  • So I've made some significant usability and reliabilty improvements to the my Quad Cortex rig after a bunch of gigs where I just placed it on the floor in front of me. I've got a pedalboard for it and my wireless receiver, the pedalboard has a hardcase to protect and consolidate the rig for transit. I also use a hardcase for the guitar now. Plus, during the show, I want the QC out of harm's way, so I do my preset switching with a MiDi controller.

    My rig is very similar! The Boss BCB-1000 went on sale here in Canada (the one that looks like a heavy duty carry on suitcase) so I snagged it and mounted the QC, Line 6 10s Relay, a Crybaby and the Peterson Stomp HD (I like the sweetened tunings). With the capture of my Tophat Emplexador head, it’s the best live sound I’ve ever had. My back likes it, too. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

    Some good ideas here. I used to run Amplitube as backup in case the QC failed, got stolen, whatever. In the end though, I bought a 2nd QC that I keep in a hard case along with its power supply as a backup. I update it from the cloud before every gig. It's nice peace-of-mind knowing that not only can I have a good backup for the set, I have a second power supply in case the crappy one fails. I also have the QC on a small pedalboard along with a Morningstar MC6 MIDI controller and a Shure wireless system. I use the tuner on the Shure rather than the tuner on the QC so I could do like you and move the QC out of harms way.

      2nd QC would be hard to justify at my level xD
      But that shure wireless with a tuner sounds kickass :D

      I fear thieves. It's like you need surveillance cameras and an honest security person to guard your equipment. You go to the bathroom, come back to find out that one or all of your pedals or guitars are gone.

    Love the video. I’m using helix into a Powerstage 170 into a small cab for live shows. I run a feed with IR to front of house and then use the Powerstage and cab for stage volume.

      @BedroomGuitarHero  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried doing that once with the QC (running one input with IR to FoH and another without IR to a poweramp and cab) and it didnt work out well for me, cause I was an idiot and now I'm scared to try again, as just going DI to FoH has worked fije so far in comparison :D

    Get a right angle adapter for the power supply to eliminate the danger of braking the jack and so that you don't have to unplug it everytime you put the board into the case

  • @patdelaney
    @patdelaney หลายเดือนก่อน

    I thought the transmitter on those wireless units was designed to be plugged into the receiver for transportation. You fully insert it, then pull it back a notch to prevent it from discharging the battery, right? Not sure I’d be comfortable with the jack protruding off the side like you have it-it seems like a recipe for a major problem IMHO!

    i plan to get a Sennheiser guitar wireless system for the next time I'm on stage. You're right, there are too many quarks with the practice type budge wireless systems to be relied up on.

      I am having difficulties with this WL50 system right now, had serious issues on the first festival we played, and I’m having problems at our rehearsals with it now…
      But tbh my bandmates have simpler cheaper units that havent had the same problems

    Using the MIDI footswitch, you can't see what you are controlling. If you are using different scenes for each song, the MIDI footswitch would not be an option, you need to see the screen.

    Hello mate, I have the Blackstar Logic but I am not able to program it with the quad cortex, I have seen your other video but it is not what I need, how would I have to do so that every time I change the preset in the logic, the previous one turns off preset? They all stay on for me. Thank you so much.

    Do you use any in-ear monitor systems? And if so, how would you go about doing so while still keeping a minimal setup with little to know packing and unpacking? Great video! Thanks.

    • @BedroomGuitarHero
      @BedroomGuitarHero  ปีที่แล้ว

      Our band uses a very simple IEM system by XVIVE (U4). Its just one mono mix for everyone. All we need for that is small, rechargeable receivers and one small rechargeable transmitter that plugs into the the desk at the venue, so remains compact, but I wouldnt say its reliable as the mix depends on the sound guy.

      Thanks! The stands are by gear4music, but I would recommend them if you have a steady desk, they shake quite a bit on my ikea one 😅

    • @BedroomGuitarHero

    you’ve ever played kemper and fractal fm series? how compare to this quad cortex for sound quality and feel?

    • @BedroomGuitarHero
      @BedroomGuitarHero  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve recorded using a kemper, QC defo feels like a far more premium product in terms of build and interface. I prefer it for the sound too, but I think at that point it is a bit hair-splitty and subjective

    Have you found a way to tune using the midi pedal and not turning around to see your quad cortex?

    • @BedroomGuitarHero
      @BedroomGuitarHero  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, unfortunately not :p
      I dont generally have to tune during a show. Locked nut with the floyd helps with that.
      I used to play with an unlocked nut and not have problems either, 1 tuning before we play is enough. I put this down to stretching strings when tuning.
