Yes, it is very powerful. It slices into shrubs and banks so easily... I always admire those who invented it. Useful thing, trying to get rid of the beavers...

Charles Johnson Same here. I don't know how I end up places. I started watching a bull getting castrated, then how to hone a cylinder bore on a 350 Chevy, and then a documentary about weaving looms. Now, I am watching a guy busting up beaver dams. Damn, TH-cam is awesome!
Great shoot! Well done, but the way your holding the sticks (Do you call them stick? Joystick? w/e)... hehe.. wonder how it would be if you had rototilt.. Anyways, what excavator was it? 240, 290? Atleast it's the right model! // Swedish exc operator :)
I wish that there was some sequence to these videos. Or that they were titled and numbered to easier view them in some order. They are great videos, but I watch one then can’t find the next one. The leaking pond is a good example. Also draining the pond is another. I watched them dig the channel and drain the green dyed water, but that was it. Too bad.
A lot of people don't realize that beavers can be very beneficial for waterways but they can also destroy a lot of woodland as well if they are not controlled. So it might seem cruel to destroy their dams but leaving their dam building unchecked can mean the loss of woodlands which affects other wildlife.
Wrong. Man has done more to wreck the natural balance than any number of Beavers could ever do. Without interference, the beaver environment evolves and changes in a natural manner. And were it not for mans ruthless extermination of predator species, beavers would not run "uncontrolled". Ultimately, the environment dictates how many beavers any given area can support. It's only man that seems to think he knows what's "good" and what's "bad" for the ecosystem. The only ecosystem beavers truly "threaten" is that of man.
@@fordguy8792 Not just ecosystem but also people’s interests are important. Beavers cause damages on river regulation, on forestry... I think it gives pretty good reasons for the elimination of beavers. You may let beavers be in wetland reservations, not in the cultural landscape.
@@lukasbejcek8841 Humans have overtaken pretty much the whole planet. These days the beavers are being returned to a lot of habitats they once lived in, because it's so much healthier for the ecosystem, AND for the local watershed, which affects farming. I could see trapping them for food and fur at a rate they can recover from, but trying to keep them from doing all their natural behaviors is begging for problems with flooding and local water table recharge, and even increases the risks of wildfires. There are a lot of DNR programs that will help farmers / rural landowners with donating a piece of property to nature restoration, and making it a financially viable decision. Leave some room for the rest of the species on the planet, especially river and creek bottoms where you're not trying to grow anything anyway. We keep a family of beavers in our local park by fencing the valuable trees and making sure there's lots of willow growing near the pond for them to eat instead. They occasionally try to dam the only outflow from the pond, so we're installing a diversion fence to keep that from happening. If we can do that in a 200 acre city park, it's definitely possible to do it in a rural setting.
Yeah 8 1/2 yrs. We are accepting applications now at exc driving school! Fill out your app, and send a check for half of total tuition. It's only 29k a year . Make the check out to me personally , half down would be 85k , and we will get you started asap!!!
I know it was a ground hog in Caddy Shack, but you should play Kenny Loggins "I'm Alright" song at the end, and show a picture of the pissed-off beaver.
Love your videos but with as much wetlands as we have destroyed this should be against the law with huge fines. I understand people want to use that land but the beavers can create huge water habitats from just a small stream.
Watching this in 2021. It's amusing listening to Chris's accent which seems to have mellowed over the years.
Me too . Its February 2021

13 years later, and this is still one of my favorite LD18 videos. Congratulations on all your success in 2024!
I always love watching an experienced excavator operator work. You make that machine look like a literal extension of your limbs.
That entire place looked filled with beaver dams! 🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫
Chris, wouldn't a pull dozer be quicker to pull the dirt up,?
Seeing that excavator just take chunks of dirt out so smoothly is just awesome, give you a new idea on how powerful hydraulic machines can be
It's amazing how quiet it is, as well.

This is the very first video I saw you in then after that it’s been awesome.
Same here😀😅
These videos are freaking awesome!
Now i remember how i got hooked on your channel, must have been the random beaver dam busting vids i was watching, LOL....
Looks like incredibly satisfying work
Beautiful.👍👍
Truck looks great.👍👍👍👍
well that was just completley awesome!
What a joyful moment to see waters burst out from the dam
congratulations for the first time I saw a crane work quickly
your a very good operator nice work fella
i love this job and going to start my heavy equipment course soon . Saum From Canada
Real smooth operator!
For some reason reminds me of All Black Rugby player nicknamed "Beaver"....love your work m8

Why do beavers make dam's?

