Synthetic clothes, plastic storage, white flour or sugar. Making do with the 7 new paper towel rolls I have. Canned beans or veggies. I plan to make my instant pot earn it's spot on my counter. Transitioning to storing stuff in jars, baskets and metal containers. I do have a lot of plast containers already, but am committing to donating some and not purchasing any more.
I have just started a major photograph declutter. My goal is to avoid buying huge packages of prints and see if I can opt for digital copies that I can print, if I need to. Seriously, I have about 4 huge Rubbermaid bins full of photos that I must go through and organize.
Honestly, and this is just a suggestion bc I know you like to be minimal: you really don’t need baby towels. I usually ended up using regular towels for baby and they work just fine and get the job done after bath time. There’s so many “baby” things that they market to you making you think you *need* them and you really don’t! And I found some of this out after two kids. If we ever have more kids, I won’t be buying much.
There was a time not too long ago where I felt like returning things I bought became a part-time job! It’s lovely to have to that nearly as much. It would take up too much brain space!
Spring & summer'22 I wanted to downsize on my garden to focus on getting pregnant & conceived in Aug 😊.. this year the SAME thing happened & I'm expecting my Irish twins in May. (My 7 mth old & 18 wks with my 2nd) #bumpbuddies🤰🏽🤰🏻 Mama Advice: def invest in maternity bottoms but just size up in regular clothes for tops so U can continue wearing your clothes once baby boy has arrived. U dont need "baby towels" i use regular standard size towels for my daughters. If u insist on getting 1 of those hooded towels knock urself out but a normal towel will suffice as a minimalist for me.. it can grow with them & EVERYONE can make use of them
I’ve never made a list of things I’m not going to buy for a new year. I do want to do it this year. I lost my husband last November and I think a bad way I handled it was spending money. I need to really limit myself on what I spend money on this year. I need to remember that I am no longer a 2 income household.
Regular towels work for babies, too, don't worry. You don't need extra baby towels. 😉 (Shops have a lot to offer that isn't needed when it comes to babies since we don't think clearly then. Everything is so cute and it's easy to overconsume. Even if you can resist - chances are someone in your surroundings can't 😅)
No books until my to-be-read pile is read 😂 No dishes until we declutter the mix mashed ones we have and I can actually take stock. This year will be a bedding year as two of my kiddos changed bed sizes, so my “extras” are now in full time use and starting to wear.
I'd like to share with you my expectations around maternity clothing as I had a similar belief during my pregnancy. I only wore a handful of maternity clothes and they were great after having the baby for everyday lounging, getting covered in baby mess etc. I wore them for another 4 ish months post partum. Your body will change even after birth and it might stay that way. For me, my chest expanded so a lot of my work clothes no longer fit around the shoulders/chest and my hips also expanded so I am no longer wearing pants, just dresses and skirts until I find a pair of pants that fit my new shape. I even bought a non-maternity wrap skirt for pregnancy that was great but afterwards it no longer worked with my new body type!
Bedding is my one weakness and books but bedding most definitely is something I do not need to buy for. When I can get to the linen cupboard I will declutter. I don’t need to buy candles as my hubby makes them as a hobby so I’m very lucky I have loads of candles x
So excited for your baby 😍 when i was pregnant I wish I'd bought maternity clothes that could also be used for breastfeeding! Especially because my belly didn't immediately disappear after having my baby. I got some things second hand, but if you're renting that's definitely a type of clothing item to look out for as it does double duty and is way more flexible and can be worn for more than one stage of your Mama journey. Oh and with plants, I definitely recommend getting rid of any poisonous ones.
I must say that I did do very well in 2023 except on the food part. Way too much money spent on food and junkfood so that definitely has to change in 2024.
First of all congratulations on the upcoming birth of your child, yes you will be a great mom! ♥️ I found this video thought provoking and realistic, thank you! Plants…I am a gardener and well you know lol…I will get rid of duplicates in 2024, which will probably mess with the Feng Shui! I resolve to not buy clothes, cleaning supplies, books. 2023 was a big step for me. I gave away all clothes that no longer fit so someone else could enjoy them now. I gave away furniture that I did not need plus everything that I don’t use. It was emotional! 🙂 but satisfying.
Ashlynne, please reconsider the towels idea. You’ll find that specific baby-sized towels will not always work well and that you’ll need more than you think as your baby grows. We have two kids and their infancies were quite messy and we went through many, many towels. I agree with not stockpiling, for sure, but keep your options open. Congratulations on your coming little one!
I am also not buying cleaning supplies until I use what I have. Clothes will be limited too and look at clothes mentor and thrifting.i have downsized from a large home to an apartment so have decluttered decor and will decide on more to declutter on my everyday decor now that Christmas is done.
Babies can totally use regular towels and regular washcloths. Just FYI. I got all those specifically for baby items my first pregnancy but I was over it with my third.
