      I thought about this too..but then I came to conclusion that it might have been easier for him to place himself in Korey's shoes (because of the similarity) and he was able to sympathize with him more than..let's say a 28 year old white female who probably had it good all her life..

    • @jmilber
      @jmilber 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your heart should pour for NONE of them. They are all 100% guitly, and Netflix helped put out the worst piece of propagnada in history. After they left her beaten and unconcious on the ground, another man, MAttias, raped her again and smashed her head with a rock. There's still ABUNDANT evidence that all the '5" were involved in the initial rape and beating of the victim. Their confessions are all no tape, and there is ZERO coercsion.... they had their parents there, they were fed food and given driniks, and there was no reason to push them to confess to something they didn't do. The police WANT to find the real killer. Not to mention, 30 other kids placed them at the scene, and the reason the kids were suspected anyway was because of them had an injyry on his face. He lied about it, and when he was caught he said the female jogger did it to him.

      Raymond Santana testified at a parole hearing on February 9, 1994 and he was questioned about the crimes he committed on April 19, 1989. He admitted that he and his friends planned to go to the park that night to rob and assault people. He stated that about seven or eight friends devised the plan. They were prepared to attack whoever they encountered that night in the park. Santana reiterated that they had let one, a couple, go because the man was with his girlfriend. Santana also admitted to beating a man. He denied only the rape. When Antron McCray went before the parole board in November 1994, he admitted all of his crimes except for the rape of the female jogger. Two of the defendants, Raymond Santana and Kevin Richardson, during interviews conducted by detectives in 2002, admitted their participation in the assaults that did not involve the jogger.

      It was complete fiction. Propagnada fiction. Every one of those kids was guilty, and an extra kid got off because he lied and had his friends back him up--- although every other kid placed him there at the scene. If you want to see the truth, watch the REAL interrogations. There was no coercsion. the parents were there, the kids were all seperated, and their stories all matched except for one thing...... each kid said the rapists were the other kids, not themself. They though thtye were so smart. They all knew things that wouldn't possibly be known if htey were not there.
      Just because these pieces of human trash, now millionaires, left a woman unconciuos after raping her and beating her--- and that leads to ANOTHER man finding her and raping her and bashing her head in with a rock, dopesn't make them innocent int he slightest. Finding his DNA evidence doesn't remove the details accounts from all the boys, the 20-30 other kids who knew about it or saw it happening, and other physical evidence.

    One of the biggest realisations watching this, is the pure empathy one feels for these men and countless others wrongly convicted, yet living out prison terms. You cannot help but put yourself in those shoes and experience the horrors of it and the daily rage towards the justice system that failed to protect you. Not only did it not protect you, but it criminalised you without impunity. I watched this and found myself hugging myself because the anger and the grief of it was overwhelming. Of course, they even showed the absolute horror of the rape scene, so the female perspective (another major issue) was not excluded. I applaud them for shining a floodlight on the horrors of it all, but especially that of the justice system. I was so impressed that Corey never buckled to a lie again in parole. What a spiritual test he went through. Love to all and may we all do better.

    Yousef said that his story somewhat similar to prophet Yusuf's a.s story in the Qur'an. Being falsely accused of rape, and sentenced to more than 6 years (almost 7 Years) in jail.
    And when oprah told the story of the poor man, whose been falsely accuséd and serving 30 years in jail Who went blind, suddenly after hearing the verdict. I remember the same story of prophet Yusuf's a.s father (Yakub a.s/Jacob), literally went blind after his other sons told him that little Yusuf a.s had been eaten by wolves.

    This is a very interesting case for anyone in the Psychology major to look at. People were outrageous at the boys for raping the jogger, and this was BIG in 1989.. But now the sympathy for the jogger is gone..people barely care to get angry at Reyes for doing what he did--even though the nature of the crime is still the same as it was 30 years ago..
    Now people are more sympathetic with Reyes..saying that he has more heart than Linda Fairstein.. This is mind-blowing.. I've seen some people even criticizing the jogger..saying she was asking for it..who would jog north in the park at night when the crime rate is high at the time..also she was listening to music..typical white privilege girl..also she still thinks these men were involved..that it couldn't have been possible it was only the work of one man..still insisting that her case was out of ordinary...she probably even thinks these boys stole her thunder..

      Nah I still felt bad about the victim of the rape but my anger towards the prosecutors were even more extreme because not only did they allow the real culprit to continue roaming, they involved 5 innocent children!! They are taking a lot of the anger and blame because, unlike the psychopath rapist, those prosecutors/investigators held a higher position in the justice system and are still roaming free on the streets. People are directing their anger at the system where the anger is rightfully concentrated because of prosecutors like these that allow real rapists go to create more crimes while involving innocent people and thus creating more damage than should be.
      People are more sympathetic with Reyes because at least he has the courage to admit his mistakes. To confess. Whereas the prosecutor and investigator were still stubborn af and doesn't admit they were wrong.

    Why why why do detectives do these things! They had to of truly deeply known that those young teens did not attack that woman. I just can't wrap my head around why they do that to people. And also what are the odds that 5 people did that to her? It can happen but come on. That's just another thing that didn't make sense. So they thought that a bunch of 7th grader teen boys raped that woman. Did that woman say she had that many attackers?? It's just truly appalling how this all happened. Makes me sick. And on top of it that poor woman's attacker walked free. Because once those boys were trapped by police im sure they never looked at anyone else. Makes me so mad that so many innocent people had this done to them! It's just ethically wrong!!

    yeah it’s hard to tell when 30 people are beating your ass into a bloody pulp in the dark. They confessed with no coercion. They interviewed a total of 37 others involved to some degree and only those 5 were charged with the rape. They found semen, dirt, and blood on the clothing. Raymond Santana had semen on his sleeve, and Kevin Richardson had semen in his underwear. Yusuf Salaam was known to carry knives prior to this incident, this was corroborated in all the interviews and in all the confessions they mention a knife that was passed around, and a steel 10-12imch pipe that he had. There is an interview with Luis Montalvo another kid who had been out with them doing this type of thing where he mentions they where out looking for mischief where a vendor was stabbed and beaten with a bat. It’s some much information on this that people pay no mind to, it’s evident by all these factors I can reasonably conclude they were all involved to some degree, to interview 37 kids and only charge 5 with a rape is saying something. A kid named Michael Brosco was interviewed you can find it here, when they asked him about the rape he went dead silent & stopped taking. Clearence Thomas by his own admission started confessing as soon as the officers picked him up, before they even knew about the jogger he was stating he had nothing to with with it and she wasn’t even found yet. I’ve looked at so many things concerning this case, being a minority from an inner city where being mischievous is apart of the environment, I can 100% say that people aren’t being honest about all the details involved with this case. I only looked into it when I friend of mine brought to my attention. The people who created the series left out so many details. They obviously have a financial agenda.

    They are by no means innocent…the series was misleading and left out a lot of facts, 37 teenagers where brought in for questioning, 15 were charged with varying charges, out of the 15 the 5 were charged with the rape. If you look at the actually evidence, and really listen to the confessions, this group was involved in another incident at a carnival where they beat and stabbed a vender, they were actually beating random people bloody in Central Park…the fact the people act like they are victims blows my mind, they weren’t just singled out…many of the 37 other kids told on the 5 specifically especially Lopez, and Santana as being the ones who coordinated the whole situation with the plan of beating, robbing etc…
