This is the fifth original song in my Drums-First Series, which are songs that I write originating with drums. Normally I write with guitar so this series is a creative journey meant to send me in new directions. How it works is I sit behind the drum kit and come up with a few parts that I think work together (verse part, chorus part and maybe a bridge or instrumental part), figure out the structure of the song and then record the drums for the whole song. At this point I have no preconceived idea what the melodic instruments or vocals will be doing. The drums lead, followed by bass and then guitar and vocals as well as keys. I build the song layer by layer based on what works nicely with the previous layer. I am having so much fun creating songs this way and I hope you enjoy taking this journey with me :)
