Fantastic, thank you for the explanation and swatches! Intresting how in the Titanium-Zinc white, the 2% zinc seems to protect the bright white from yellowing. The natural question that I thought after this was, is there a bennefit to add 2% Zinc on the Safflower Oil Titanium white ? (a Safflower Titanium-Zinc White) Thanks again

Thank you Greg and Alison. Very interesting and useful. The Safflower Titanium and Porcelain whites are definitely going on the list. What is the status of buying Flake White in the UK as I thought it is only conservators who can buy it?

I have managed to find it in the UK - it's supposed to be sold only for restoration purposes. I suggest you take a look at the Supreme Paint Company's website - or the Natural Pigments European website: both can get Flake White/Cremnitz White and other less common whites for you.

How stable is Zinc White in acrylic? I'd imagine the acrylic emulsion binder would keep it flexible and not prone to crack.

We have not found any flexibility issues with Zinc in acrylics, you can read about our findings with oil colors here: justpaint.org/zinc-oxide-faq/

@@GoldenPaints Hi I would like something like porcelain white, right now I feel like T white is very neutral and opaque, and zinc white is cool and semi opaque, but in oils you get warm whites because of the oils that are used, and cool whites, opaque to almost transparent, so I guess I would ultimately like an opaque cool white, a warm white, and a neutral white like titanium and a cool semi transparent white like zinc white
