Dexcom monitor is not always accurate, a false reading can equal a incorrect dose.

I agree, also it is not new and it is not revolutionary news as they seem to be trying to make out. yet the technology is good it is not the be all and end all as the efficacy of pre-bolusing and tricating the delay times of the insulin by recording your own results will still work more efficiently when done right than this technology because the insulin still has a certain onset time so by the time the meter sense glucose and administers insulin there will still be glucose spikes even with the lowest GI foods containing carbohydrates.
Even glucose manufactured from glycogenesis and gluconeogenic synthesis there could still potentially be blood sugar spikes when controlling blood glucose with manufactured insulin.
So although it is worth being highly grateful for any technology and appreciative of the fact that we live in an age that can provide it, it is not yet that creates non type 1 diabetics.
I do wonder how much research is going into the AUTIMOUNE RESPOSNE, after all this is the only thing that stops the body producing insulin

      @@MrPokerblotmy concerns are as follows.
      1) this just creates bigger invoices being sent out for medical equipment than before to either individual or nhs in the case of the uk
      2) we lose even more of what little acceptance or understanding there is. because now there's technology "as good as a cure" why should they get an extra 5 minutes here or get to sit down there.
i find this artificial news damaging at best

Insulin pumps have been around for about as long as I've been type1 (24 years) Didn't interest me then & don't interest me now. And there will NEVER be a cure, because the moment there is, is the moment all these multi billion pound companies stop earning off of our misfortune.

My son (5) was diagnosed at 21 months. He’s been using the Omnipod and the dexcom sensor. The Omnipod seems to be doing its job, while the dexcom device is horrible.

It's nothing new. It's just a closed loop system, not an artificial pancreas. The Dutch have the real thing

Nothing about this is new ive had an insulin pump that is an artificial pancreas for many years now in canada. Anyways if they are only just getting something like this now they are very far behind. Anyways maybe its new for that particular insulin pump manufacturer but again its absolutely and definitely not anything new.🤷‍♂️👍✌️
