp is about right for a good two rotor, the 20B will make 650+
This has nothing to do with it being rotary vs v8. It all comes down to the rx7 being 400-500 odd kg lighter, better aerodynamics, lower centre of gravity. no, the torque&hp curves would be very different

Go Kitz! I loved the Hi Octane vids back in the day.
Is there a class that these cars(& more car type diversity) would be racing eachother at the same time/track?

Ones quicker around corners whilst the other is quicker on a straight.. make racing far more interesting.
What is teh song doe?
Apex seals or not, rotaries are just awesome.
is this the british version of HotVersion/SuperMotoring?
Aussie. High octane

More like breakbeat. But it's got that two-step feel, so: drum & bass. Who knows if Takumi even gives a shit.
La mayor potencia posible en el menor peso posible
So they pick the most twisty track around ........ do this at Mount Panorama, Bathurst ..... and the V-8 Supercar is in it's element ....
Power to weight and weight distribution, which the Mazda rotary has the advantage.
Rotary's great but that v8.. sounded amazing.. gotta admit
Rotary sounded better. Screaming the whole way lmao
That 3 rotor sounded better BY FAR! Like, not even in the same class. Not much can touch the sound of an all motor 3 rotor.
The rotary sounds better, gives smoother power, is smaller, and is way lighter. Wonder why people like rotaries
12A turbo, riiiiiight… that’s a freaking 20B!!!
Anf its only a 12a! Not even a 13b. Thats one well sorted racecar
Light is right
Maztech Is an NZ Company. That 12A is the real deal...built by the racer at his shop :) :) :)
"Track not v8 friendly" what the fuck kind of bullshit is that?
Precision over Power...

12A engine. 2 rotor only
I thought the same thing. I came across an old video of that same car and it runs a 3 rotor
Lighter chasis better power ratio means later braking and sooner and faster acceleration....
Hahaha, the in car shots were actually from Ivan Mikacs 20BPP sports sedan. Terrible execution!!! 😂😂
Power to weight might have a bit to do with it.
Tire size as well?
Is that Rhys Darby lol
No shock here. V8 falcon starts its life as a family hack/ taxi. RX7 is a proper sports car
Better driver in this tale! Not a rotary over V8 story.

Rx7 the replacement for displacement !
Predictable.

That’s a 20b NA not 12a turbo
Whatever people talk about the inferior things of the engine , but the power is make any SC v8 big block tired.
well it is a small track, V8 cant properly stretch its legs :D
how large should it be so it could? oval? drag strip?

Vtec was born to be slow 😂
messy driving from the falcon
so you are saying you would be a better driver?
SchoolShooterPro2050 I dont think he said that, he said the ford driver was crap.
The RX driver missed gears and was messing up too, but he still gapped him on straightaways
Not v8 friendly? Whack hahaha
Wieghts? Why is the Mazda on a fatter tire? What class of racing does the "Rotary" fit into if any? Ricer fanbois are so stupid...
