It was just me that thought Rom is the youngest sibling at the beginning? He has a character of the youngest and Shiv actually seems like a middle child.
Kendall uses drugs as coping mechanism. He takes a lot of stress. Roman is a phoney. He chickens out when it comes to actual engaging in sex and lashes out. I am willing to bet, it's the same with drugs. He can't commit to it and chickens out.
@@xxwhispersxx2856 I think being the only girl in the family made her become tough and look out for herself very fast. Especially with a father like Logan, that’s why she’s his favourite
i really can’t pin down romans feelings on his siblings. he makes little meaningful gestures for/towards them like asking ken if he’s safe when he tells him he’s high, or getting him treats from a place he likes just because or just asking them to talk about their feelings (and being promptly shut down and mocked bc Roy children). but at the same time, he’s absolutely ruthless towards them and sometimes it seems like he genuinely does not care if they’re miserable or not
i think roman's just as conflicted on his relationship with his sibs as we are lol. it's been stated multiple times how roman's the one who cares the most, whether inwardly or outwardly, but he knows that caring will get him nowhere in this business. he'll be spontaneously compassionate in one moment and then do a complete 180 in the next, all because he *does* care but he also doesn't want to be known as the one who cares; it would be the end of him and he knows it.
the last clip on the boat he looked very concerned about kendall's state of mind and looked uneasy, then we had the birthday episode i just want to strangle him
i mean we probably wont get deeper into his psyche for a bit but i think in general, hes scared. thats why hes like this, hes horrified of people (especially logan) not approving of him so he shoves his emotions down to the best of his ability. also hes probably just used to being mean and its second nature now, and i say that as a person who has used a harsh exterior as a defense mechanism (NOT AS BAD AS ROME, OBV)
I have a best friend who is just like Roman, so I can tell you that Roman treats his siblings the way he does BECAUSE he loves them. He is fundamentally unable to show love in the typical way; being a big, goofy, problematic troll is how he shows his love. If he hated them he would be trying to murder them all.
Def shiv and roman has that twin energy since they switch from middle-younger child. I love them so much. And based on 4x8 im crying HARD about Shivy and Ken relationship
6:40 Ken with that silly voice saying “we can talk about our feelings” makes me so happy because the feminine urge to fix this man and help him be his best/happiest self is STRONG.
sarah snook (shiv) told in a interview that it was. they didnt know each other that well at that moment and they had to physically fight and it was a bit awkward and Kieran (roman) suggested to just slap her instead of choreograph a fight and she agreed and the slap made her naturally react and made her want to beat his ass, that’s why it looks so real and relatable if you have siblings lol
All the minor violence is real. The slap fights, the water bottles, the arm punches. They barely rehearse but also none of those hits are meant to be really impactful.

The Birthday party episode was pretty tragic, it's hard to see them becoming friends again after everything, even if Logan goes down. Also Ken threatening to burn Greg hurt man, you really want to root for Ken but its getting harder and harder
Well if anything, the ending of s3 pretty much solidified their connection. The Roy siblings are more unified now than they were in S1. It set the stage for them to finally work together to take down their dad.
@@ivanacvetanovic7611 I think one of the few moments where she didn’t think like that it was when she was grieving for her father as Tom was hugging her in 4x06
Lmao he has something, he needs a diagnosis 😂 His character seemed to have developed depression over the course of the entire series, with the birthday episode being the last straw, now he’s just broken 🤷♂️ I rarely ever see tv shows have such interesting character archs for their characters.
I’ve known my old COO from my old job which was a multi million operation and Roman does not have it in him, it’s probably harder than CEO, just don’t believe a real life Logan would put that on any of his kids. Maybe Karl or Frank?
My understanding is that Shiv smelt his perfume and then made a joke about its name, based on Roman being extremely inappropriate with women (as we have seen with Gerri). And then Roman, true to his messed up nature, insinuates "you wish", as in "you wish you were date r***d" to Shiv (dark, but we have seen his brand of humor where his siblings are concerned). Even Shiv is taken aback by his comment momentarily and goes "You wish??!" because it's such a sicko thing to say to your younger sister.
I don’t know why everyone thinks these interactions are normal or idolize them. I think they are really f**** up. This is not normal interaction between siblings. I think this family interaction is really toxic. Interesting, but damaging beyond repair. I’ve a sister and a brother and we were raised in a loving family. Our interactions are really different. They are the first people I call when I need counsel or I need support. We sometimes fight, but we never exploit the other weaknesses and we talk things through. The interactions in the serie are brutal. I’ve dated a person that had this interaction with his family and boy was I scared. They are all narcissists. They were probably severely abused physically and I also think sexually because there are some scenes and dialogues that are not normal. You shouldn’t feel so vulnerable and scared all the time. It is like words are weapons and you live in constant war. Like anxious not knowing what is coming next. That is not normal. Your family should be the place were you feel safe.
Facts. The "little mew mew"-ification has prevailed. And I guess it's not entirely unsurprising. I mean, this is a show. They design and frame characters so that audiences can empathize with them. And boy, do these characters suffer. So whenever "good" things happen, people are quick to cheer (and forget about the many red flags). In a way, we fall victim to the show's depiction of abuse as well. Many pure, happy, serene examples of insincerity. It hurts. But hey, look! They hugged once. They're besties now uwu. (Especially because this show is a critic, it's strange that not more people seem to treat it like one. So I'm glad you did. I think it's the more interesting conversation to have anyway.)
Its telling that the only times the Roy siblings get along with each other or at least act like siblings is when their father isn’t involved.
RIGHT 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

my ~personal~ belief is that they’re twins bc they both have middle child and youngest child traits
@@ameliej6690 but like, can twins have different hair color? I mean, Roman or Shiv could dye it, Rom would definitely dye it imo

honestly character wise it is expected that Roman would be a drug addict not Kendall, but in the real world you find guys like Kendall all the time.
Yeah you don’t even see roman take any hard drugs throughout the show, i think he saw how it affected kendall and learned to steer clear from it
Well, you'd also expect him to be promiscuous, but he's basically celibate. He's really just a nudie turtle

JAJAJAJA specifically between Shiv and Roman
