    For those of you who haven't seen, i changed my mind and put up a poll for the build after the patron request. Check the community tab if you want to vote!
    Choices are
    The protagonist from Code Vein
    Alphen from Tales of Arise
    Kamina from Gurren Lagann
    And Yamato from One Piece

      EC could work, but I've already used artillerist for both Pyro and Engineer, wanted to do something different

    Man, it's really hard to make a "tough, big gun user" in DnD... Same issue with Barret (FF VII) and Terry (Brooklyn 99)

    Yesterday I played as your Pyro build in my DnD campaign and it went pretty well. For context... We're playing in some magic collapse setting. Yea, it's like Chernobyl, but with magic had taking place. In zone of this big magical explosion casters cannot regen their spell slots, and there are some other anomalies like some items even from other time. So yea, this is dangerous place, with some rare and expensive loot, so this is why some adventures are heading there.
    After our group was formed, we went to village and decided to stay here for a while. But after that we killed all villagers. It turned out they are not humans, more like some abbreviation's animatronics. All of them moved like robots, and when we asked them a question, they answered all at once. And when we decided to just leave the village, villagers just blocked our way to leave, and there was nothing left just to fight back, and we killed them.
    But it turned out that this abberations have mind connection with their hive, and we need to came up with something, before some stronger abberations came for our lives after two days.
    So we decided to prepare a demon for them. Yes, we decided to summon a demon on battlefield while we would fight with abberations, for this demon just got some attention to enemy on himself. To summon demon, we need demon bones that locked in some flying wizard tower, and some part of fire elemental magic. So our group decided to split up, and me and our fire druid went to cave of fire elementals, to ask them to give us some of their power. But the leader of fire elementals declined, and asked a some elemental note, to increase his power in return. So we headed more inside a cave.
    Then appeared other big fire elemental that asked like "What are you doing in my place? Get out here". My party druid tired to say we're not here to fight, but got 5 on persuasion, and made him angry, so we rolled our initiative checks and the battle started

      @@Dragonfly9078I was on level 4, on had only 1 spell slot, from our previous encounter with villagers, so I used my thunderwave on him, and decided to use my flamethrower, because I thought he has only resistance to fire. But... Fire just healed him in half of my damage. So with that our druid decided to summon fire sphere, because he thought this fire sphere would just blow this elemental from inside, but it didn't work. More of that, some fire goblin was awaken by this fire sphere, while he was just resting in pit of lava. After this big fire guy decided to throw pyro in pit of lava, with means he's burns, and every time get d10 fire dmg in end of pyro's turn, until he use action to extinguish himself. But on my two turns I got like 1 in row and got 0 dmg. I decided to use my scythe with +1 infusion, and attack the big guy, and ob next turn used my handaxe for some special move called "restraining strike". Got -3 to your attack roll, and on success leave weapon inside enemy, and he got disadvantage on his dex saves and attack rolls. Then our druid used wither and bloom on enemies, and killed the lil guy, and used bloom on me, but I had already use all my hp dices, after village encounter. Druid then used this spell again, and healed himself, meanwhile I chopped off the hand of big guy, but he attacked me and all my hp went to zero. Then big guy headed to corner of area and used his secret elemental potion to heal himself. Then our druid decided to heal me by 6, and move useless fire sphere in lava where in won't do anything, but somehow another fire goblin was awaken by it. So this situation was really not good. We back to that where we was in start of encounter, but now we had very small amount of hp. Big guy just got back to us, he regened his arm, and my turn has started. My party member said that we should flee, and tired to teleport us away, but it wasn't his turn, like DM said. So... What to do in this situation? I decided to make this look like that I'm trying to hit my party member with scythe, but I lost my balance, so instead I hitted all of them at once, and killed lil guy. DM asked me roll on perfomance to make all fire elementals believe that I really on their side now. It was successful. That caused explosion from boss, that got my druid and left him with 0 hp. Moreover, that also him me and afterburn left me with 1 HP. GM used metagame and said that this big guy has only 2 HP, but there is his turn next, but thanks to my perfomance check, he did nothing, just said I did pretty good job. So... This is my turn... This scene is like Armstrong helps Raiden to get up, and they both hug. But then I used my unarmed strike on him. That was 3 dmg. I pulled my hand inside him and pulled out his heart outside of him (or what is suppose to be). I won. Yea there was still afterburn. I had like 10% to survive after that, but it got five, so my hp went to 0, and I started to lose my counsionsless, and started to hear that some steps are heading to us. And with that cliffhanger our session was end.

    If he uses a heavy crossbow as his main gun weapon, why'd you dump DEX? That's the ability for ranged weapons. I kept thinking there was something to make up for that, but there wasn't. I understand you want STR for the unarmed, but you wouldn't dump DEX for Ranger....

    • @Dragonfly9078
      @Dragonfly9078  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Because the crossbow isn't intended to be his main weapon, Conjure Barrage is, so i considered WIS, STR, and especially CON to be more important. Add in that he's the slowest character and his weapons aren't reliant on aiming well and you end up with low DEX. I suppose I could have switched around DEX, CHA, and INT, but none of them were overly important to the build so I went with what felt in character
