If you wanna listen back to back:
1:28 Tomahawk
2:01 Peacemaker
2:38 Dillinger
3:28 Exterminator
4:08 Daisy Cutter
I'm going for TomaHawk :)
Daisycutter
Went with the Daisy Cutter. Absolutely love it. Looks awesome, and is surprisingly versatile (although I typically use it for metal, medium tuning). Sounds AWESOME at venues!
Honestly, why would you NOT want the daisy cutter?
Tomahawk snare is unbelievable.
even if these options are no longer available, to me Peacemaker seems perfecty controlled and focused right out of the box
Dillinger
That peacemaker and daisycutter though..
I'm with my Exterminator snare since 2014 and I'm obsessed with my snare drum. It fits on all of music styles and sounds very well.

Would you choose it over the Mapex 5.5x13 Black Panther Cherry Bomb Snare Drum?
@@games68775 if you interested about my idea after 1 years 😅 i choose definitely the exterminator because i mostly play jazz and rock and 14 inch snare gives me more body and sustain that i want, also the walnut is i think the best wood shell because it gives balance and loudness to the snare. cherry bomb is cool for pop and funk i think.
Peacemaker all the way it is not as loud as the other ones
Maybe that's why it's called the Peacemaker......
oh, diasy cutter for sure, right up my alley.
I like the Daisy Cutters the best. But surprisingly, I was at a retailer, and there was a stock Yamaha Stage Custom(!) snare for sale by itself. Not comparing, but it did sound pretty good.
Daisy Cutter forever!
i love the sound of the dillinger. incredibly versatile sound. I play in both a metal band and a prog rock band so i need variation. Am very glad the used armory kit I am getting comes with one :) think it would sound great jacked up at a high tuning.
I went with the Peacemaker and its just an amazing snare.. i absolutely love it
How much was it.
@@ronnieburton9593 Right now, all Mapex Armory snares are about $260, so it probably was somewhere around that price
The peacemaker and the Exterminator sound pretty close to each other. Hate the pop on the Tomahawk.
I appreciate your review. They all sound great.
I have the three and a half by 13 bird's-eye maple comma and A5 by 14 solid..... Yes I said solid bronze Black Panther. Weighs about 18 pounds... Serial number is 00004 ! that drum is in the Holy Grail category. talk about sound?
I've got the exterminator, amazing sound very loud and rocker!!
Would you choose it over the Mapex 5.5x13 Black Panther Cherry Bomb Snare Drum?
I'm bummed that they aren't doing the snare trade option anymore, but I'm also glad that my favorite drum here (from what I can tell in the video) is the Tomahawk, which comes stock with the set I'm getting. So I'm lucky there lol
Seriously? I think some retailers need to update their websites if that's the case.
Yea, the over tones are there, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. I just bought a daisy cutter and it's a fucking beast of a snare. Threw one moon gel on it and it instantly makes it waayyy better. The thunderous crack on that thing is magical
I heard the difference right away
EXTERMINATOR its the best!
my fav aswell
I own one and love, I swapped out the triple flanged hoops for S-Hoops and upgraded the Snare wires to Puresound Custom Pro, I always get compliments on how great it sounds and looks ! 👍
Peacemaker
funny, they all sound very much the same! very little difference actually, and i`m listening with earphones! I think one can go only with the look on these.
Btw, your bass drum front head should be a little tighter, it`s flapping all around and it would sound a bit less flat.
Yea, I agree and the kick left a great deal to be desired. You described it perfectly! Maybe they did it on purpose to highlight the snare drums? Good ears Boromir_842.
The idea behind what Mapex is offering is excellent, but if I were to purchase this kit I'd sell the Tomahawk included with this kit, and spend a bit extra to get a Black Panther. Simply an unbeatable snare for a small bit more $.
Fuckin right!
Which Black Panther snare are you talking about exactly? Because the ones I can find cost more than a "small bit more $". Right now The Peacemaker sits at about 229€ and the "Blaster" at 429€. The cheapest BPs start at 350€.
I couldn't hear the snares over all the over tones
For me the tuning was terrible wich makes hard for me to make a decision
Cw.bclar Exactly! And the drummer wtf?!
@@maximusmeridius3106 the drummer was great, but I agree, the tuning wasn't the best.
Jamm’nOnMyBclarAwwwya All he drums were tuned in the medium range which is the first tuning you go to with any snare to see what it want s to do. I thing wrong with the tuning in this video or the playing. The purpose is to demo the snare sound using a similar beat so it’s easily comparable.
