The absolutely worst thing we can do is start Darnold and expect Mahomes output with simultaneously chanting for JJ. I am a huge McCarthy fan but only want him in the field when he is ready and coaches feel confident as well.
He might be field ready, but is he mentally ready to take on the pressure of being a starting QB in one of the top offenses in the NFL. I guarantee you the kid can ball like a pro, but is he ready for everything his job requires! It might take half of the season or the whole season to mentally prepare McCarthy for his position.
He seems to be confident, but only McCown and O’Connell will know when the time is right and I hope they get it right if it’s week 1 than cool if it’s next year perfect just make sure he is ready to take this team to the next level
J.J. is more mentally ready than anything. He's been working hard for this all of his life. One of his intangibles is willpower, which he has in spades. Did you watch the video on him as a 16-year-old in high school. He eats, sleeps, and breaths football. He had this big board on his bedroom wall with the next opponents' defenses and other motivational stuff. While still in High School he told Michigan recruits that if they planned on partying when they arrived at Michigan then don't bother coming. J.J. also texted a letter to Fans saying that everybody is working as hard as they can to take Michigan to the top. He thrives on pressure. It won't matter if it's little league, high school, college or the pros. J.J. said he's obsessed with being great. He also promised Kevin O' Connell to brings wins. That's ballsy.
@@glennpelton4887either you are a Michigan fan or once the vikings drafted JJ you started researching him. Lol. Once he committed to Michigan I started researching and I was impressed. I'm pretty sure the video you are talking about is I'm obsessed with being great. I agree with you that mentally JJ is ready. He has looked good in training camp and I am looking forward to seeing how, both, him and Sam Darnold do in the preseason games. Things will be much clearer after the first preseason game
The best think for the Vikings is to make the fan base wait and beg for JJ McCarthy. I’m sorry but we’re a city of losers, we’ve all been beat down for decades with bad losses, we all get frustrated and turn on our QBs so fast. If you toss JJ out too early in this city, he’s toast, another city like Houston he would have been fine. We don’t have the winning mindset in the fan base to start a rookie QB.
@@glennpelton4887 my complaints are not with JJ his skill set or how coaches make the logical choice. My gripe is with our fan base who will turn on JJ at the first sign of trouble because we are stuck in a perpetual losing mindset. And if we toss out JJ to start he will have natural struggles, and our fan base will not give it time to sink in. I think it’s better to let Darnold blow. Then JJ and his mediocre first year will be an improvement so his second year can be much better. But our fans need to seem improvement from pain in order to award the patience. My opinion at least. If it were just me, I would start him day 1 and let him learn. But I’m not going to turn on him for the first 2 years minimum like 95% of the fans I know.
I think his ceiling is somewhere around like Jared Goff and Joe burrow and his floor is like Mac jones. I’m obviously biased as a Vikings fan, but I see him panning out and just not being a superstar but more serviceable such as Kirk was, but maybe just a pinch better than Kirk. If he is productive I think he will fit in to minnesotas offense a lot like purdy fits into the niners offense.
J.J. is obsessed with being great and he has the willpower to do it. He will be a superstar or die trying. That's his mentally. He ain't trying to be just productive. He's coming to the NFL to take it over. That's his mindset. Anytime a recruit tells other recruits to not come to Michigan if they plan on partying and tells the fans to have faith that Michigan is working as hard as they can to be great while still in high school is not trying to be just productive. J.J. has a warrior personality. Think Michael, Kobe, Brady etc. He wants to take Minnesota to the top and will work as hard as he can to make it happen. NOW JUST IMAGINE WHAT KIND OF EFFECT HIS PERSONALITY IS GOING TO HAVE ON HIS TEAMMATES. It will be contagious. It's about to be "on and poppin" in Minnesota baby!
Yea people are crazy! I hope Darnold goes off! He can turn into our QB of the future and we trade JJ9. I could care less who it is. As long as we have a QB producing wins. His name could be Oscar the grouch. I don’t care!
Vikes fans I beg of you. When Darnold starts and the season goes quickly south, PLEASE stay patient. Trust the process. JJ when play when KOC believes he is ready
He's a smart and humble Quarterback. I can't wait for JJ McCarthy to shine like an Olympic Gold Medal.

THAT HOODIE! That’s money though. “Long story longer” I dig that hoodie, hook me up? 😂
Lets go i feel pretty dam good about him
Lisan al Gaib
I don't know what PA is on. I'm not ready to crown McCarthy, but he's on a good track and has that work ethic.
Have faith! He's going to be Purple Jesus imo. Future top 5 QB at the least & the next GOAT at the best. He has "it."
@@SLCNorseman Yessir, as we use to say in the neighborhood. It's "on and poppin now"
@@SLCNorseman Agree.
I have the feeling that both will be good.
love the 8 mile meme lolol
Mahomes runs like he’s got a full diaper at all times.
He doesn't wash his drawls, so I'm sure his diaper is full
JJ McCarthy = Purple Jesus

Barring injury Sam will start all year.
I'm trying to be positive! Sometimes I worry he looks so good is our secondary is a** & Darnold is just not better. Best case scenario JJ is him!

If they start him that means he's ready. He does have a high Football IQ so it might not take long.

Yeah i want Darnold to do well, but stats dont lie, and if you look at his stats he is not good.
Having a 2nd look, statistically sam darnold is WORSE than Nick Mullens
"Feel good about the future"? Are you high? 😂The Vikings are doomed for the next 3-4 years until they get a decent qb

How u do know JJ won't be starter at beginning of season? What interview did our coach say he wants JJ to sit the whole yr?
