Diving "The Zoo" Natewa Bay with Ocean Ventures Fiji 4K

Michelle and I left the comfort of the Koro Sun Resort to go Diving with Ocean Ventures. Ocean Ventures is a smaller operation than most dive companies run by Matthew Norman and Sara Carlson. The best part of diving with Ocean Ventures is it is the owners who take you out. You can really tell safety is first with them. Matthew and Sara really know what they’re doing and talking about also. They have their own spots that they discovered themselves. Of all the companies we went diving with during our trip to Fiji Ocean Ventures had the most well kept gear. They also limit the amount of people they bring on each trip so you get this feeling of being the center of their attention.
Natewa Bay is located on the island of Vanua Levu not too far away from Savusavu. Because of the way the bay is formed and located it is protected from most of the climate related issues that plague other areas of the world (like the bay our resort was located on). Most of the coral and invertebrates were doing great. We noticed very little coral Bleaching as well. One of my favorite features of Natewa Bay was how calm the water was. The surface was motionless at times you could see all the way to the bottom of the bay like you were riding a glass bottom boat. The visibility was so good it was one of the best experiences I've ever encountered.
This video features our first of two dives we made with Ocean Ventures. The name of the spot is called "The Zoo" for the millions of zoanthids covering the reef. Zoanthids hold a special place in my heart because they are some of the most commonly kept corals in salt water reef fish tanks. I personally kept a variety of them back when I had a salt water reef tank when I was in my teens. We saw tons of coral and anemones on this dive as well as lots of different types of fish. This was definitely a dive I will remember for years to come!