Yesss!!! Exactly! 4 year minimalist, almost 5. I did not buy ANY maternaty clothing. I just wore normal comfortable clothes All the time, that I would already wear before pregnancy and long after. It sounded nice, but I just never bought them. I had a whole plan to save a box of maternity clothes for each time someday in the future im pregnant, and decided to skip it. Though I Will be keeping a box of Newborn items for the next pregnancy. But I'm limiting it to One box (Clear plastic with a lid, on the smaller side). And the rest, as my daughter grows out of things, I'll give away so that Others can use it Right Now
We are not buying clothes, books, hot sauce and kitchen items. We have been switching out subscription services for the past couple years and it has been great! Once we get tired of the shows on one platform we get a different one. It’s really exciting to see what shows have new seasons!
I’m not buying Christmas wrapping supplies for the next 7-10 years! Between my supply and what I inherited I may even be set a bit beyond 10 years. We’ll see!
Congratulations on your little one! I wish I could skip buying maternity clothes, but all my pants/jeans were XS (extra small) size, skinny and baggy ones, and they stopped fitting after the end of the first trimester(some even earlier than that). I honestly don’t know if my body will become that skinny again to fit in them! Lol! So maternity bottoms saved me! Just 4 pairs in total, 2 pairs of jeggings, 1 pair of leggings and 1 pair of sweatpants. I live in them, pairing them with my regular non maternity tops! And I will definitely need them for a few months postpartum, until I will see what my new “shape” will be! 🙂 Regarding baby items, that’s definitely difficult for a first time mom, I have made a huge research of what are the real necessities and what are just “marketing”! We’ll see, keeping it both functional and minimal! 🙂 Sending love to you and your family! ❤️❤️❤️
with maternity clothes i agree, although there’s a couple things you will need as you get bigger (like leggings or jeans) and also i thought the same thing about not wearing as much to justify buying it but i won’t have just one kid. So if you think about that you will still use on the kids to come
You might be surprised about how long you'll find use in maternity-clothing... your body doesn't go back the way it was and the maternity clothing will give a little more room, also they're more comfortable in general and allow for flexibility of movement (which you will need with a kid) and thirdly - some are just great... My sister kept a maternity dress longterm for formal occasions. it's a wrap style, it fits to the body (you don't look pregnant in in at all) but you also have room for dessert ;-) Oh and the jeans with the added fabric over the belly? perfect for winter, even I have those and I've never been pregnant and don't plan to be...
I am slowly getting rid of abundance of cleaning products, creams, candles, soaps, etc. As these start reducing I plan on only buying one brand or type so that I can also consolidate space. So no more buying those items more than I need.
You did well…. I kill house plants faster than I can accumulate them.. I have 5 currently, One I have had for 20 years, a few of them about 5 years, every time I buy one these past few years, well they last bearly a year. So I have what I have. I have gotten rid of about 10th of my kitchen stuffs. That will continue.
Look into force of nature for cleaning and disinfecting! Super safe and non toxic to use around babies and pets ❤️ one system to invest in and one product to use!
I finally, good a really, good job, so I bought everything in 2023, because I had to be intentional because, broke. I plan to back off on candles, stationary, video games, fitness items, and giant water bottles.
She may not be planning to breastfeed 🤷🏼♀️. In any case I didn’t buy specific stuff, I just lifted my shirt up. I guess it depends how shy you are about that kind of thing though.
I attempted a no buy for makeup and skincare as well as books since I have so many to read already. I did excellent on the skincare and makeup only replacing items as needed and using up tons of items but did not so well on books 😅
I get the maternity clothing part. I had a hard time finding clothes that would fit me and I spent €30 on two maternity jeans from H&M, only for them not fit me anymore in about 3 weeks. I gave up and started to wear dresses all the time (stretchy, maxi, you name it) and felt much better. I still use my "maternity dresses" to this day.
I know being pregnant sometimes urge US to look beautiful in it. But somehow i never really buy maternity clothes.. when i am pregnant, i already have some Maxi dress or babydoll style blouses.. usually i wear that for special ocassion. On normal day, i choose to use normal leggings and oversized sweaters thats it.. i go to uni that way, to grocery store anywhere. Because just like u, i don't want to end up with lots of maternity clothes that i cant use later.
also can you talk about how are you setting goals and yourself up for success with to the baby coming next year? i am due at the same time as you and i am struggling to set goals since my life will change in the first semester of the year!
I’d love to suggest madeleine vlogs she’s becoming a minimalist with children of two. She doesn’t have a bottle steriliser and puts them in a bowl etc of hot water and I love her ethics. Xx
Other that food and medical care for myself and pets I can’t remember the last thing I bought. Seventh gen cleaning spray. Ok I remembered. I’m still somehow spending too much. 😩
No clothes or shoes, jewerly for myself. No hygiene items. I have enough for a solid year. No towels or bedding ,blankets for the house. No candles. No Christmas decor. No kids craft supplies or toys. Only kids clothes if they absolutely need something.
I naturally wear clothes that are loser on me so it’s been nice not having to buy maternity clothes during my current pregnancy. I did that with my first baby and they are expensive just because of it being maternity.