I always miss the before and after video. would like to see what it looks like the next day 👍
There is NO Question this is the Right Equipment to send Beavers Packing. Eviction 101. 😬👍
"Haha Here we go" Shelby's the man lol.
My uncle (an enlisted Marine during WWII) was a heavy equipment operator his whole life. What a satisfying job that looks to be. Constant good works.
i think that the beaver dam busting and the pond digging is the best
I don’t know why I find this shit fascinating
man is absolutely phantastic - nature does everything wrong! There you go
I love when man sometimes triuphs over nature :)
Super job!!
it looks really fun to drive one of those!
How do you like the volvo excavators compared to others you've ran?
Excavator: well we’re busting beaver dam. Mrs. Beaver to mr beaver: Walter somethings wrong there’s no water in the basement!!!!!!
Looks like fun, but I can't help thinking that explosives would be even more fun.
Can anyone tell me why I am watching this at 3 In the morning
I wish I could buddy, I was watching crap about volcanos and somehow ended up here.

Because you are ~25 and single maybe
narkatameister actualy im 26 and in the friendzone your logic is Illogical
I'm 26 too and single and I stay late a lot. My logic based on me and it's not that far off lol
I'm on the Beaver's side. Beaver dams do a tremendous amount of good for the environment and the other critters that live in that area.
man , you get paid for bustin up beaver all day? lucky bastard
did you say the "here we go" at the end in reference to shelby of off the logging show?
Thank you. I thought that was a familiar voice. Good catch.
The 4 dislikes are from Beavers that know how to use computers.
Beavers see Chris rollin', they hatin'!
swampman shelby stanga and his here we go at the end lmfao thats great
Nice excavator u got there man
Niiice! Great view too!!
What did you do to crack your windshield
I for one am glad that you do
danm, you sure can operate. I love operatin excavators, i just got out of school for heavy machinery
What is it with these odd jobs you get? do you have a contract with the county or state to do this kind of work?
Nooooo the humanity 😭😭. Seriously nice job though👍
@jeremylee99100 yes I do!
Did you dig out any beavers?
With each shovel load you took from the dam I thought ......remember the days of wheelbarrows and shovels !!!

always look forward to your vids man lol
Nice camera angle.. Clear shot.
What did ya charge them for busting the dam?
Beavers? Ducks are thinking dam I still have to make payments on that pond!
How many tons is the machine?
How you crack you windshield
were you using the 140 or the 210?
Doug Taylor down the road blew a beaver dam up one time . that was worth watching . and that was 10 yrs ago too so ..
Here we go! Shelby!
Don't bother breaking beaver dams without cleaning out the beaver first. They just rebuild it.
Totally agree! Traping or shooting are the best solutions.
Could one of the mini's have done that job if the two bigger excavators were elsewhere?
I can hear that Sultans of Swing in the background. Lol
what typ of volvo you drive?
letsdig18. have you ever scooped up a beaver?
Hope he has a lot!
And just what is your dwelling made from?
is that a volvo ec 210? or 250?
Can you hit the windshield with the bucket?
"Dang. Now I'll be hard at work rebuilding it tomorrow!" Says the beaver watching from afar lol.
I would like to see some pictures of these places before and after they have drained.
thats a nice machine you have there

You turned a babbling brook into a class 4 rapid.
A beaver is nothing more than an overgrown rat, a total nuisance.
Got you a new nickname! Beaverman!
So, did you ever to have to go to school (College) to become an Excavator Operator?

Great skills, smooth and coordinated.

Have you thought about doing Muliti camera clips? it wouldn't be hard to do
running my backhoe it's gonna be so underwhelming after watching this...

that pic got up loaded to lawnsite didn't it?
amazing. Must be difficult to keep the internet connected.

you realize the dam isnt the beavers home right? they have a lodge for that
Well done.
I miss these type's on video you use to make

Don't know anything about excavating but I would be filling in the way I came so I could get out if it gets dicey.

Do you see anything in this area besides grass and trees??? no
sure is
The beavers will only use that wood again! Let someone trap the beavers..
Yes, we shouldn’t let them to rebuilt the dam. Removing the dam is not enough, traping is the best solution.
Got some massive beaver dams up at our land in northern Quebec You could come up and help one day ;)
