Heres my fav deck to play. 3 chart a course, 4 highway robbery, 4 seize the spoils, 2 impulse, 2 artists talent, 1 lively dirge, 2 plan the heist, 1 step between worlds, 3 pyroclasm, 1 botherhoods end,1 lightning helix, 2 invasion of arcavious, 3 invasion of tolvada, 3 campus renovation, 1 atraxa, 1 thousand year storm, 4 omniscience. 22 lands sb archdruids charm, helix, stoke the flames, plan the heist. You loot omni into GY then recur it and draw your whole deck then play thousand year storm and burn them out for lethal. Very fun, and can win game as early as turn 4. I Had to add in sweepers to deal with aggro decks, as they win before i can. Its an all in GY strategy ive seen no one else play it but me.
Just learning mtg with my son so far I've bought us the foundations beginner box, starter box, pre-release box, bundle box, 4 random play packs and two jumpstart packs that should Hopefully get us well on our way with luck of some decent pulls.
Should give you a decent starting point. If you haven’t opened all the packs, doing sealed with your son could be fun and get you both to play strategies or cards you haven’t in the past

The 4 play and 2 jumpstart i got off whatnot so they were opened online got a doubling season on one and both the jumpstart were white don't remember themes tho. We are only playing with the beginner box right now whilst we both learn.
When trying to rank up, I currently play Selesnya Auras. The green 1 and 2 drops with ward 2 are great in the deck, especially once paired with sheltered by ghosts. Some free wins just from opponents who don't count up the ward triggers correctly. Playing some Zur Overlords too for fun, but its not great in BO1. Its awful against mono red.
I think the zur deck is really good into red but in Bo3 where you adjust post board. While on red I usually destroy them game 1 then have a slog games 2 and 3
So I started playing a few days ago & can craft both the Mono-Red Aggro & Mono-Black Midrange. Would you say that’s a good combo of decks for a starter?

I dont want to aquire a expensive deck with a core card of it rotating out of Standard anytime soon. Thanks in advance. Edit: i know Mono red is usually cheap. But i am sure i dont want to play mono Red.
Hey so mono red would be the go to configuration I'd suggest. Could also look to slowly build the mono black midrange list. Many of the cards in that deck also see play in dual color decks but also in extended formats like explorer. You can save on the initial manabase. The simic terror deck is pretty budget, however the manabase for simic isn't used much in other decks
i feel the monoblack midrange is better off with rogues passage instead of mirrex. i really like the deck though; lots of interaction, always seems to find a way against all kinds of different decks.
Rogues passage is too slow and taps you out to play. Really hurts when you use it and then they wipe out your slasher. Mirrex can slowly build up more and more creatures while you control the board. It stacks up fast adding another toxic creature every opponents turn.
you could lean more into discard with 'hopeless nightmare' or 'ruthless negotiation'. or with the amount of crimes in the deck you could use 'foresaken miner' as a cheap early creature that will keep coming back? if you're a newer player, these are all cards that will see use in other black decks, so not a waste of wildcards.
It’s a client issue since they banned it in alchemy. For some folks it shows it as banned in standard. Make sure the deck select mode is standard not alchemy. Otherwise remove the card, save the deck then go back in and manually add rage. It’s an arena side thing
I'm sorry but as a player I would like to help you all. None of these decks are top and if you are looking for a really top deck go for Mono White Control, it is literally impossible to lose (7/1). I didn't have Untapped activated when I started playing. I went from emerald 4 to diamond 2 (almost 1) in 2 hours calmly, drinking some mates, listening to music. Slow but safe games.
literally impossible to lose but says 7 and 1. Claims a rank "emerald" that doesn't exist. Is mono white a good deck, yes. It's ok to suggest alternate decks and options without saying none of the decks in the video are top rank when there is stats from trackers backing it up.
SO DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY BUILD THEIR OWN DECKS THESE DAYS, OR DO YOU YA'LL JUST ALWAYS NET-DECK? CUZ I FEEL LIKE I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT BUILDS MY OWN DECKS. I NEVER NET-DECK. NEVER HAVE NEVER WILL. LET ME KNOW PEOPLE. I'M JUST CURIOUS. THANX🙏

That special reward is "FIRST PLACE" or "CHAMPION". I'm old school, so i was just curious. I wasn't talking shit or nothing. Just seeing whats going on out there. Thanx
deckbuilders need to understand the meta they are brewing against one of the best ways to accomplish that is by playing the most popular decks the best players play the meta decks enough to be familiar with them then brew to beat them the most successful brews become the new meta decks and the cycle repeats if you *never* netdeck you will simply get worse results than those who do your choice

Gets you a good spread of aggro and midrange that can let you branch out over time. Most important is to have fun though when you are playing
@thanks! I was thinking of playing one of the Blue or Green centered decks instead of Monoblack Midrange, but they seem a tad more complex 😅
@howaboutdat tempo style decks usually have higher complexity that require you to not only know your deck but also opponents

Think most just go all in for mono red. A lot of gruul appeal is in its sideboard cards like pawpatch

I would rather see from Diamond to Mythic. I think that for most of us, we’re not aiming to finish in the top 250.
Usually try to do the mix:
1st week of month - plat-mythic
2-4 (if 5 weeks) - diamond - mythic
last week - Mythic

Some people want to brew. Others want to play the strongest decks. You don’t get a special reward for deck creativity when pushing for highest ranks

While these top decks can get you far but you still need to improve them to reach mythic.
