How to change the box of a blind for another watertight
In this room, when the strong wind blows, it enters through the lower part of the blind tape.
Also when we raise or lower it there is a very unpleasant squeak due to lack of lubrication.
We are going to repair these two problems very cheaply.
The ribbon is in good condition and does not need to be changed.
We are only going to change the box where the tape is wound for a watertight one like this one.
We bought it at a hardware store for less than € 1.
The first step is to put tweezers on the top and bottom of the tape. Thus when we unscrew the spring spring is not activated and the tape is not collected.
When we remove this mechanism, we see that the old box is made of wood and has a large crack, which is why the wind and cold enter.
We are going to completely remove this box with the help of a chisel, chisel or screwdriver and some pliers. It will break when you take it out, but that's not a problem.
We see that the bottom wood is wet.
We carefully open the gap as necessary for the new box to enter.
We put it in place by calculating it with a ruler and applying contact glue.
We are filling in glue as it dries. Before applying the next layer we press the one there is to make it better.
The last phase is filled with wall putty applied with a spatula.
Once smooth and dry we proceed to paint the area.
While it dries, we grease the mechanism with petroleum jelly, since it is cleaner and more durable than lubricating oil or grease.
We put the mechanism in place.
And ready!!!.
Blind like new and more isolated and soundproof room.

@@ArtisteaRestaurayCrea Una cosilla que quizás hubiera venido bien que aclarases es el tipo de pegamento, porque compré pegamento de contacto tal y como dices en el vídeo y me dieron el de pegar los zapatos. El que utilizas es un adhesivo blanco de silicona acrílica para rellenar y sellar paredes o al menos así lo llamó el de la ferretería. Gracias!

¿Y si usas espuma expandida no será más fácil que el pegamento que usas?

Hola! si, es una buena idea, lo que no tengo muy claro es si la presión de la espuma al secar deformará un poco el plástico y hará rozar el mecanismo de la persiana. Estamos preparando un vídeo nuevo parecido, lo probaremos a ver que ocurre. Mil gracias por el comentario!!!!

@@ArtisteaRestaurayCrea he visto uno de la marca Quilosa (fijación 60 segundos, creo que pone en el bote, aunque de otra marca supongo que valdría también) que no expande mucho (o eso dicen), lo que no tengo muy claro es si también aislará.
