    Hello
I have an ancient Omron SYSMAC C40P controller with a C120-PRO15 programmer on board.
When turned on in all modes (RUN, MONITOR, PROGRAM), it requires a password. Can you help? It's a pity to throw it away, I could have worked more!

      @ACCautomation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Usually, there is no password. Make sure the slide switch is on MON. Then push CLR, MON, CLR.
You will find this on page 6 of the following manual.

I hope this helps you out.

      Thank you very much
I also now noticed in the video that at start they type this key combination. Thanks for the PDF, I will understand. You can ask another question. This series of controllers are programmed only with a special C120-PRO15 (PRO25) programmer or can the same actions be performed in software (CX-Programmer v.5)?

The C40P is an older Omron PLC and is not supported in CX-Programmer.
In order to use a software package, you must use a host link module on the unit with software called Syswin (Windows XP or older) or LSS - Ladder Support Software (DOS).

The best way currently in my opinion is to use the handheld you currently have.

I need your help with a sysmac c40k. It’s part of a small printing press and all the start and stop switches go through it.
Recently the contactor to the main motor suffered a burn out and the overload protector on the contactor must have sent a signal to the PLC. I have replaced the contactor and protector but when the start button is pushed the output light on the PLC just flashes. The PLC has an eeprom in it so I’m assuming the program is still intact and running because everything else that it runs is still working fine. Is there something that needs to be cleared or reset?

Found this controller installed on an old SprayBake paint booth for an auto Body Shop. Found the battery failed, replaced it but the system was down for over an hour. Program is most likely wiped from memory now. I have to contact Spray Bake to see if they have a way to upload the original program from 30+ years ago into the controller lol

      Hi Bullish Bear,
You are correct this was over 30+ years. SprayBake was located just north of Toronto in Vaughan. I did visit them a few times when I was with Omron Canada. This machine probably originated here.
If you can get a copy of the program file, it was written with the DOS programming software LSS or windows version Syswin. I have the software to interpret the program and convert it to mnemonic code.
Here is the website. An email address is located at the bottom of the page.
      spraybake-booths.com/home.htm
You will need a handheld controller to enter the code.

I know at one point, SprayBake sponsored Dale Earnhardt (Sr), who came and visited the shop.

    Gary,
First off thanks for this video very informative. We are having trouble with our C28K. Everything appears to be working but the Run and Output lite on the unit come on when engaged but quickly go off. Any idea on this one? We have lost function at the control panel

      Thank you for your comments.
It sounds like the power supply of the unit is not working correctly. Do you have a handheld device attached to the controller? If so, please ensure that the switch is in run mode. The PLC will look at this switch when powering up to determine what mode to place the controller into.

Gary - what happens if you lose battery for a period of time? What information is lost within the controller?

    • @ACCautomation
      @ACCautomation  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lauren,
This controller has either an EPROM chip or RAM to store the program. If you look under the cover on the left side of the CPU, you will see a socket. This is the EPROM chip socket. If it does not have a chip installed, then you are using RAM memory.
The battery will back up this RAM memory, so if you loose the battery your program is lost.
The battery also backs up the memory retentive data areas in the program like DM and HR. These will be reset to 0 if the battery power is lost.
      Hope this helps you out.
      Regards,
      Garry

    Hello, Garry,
Good video. Are you still playing with these PLCs, more specifically with the C40K ?.
    Greetings.

      Hi Jjkanal,
Yes, we are still using the Omron K series in some applications. When they finally go we have backup programs in a Click PLC ready to go.
Are you having some issues with your C40K?
      Regards,
      Garry

      Hi Garry,
I need your help to solve a problem. I have two OMRON PLCs model C40K-CDR-D and I have to be able to test them periodically for which I needed a very simple application to test the inputs and outputs. I wanted to have this application in an EPROM 2764 and when I needed to try them I would just have to put that memory in the socket and power the PLC with what I would start running by testing. You should only give me a binary file to record the EPROM in a standard recorder.
Of course I would pay you for the work, think (so you can take pity on me) that for you it would not represent a great effort but for me it would represent an invaluable help.
Could we talk about this by a more private email where I explain in more detail this matter ?.
Waiting for your news I greet you affectionately.
      Juan Jose

I would do this a different way. Purchase the handheld unit for the K series of controllers. This is the PRO15-E device that will fit in the slot on the CPU. You can then put the PLC in program mode. In this mode, you can turn on monitor the inputs and set the outputs. This is exactly what the handheld device is for doing.

What cable do I use to connect a C28K with a PC?

    • @ACCautomation
      @ACCautomation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Hero_Big92,
There is an interface that is required to connect to the peripheral port on the front of the CPU. It is called a Host Link unit.
      accautomation.ca/purchase-find-parts/omron-c20k-c28k-c40k-c60k/#Special
The RS232 cable is then just a three-wire with some jumped signals on each end. Here is a picture of the cable pinout names.
      accautomation.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/How-to-implement-the-omron-host-link-protocol-vb-net-050-min.png
If you are just looking to quickly read, write and modify the program in your C28K then a less expensive option is to use a handheld programming console. This will do one line at a time.

Yes, I have worked on the P type PLC's as well as the K type. The K family uses the P type expansion units. Programming is done using the same hardware as the K type.

    • @ACCautomation
      @ACCautomation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi MEGA NooB gaming
In order to connect to the PC, you would need a Host Link unit for the PLC.
      accautomation.ca/purchase-find-parts/omron-c20k-c28k-c40k-c60k/#Special
You are looking for a 3G2C7-LK201-EV1 unit. This is an RS232 host link. The software required to retrieve the program and print the ladder logic is called Syswin. You will find this at the link above as well.
Syswin will only run on Windows XP.
The cheaper alternative is to use a handheld device for the Omron Series PLC.
      accautomation.ca/purchase-find-parts/omron-c20k-c28k-c40k-c60k/#Peripheral
You are looking for a 3G2A6-PRO15-E. This handheld can be used to view the mnemonic code which can then be translated into a ladder on a current software package like the Click Programming Software.
      accautomation.ca/series/click-plc/
I hope this helps you out.

Sorry I was thinking C60K. Syswin (Windows XP) would still be the software that you will need to communicate to the Omron C60H through the DB9 connector on the CPU unit.
This post will show you the communication cable pinout.

      Hi Juan,
In order to communicate with software this unit requires an adapter that will mount on the same port as the PRO15 hand held unit.
Here is the communication adapter: (Host Link Unit)
      www.omronkft.hu/nostree/pdfs/plc/cxxk/w182e11a_c_k_host-link-units_system_manual.pdf
There are only two software packages that can communicate to the host link for programming:
DOS based system - LSS (Ladder Support Software)

Here are the cable configuration for the host link:

Note: This hardware can still be found on Ebay.
