Thanks for the video. The procedures for leaving the dock are clear and concise. I enjoyed the night sky and have often wondered why more sailing vlogs don’t film that aspect of off shore cruising. Travel safe.
Night shooting is very difficult and I'm sure many sloggers would love to film it more. We shoot these using the Sony A7SII with a VERY fast lens otherwise you can't see stars etc. Autofocus doesn't work and the lens has a extremely narrow depth of field. Glad you enjoyed it and appreciate the expensive/troublesome gear we use to get the shots :-)

At around the 4:10 mark it appears you have a Q flag flying. I was under the impression that was only when you have just pulled into a new foreign port. Is that actually a Q flag?

In this video is/was your destination the US Sailboat Show in Annapolis? If so, I would have really liked to have seen your boat. I was there and you guys were sitting at a table near mine at the 59 North presentation. I'll have to kick myself if your boat was there too and I missed it! Scott W
Yes we were at the show but Distant Shores III was not in the show. She was tied up nearby at Port Annapolis Marina and we took some Patrons out sailing. Sorry we missed you!
a) With the wind blowing you from behind, do you still need to zig-zag moving north or does the wind hit you from the back making you move straight forward? b) How does is video camera able to capture the stars, what camera are you using and what settings? c) How are you crossing over to the Pacific ocean if you are in the Atlantic? Focus is very tricky with that lens though. It’s amazing how the newest cameras are so sensitive even though we’re shooting in 4K 😅🙏🏻🎥

I see that you have run your guy for the poles through a mid ship cleat. I'm going to try this. Right now I have to put chafe gear on my life lines because that is the contact point. My mid ship cleats are fairly smooth as I imagine yours are so even though there is a possibility of chafe we will be ok if we keep an eye on it. I can also see how this helps keep the end of the pole down a little further. I'm giving seminars at the boat show in St Pete this weekend and I do promote your website and videos when talking about cruising the Bahamas. Take care and hope to run into you guys again somewhere.
