Oh gosh! Grand 55! I spent many nights there. I was at that night too. Hard to believe it was so long ago. That was great hang out for couple of years until it was closed. Thank you for sharing!
55 Grand closed and then everyone moved over to 55 Bar on Christopher Street. Mike would play there every Monday and Wednesday night. He was like a God up there, I have seen him many times and I have never heard him play the way he did at 55 Bar. I guess it's the relaxed setting, it's like when I used to see Robben Ford in the late eighties at a place called Mikell's, It was unbelievable. Time really does have a way of slipping through your fingers.
They're playing in the true spirit of improvisational music, taking risks, always keeping an edge...unlike so called fusion that happened in later years where everything is safe and well scripted...it's like watching Bird, Trane, Miles or Monk getting onstage determined to search for something elusive that can't be defined
I jammed with Barry back in '82 at 251 W. 30th St. in his loft. Larry Dimarzio was there. We just traded solos over blues tunes. Barry had a fun project called The Negatives. Really quirky pop with clever lyrics about negativity. Long live Barry.
This is treasure...thanx for uploading..
NYC - the 80’s. Indescribable. SAMO and incredible music. ❤❤. Thank you. Priceless.
Grazie per questa perla meravigliosa

It's really great hearing these guys in this context. Barry & Mike are playing their asses off !

Uhh... Holy motherlode, Batman! Bless you ebjazz93 for this mind-blowing upload. Priceless. Also: that blues @ 01:05:52 is Freddie King's Hide Away.
Hey, many thanks, it's added. 👍
Wrong. It's The Stumble.
@@JacoPastoriusArchive Ha! You're totally right. I mix those King titles up all the time. Cheers...
Encore: Giant Steps! Woo!
thanks for posting this ❤
Barry finnerty made the guitar solo in "Last Call" Live Crusaders with B B King
Several times I've heard that, on his late days, Jaco played Loud ! Probably a cry for help, that never came.
No wonder Miles wanted him in the band

The cocaine was in good supply tonight.
whatever makes it all work is welcome
12:00 Jaco cranks it up steps on a pedal and takes over! lol!
wow rare find!
How old is Mike here, he looks 19 yrs old. But he is playing just like Mike Stern of today.
31
Barry was shafted. I was at Kix...
Why are both of them comping during Jaco’s solo?
Jaco high as a kitee
Stupidest comment
incredible find but is it ok to say although other than Jaco pretty average in todays standards. Thanks for the history
‚Average’? 😮 I hope you‘re kidding! Name one player who could match Mike Stern‘s time feel and phrasing….it jazz at its best.
Post your excellent playing- let the masses decide about your credibility.
Don't feed the troll.
Reminds me of the sounds my guitar makes when I throw it down the stairs.
