Google has done so much with maps it's truly marvellous. Although as a geographer in not that keen on the idea of only storing the place ID and nothing else. As humans it's important we don't forget what we know about places. We also should be mindful of ''hidden' places, places that are hyper-local and maybe don't have a large social utility and never get mapped. Then again that's not really Google mission, they usually aren't the types of places people go for dinner. It's good to remember they exist though.
