As someone who also intentionally lives a boring island life in the PNW this deeply resonates, however I am still struggling with detachment from feeling like I need to be more social to have an impact or full life. When I'm alone in nature I see so much, so many magnificent encounters, and it's just for me in that moment, no other human being is witnessing what I am in that moment and it feels like a Divine gift. Thank you for this ❤
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your openness. The way you describe your experience when being in nature transports such a deep feeling of contentment and a sense of home, I love how connected you are with nature! I absolutely understand your struggle though. Please know that you are worthy and impactful despite not being more social. You have greatly impacted me in the most beautiful way by sharing this message with me. It's the little gestures which are the most impactful. You have a lot to offer by simply being the way you are.
I had a sweet uncle who wouldn’t allow the use of the word ’bored’ saying that boredom is a state of mind and since we control our minds, there’s no reason to be bored. 😊 One more thing please: I envy your surroundings, they invoke so many memories.
Thank you for letting us partake in the pure beauty of this magical pool scape . Something I absolutely would also do; go to a magical place even if it’s a difficult journey ❤
You are most welcome, Margit. Talking of pool scapes you might be referring to the video before this one? I'm glad you agree that it's worth it to venture out there despite it being difficult to access. I would take you along anytime!
Thank you for your appreciation, these sweet words and for pointing out this tiny but significant difference in wording, it truly is such an important reminder! Have a peaceful day, Douglas.
This is not the first time i comented on your Chanel. I still remember feeling out of place as an 40 year old Azorean guy since everyone goes to festivals and what not. Still fascinates me that you are so similar to the way i am and you see life in such a different way. Thank you for being the friend that i never had but i feel that gets me.
I remember you, Durval. Thank you for commenting again and for sharing your experience with feeling out of place so vulnerably. It is so meaningful to me that you feel seen and a sense of belonging in what I share and I am honored to be the friend you never had. Wishing you all the best!
Even when things seem boring find something you enjoy doing. Read a book, go to Sao Miguel and enjoy the hot springs, get a massage, and think about how fortunate you are. Sadly my health is bad. It restricts me but I never worry about tomorrow when today is enough to bear.
I believe that letting myself experience boredom is important. Oftentimes it is the foundation for my creative work. We tend to replace boredom with work, fun, habits or our phones all the time but I think it's not always the best to constantly distract myself and keep busy. I'm sorry to hear about your poor health. I hope you are able to find comfort in whatever brings you joy!
I think most people are not bored enough lol Because they are afraid to listen to their interior world. Afraid to discover themselves. We all have to explore life in balance beetween the interior and the exterior world. That equilibrium is different from each person. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.
Socializing, It’s an odd thing to dwell on. The rare times I’ve left my isolated little farm, venturing out with good intentions of experiencing the pleasure I see others having, I always end up feeling like an outsider observing an event meant for others. Usually after a short amount of time I head back to my sanctuary wondering why I though it would be different that time. I go home to my boredom where the quiet of it lets me better hear the trees whisper stories.
This is such an accurate description of how I'm feeling each time I find myself on an event. Thank you for sharing, Robert, I appreciate it so much. It's a wonderful thing to encounter likemindedness 🙏
@@RahelStadler 🙏🏻 It really is rare to find someone who shares the same struggle. I often ask myself what’s wrong with me. I’m hoping the answer is nothing and that the rest of the world just needs to get it together😎 Thank you for your openness, it’s helped more than you know.
Thank you for making me smile, for making me feel seen and for sharing your perception so vulnerably. You are definitely not alone with asking yourself what's wrong with you, I have asked myself the very same question countless times.
@@RahelStadler I truly believe there are more of us out there, but by our very nature we are reclusive so the odds become exponential. Something undefinable is off kilter with humanity, many of us feel that to the core. If my plans don’t fall through on sailing to the Azores next year I hear the tea is excellent, would be a worthy discussion. Ciao
Perfect timing as I was bored out of my mind this morning. Too warm (36°C) and too much sun to enjoy nature. 200,000 people at the Minnesota State Fair today (too many). And no to do list either. So I started cooking. My first attempt at vegetarian lentil oat patties actually turned out well. Not a bad day afterall.
I love that, Andy. I love everything about it: that you have time to feel bored, that you let yourself be and don't dive into any kind of work right away, that instead you invent yourself in a new way by exploring vegetarian cooking and throughly enjoy yourself. A perfect example of how boredom can become a lovely foundation of creative endeavors.
Hallo Rahel.
All people have their good and bad days. I also have problems to be social of som reasons. But I know that you love the island, even if it can be boring sometimes. I remember that video when you looked up at the mountain, and turned around, with a smile that said so much, I really loved to see that smile, you love the nature around you. I also would rather have the most beautiful nature around instead of much people, that make me unsecure and worried. I will go to either Faial or Pico in January February, and take with my 🐕. Dont be afraid if I se you, and ask if you're Rahel, I'm probably very shy, and don't dare to ask you! But I always love your videos
You are absolutely right, I do love this island and it's nature. I'm glad you are are soon able to experience it for yourself. You can of course come up to me and say Hello if you see me.
Thank you, Rahel, I really enjoyed the video, I only regularly watch a couple of TH-camrs, you of course and "The Adventures of an Old Seadog" Barry, a down-to-earth English man sailing slowly around the World on his own, is well worth watching regarding your video topic! Solitude enhances creativity and only the strong are happy with their own company for long periods of time.
My pleasure, Nick. Thank you so much for your thoughtful words and for the sweet recommendation, I'm definitely going to check out his channel. Sending calm, sunny Pico-evening wishes to you and your family!
I asked you about this mysterious beach on Pico island from one of your previous videos... I found it while I was on my trip there.... It was magical. Thank you.🥰
Are you sure it's the exact same one because I just found out that there is a new beach here on Pico, which I have not been to yet. Was ist sandy or where there round stones?
Ah yes, I think I know which one it is. It's not the one from any of my previous videos. I only featured the little beach on the north side in an old video ("My happy place")
I call it ordinary life. I prefer the ordinary life to the exciting, eventful life because ordinary life/boring life is liberating. There are no commitments, obligations or responsibilities. It's relaxing and peaceful. It's my ideal life.
In nature there is no boredom, only beauty, wonder and the undiscovered.
I love your point of view. Thank you for sharing, Ron. Best wishes to you!