Great review. ....just what I was looking for.
i just wish someone could use different heads on them to show how they would sound with thicker heads
Peacemaker or exterminator?
None of these words make sense to me and I love it
Kate l-
😂😂
Thanks for doing this! I was wondering what the difference is and you have answered that question.
Nice video, thanks for the convenient comparison!
Nice snares
No additional cost if you wanna trade snares? Cheers!
I like my steel Ludwig. However, I am in the market for a new kit. Thanks for the review.
Mapex or Tama snares? Which is better for you drummers?
Alan H. González I’d definitely say tama but their price be would be a bit higher then these particular snares.
Peacemaker or daisy cutter for heavy metal?
daisy cutter
honestly, i'm a metal head as well, and those were my two choices. i think either would be fine, but it really depends on what type of guitar tone you typically play with, as snare sits in the same frequency range and competes/blends with them. Since i think my Ludwig acrolyte sounds comparable to the peacemaker, it's an easy decision for me to pick the daisy cutter, just to have a different tonal option for recording. the nice thing about narrowing it down to two options is that you can try one for a couple weeks, and request the other if it's not quite fitting well in your bands material/mix.
Daisy Cutter at all
Really great comparison. Thanks for this! By the way, what hi-hats are you using? I can tell that their Meinl Byzance, but I’m not sure which ones.
Are these Armory snares as good as the Black Panther series?
No yes
Would have liked to hear only the snares one after the other at the end of the video
PeaceMaker is easily the best one.
Abomination Drumming . I completely agree. the other snares have too much overtone. I'd love to hear them all after a head and wire change.
I actually prefer the discontinued Mapex Black Widow ..
Sadly they don't have this system anymore.
im planning to buy the exterminator, would you guys recommend this? btw im a drummer at church ..
What about the Sabre?
that's a neat clutch on that hi hat. but over all nice video.
Love "em!!!!
Nice demo, great snares.
Exterminator is favorite
Gde cupiti
Peacemaker
I want a noble and cooley snare
every single snare sounded the same. I closed my eyes and I listen to it 2x back to back and I could not tell the difference. maybe it was the mic placement or the mixing butt that's just my opinion.I'd like to know if anybody else feels the same way.
same. I couldn't tell any difference in any of them
The demo was rather simple... I wish he would have made a real demo ... different tuning; chain on/off etc...
I can hear a clear difference between all of them. Maybe it's my soundcard and headphones that does it.
Love that Exterminator and Daisy cutter :D
Bobby Droback I listened with Klipsch headphones and the sound difference was their, not sure if it was the upscale headphones or any headphones will work but the differences are subtle but indeed there.
2:37
What size hats are these?
Little Coyote they look like 14" meinl extra dry medium hats
Peacemaker or daisy cutter
What did you get and how does it sound like in person?
@@israeldiaz4841 I got the Peacemaker about 3-4 years ago, it's an amazing snare, great tone. Bit ringy in smaller rooms but if you replace the ambassador head with an emperor/powerstroke or use some dampening it's fine
@@callumj26 oh okay cus I ordered the daisy cutter and I wasn't too sure how it would sound like in person.
Warbird all the way... and it's not even listed.
Great review! I've finally made my decision, Exterminator!
Mike Maskery I have the Exterminator, Goes great with my Mapex Saturn IV's. Sounds best at higher tunings in my opinion.
Mike Maskery I was deciding between an exterminator and a saturn V! chose the saturn instead
As I didn't quite have enough $ to get a black panther
I'd love a Black Panther Sledgehammer 14x6.5 or a Phat bob maple. One day when I have the money I will get one of their pro level snares
What are the hi hats?thanks in advance.
I don't know the size or thickness exactly, but those are Meinl extra dry Hi hats. Probably 14"
The Dillinger I like most but will stick with my yammie tour custom 6 by 14 maple for now. Not that I don't like Mapex, my kits a M Pro. Love it.
My pick is the Black Panther Sledgehammer over any of these.
exterminator
Do they still do this anymore 😕
Demonstrator,
ejaculator
They all sound like entry level snares probably all priced under 350 dollars.
Shawn Edge they didn't really show the tuning range of any of these snares and thus they all sound similar, and they're all $260. take it easy, not everyone can afford to overpay for bland instruments because mom and dad take care of them.
I've played them all in person, from the black panthers and the armory snares. These audio samples don't do justice for these great sounding snares. You can always take your house payment money and go buy an overrated dw snare, lol!