I’ve done this in the past year. Aside from the regular things we have on repeat the only new recipes I’m letting myself play with are French. Another good option for maternity wear is to buy regular tanks or long sleeve shirts that are tight and very long. Then they will stretch with you and you just put any cardigans you already own over them. Couple basic colors and you are set

Totally agree
Totally agree as well! Skip the baby towels! 🩷
no more christmas decor! or any other decor for that matter.
That’s a great one!
Just bin it - it's all pagan tat 😆🎄💗

I just got to say you do a phenomenal job with filming! Each clip is so intentional and beautifully interwoven into the video ❤️
A very popular baby gift is hooded towels! I bet you'll get some without needing to buy.

Such an attractive and tasteful house. Would say most of the house has a mid century vibe but an elegant and restrained one. Darling little dog too.
Ufff…. Cleaning supplies, shower gel, and bath bombs. I have waaaay too much and need to use it up. Thanks so much for the video :)
Babies can totally use regular towels and regular washcloths. Just FYI. I got all those specifically for baby items my first pregnancy but I was over it with my third.
Ashlynne I’ve been watching u for a few years now well before u were married. You’re gonna be a great mother.

Love the idea of thrifting. I do that a lot, and the bargains are really worth it.

We love our board games too, but they are quite tricky to play with an infant. Not a lot of hands-free time over here.
I love seeing your bump.🥰🥰🥰
You look adorable pregnant ❤ a tip buy maternity/nursing friendly clothes because they will be your uniform once baby is here. 😊 merry Christmas
She may not be planning to breastfeed 🤷🏼♀️. In any case I didn’t buy specific stuff, I just lifted my shirt up. I guess it depends how shy you are about that kind of thing though.

Those chocolates look delicious. You can definitely use them immediately because a lot of people love chocolate
I agreed 100% with not buying maternity clothes, it’s not really functional or comfy except for the nursing bras

