Honestly I love Serj but the more Scars on Broadway I hear the more I realise how much of a creative force Daron was in System of a Down. I love his style so much!!
Their split made this very clear. Daron is the one with all the melodies and composition.
@@LBPreviews amen! He's a talented dude. Don't get me wrong I loved Serj's first solo album 'Elect the Dead', and System wouldn't be system without Serj. Their harmonis are stunning. However, his more recent work is pretty messy. We basically need Darron to write a new album and Serj just has to accept that he's now backing vocals. That would be nice. To be honest a new Sytem of a Down album in general would be wonderful.
They are two sides of the same coin. Both are equal creative forces. Serge is more experimental world music and Daron brings the metal. Both great songwriters and singers in their own right but something is missing and that's that wonderful chemistry they have when they're together as SOAD. The main obstacle stopping that is Serge and John. They don't share the same world views and that makes it hard for them to make another album as a band. Serge and Daron should collaborate on a band project coz that's the closest we'll get to SOAD.

Love SOAD, but Daron is clearly the master of melody. He could easily put any lyrics in his songs and turn shit into a melody masterpiece.
@R SOAD went on hiatus like 10 years ago then they both started making their own solo music, then they recently came together for two songs

As a guitarist, daron malakian is my biggest inspiration! I just turned 16 and hAve been playing guitar for a little over a year. My favorite soad songs are ALl OF THEM, I just learned how to play shimmy. I love you daron

First system song I ever learned was snowblind. Then Deer Dance. Now I know probably 30 of them or so. It's a good rabbit hole to fall into as a new guitarist. Cause they all rock! And their difficulty isn't too insane. But they are technical enough to help you with a lot of techniques and time changes that are in all music.

@@NWOWCW4Life1 Daron wants the writing profits and is kinda money hungry. He was the subpar singer compared to Serj, but Daron would control a lot of the creative process including the writing royalties, the reason we don't have a new SOAD is Serj wants it more democratic.
But Daron is that dictator he writes songs about.

gawd Daron has such a distinct voice and it just works in so many ways. I miss all of SOAD and the qualities they all brought with each other.
Honestly, I'm glad that even today Daron continues to make badass music. It really helps me get through my day of being surrounded by errogent assholes that only care about themselves and not the world around them. Always glued to their phone worrying about likes on Instagram or Snapchat, never once looking outside a window, or enjoying a nice breeze that blows by.