Love your haircut!
The key is to do it consistently.
Other that food and medical care for myself and pets I can’t remember the last thing I bought. Seventh gen cleaning spray. Ok I remembered. I’m still somehow spending too much. 😩
You will be a great mom❤
Wow never been first before! These are great ideas 💡
Aww that’s so fun!! Thank you!
What were those cleaning tablets wrapped in brown please? I couldn’t quite get the name. Thanks
Tres belle video ashlynne 😊😊
Ashlynne you’ll be bringing in so many baby items this coming year that you won’t want anything more.🥰💙
i make most of my cleaning things
Same. Vinegar and baking soda work wonderfully. Can't stand the smell of most cleaners, especially bleach.
@@serenakoleno9338I use rubbing alcohol and coconut oil many things. I do use dish soap too.
No clothes or shoes, jewerly for myself. No hygiene items. I have enough for a solid year. No towels or bedding ,blankets for the house. No candles. No Christmas decor. No kids craft supplies or toys. Only kids clothes if they absolutely need something.
I remember that video sheesh doesn't feel like it was a year ago...
I naturally wear clothes that are loser on me so it’s been nice not having to buy maternity clothes during my current pregnancy. I did that with my first baby and they are expensive just because of it being maternity.
Same here. Most of my clothes are a size bigger just cuz I hate fitted clothes and it’s been nice not having to buy maternity specific clothes
I wish I could have done that! I was All on board for not buying maternity clothes during my first pregnancy but my belly gets so absurdly big and round, I start in reg size xs and end up in maternity size med 😅 so I’m definitely thankful maternity clothes exist
Inspiring video ❤
Inspiring ❤️
Awesome dear 😊😅😅😅🎉🎉🎉😂❤❤
Great
I guess I can’t justify spending almost a $100 a month on a clothing rental place for 6 items. As a minimalist, can you explain, I thought minimalism was also about saving money. So I guess I just don’t understand. 😅
I’m in U.K. so this is my guess.
Not sure how much the clothing is in dollars although I would guess $100 wouldn’t get a whole lot of good quality stuff, but I guess she might prefer having the options which she can chose from and rotate, also it’s very environmentally conscious to share the items with other people.
My daughter uses a clothes rental and it helps her have a changing wardrobe for her job and she doesn’t have a stuffed closet- she would spend that amount every year if she bought clothes for work. I don’t need clothes for a job so it wouldn’t work for me. So I think it depends on a lifestyle
Totally unrelated, but your baby bump looks so cute!!! 😊
u wouldnt believe how much money u save on the carnivore diet. cause u only eat meat. no junk food at all. and it makes shopping so much easier. cause I just pick up beef mostly lol.and I just make simple meatballs with salt. sometimes bacon and cheese mixed in and throw in my air fryer. the most simple and easiest and most satisfying diet I ever tried.
In 2024, I will not be buying special ingredients for a single recipe.
I’ve done this in the past year. Aside from the regular things we have on repeat the only new recipes I’m letting myself play with are French. By picking one cuisine you get more ingredients that overlap from recipe to recipe so you’re less likely to have food waste. I already cook a lot of French food so I’m leaning into that. If I want Middle Eastern or Mexican food I’ll just order takeout. It’s actually saving in the long run by eliminating pricy one-off ingredients.
Save your cash for a rainy day ❤
Another good option for maternity wear is to buy regular tanks or long sleeve shirts that are tight and very long. Then they will stretch with you and you just put any cardigans you already own over them. Couple basic colors and you are set
I’m don’t buying clothes. Make up. Impulse items etc. lol
It will be hard for me. But I try not to buy new houseplants in 2024.
You both may need to clear out some adult board games to make room for baby/young children games & puzzles!
In regards to impulse purchases, don't go to target all the time. Many other influencers are noticing that they too are spending too much on impulse purchases there, Costco, trader Joe's,...
I bought some silly things already this year, but tonight I reviewed my budget and cancelled 3 subscriptions
Why this lack of colour and so many plants instead if art?
The bump is bumpin!!!!
I won’t buy anything more for my kitchen.
Nah... maternity clothes can be worn for years. The h&m mama line is great. You wouldn't even know they're maternity.
Ur so cute💋😘😘😘👄👄😘😘💋💋💋💋
Please stop with all the baby references. I know you are excited but the constant reference to you being pregnant is old.
You’re watching a channel of a woman who is pregnant with her rainbow baby. You will get references to her pregnancy and baby. There are thousands of other channels who don’t mention pregnancy.
it's actually interesting for most viewers lol. no need to leave rude comments about what she can do on her own channel
I love the projecting on the internet 😂😂
Wow. How very rude.
WOW! Perhaps you should check your attitude or even better think before you leave such a rude comment!
Where’s you get that adorable maternity robe dress thing 🥹 I’m not ready for a baby yet but when I am I NEED one
