    I must go and use mine again. I've am using a Nikon D80 with it's great CCD sensor and I treat it like a film camera keeping below 400 ISO and getting great results. I know it's different from film but it is similar in looking for a different experience then from the present crop of cameras.

    I can not believe this thing has become so expensive. Mine has been in the drawer for about 15 years,actually the very last camera I used to shoot film with. A good friend convinced me to get it because he was happy with his. The friend passed away a couple of years ago and I could never part with the camera even though I have not been using it any more. I am looking forward to buying a new battery and film and shooting it again.

    Hello! What's the difference between the Olympus Stylus Zoom 115 deluxe and Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80?

    • @DecaffeinatedPhotography
      @DecaffeinatedPhotography 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I believe it's mainly the focal length - the Zoom 115 has a 38-115mm zoom range, while the Zoom 80 has a 38-80mm range.

  • @michaelangeloh.5383
    @michaelangeloh.5383 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Speaking of the flash: Doesn't it only go off when it thinks there isn't enough light?... Because when I'm outside with my Mju-1 and it's on Auto, it tends to just stay off because there's plenty of light. - It's probably even less likely to go off when you're using a higher ISO, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference (haven't used it extensively enough).

    • @DecaffeinatedPhotography
      @DecaffeinatedPhotography 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we're pretty sure the flash only goes off when it thinks there isn't enough light - but it can still be frustrating when you don't want it to go off. Still not sure if it's worth the hype, but we definitely enjoy shooting with it! May have to get our hands on a Mju-1!

    • @michaelangeloh.5383
      @michaelangeloh.5383 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is an annoyance for sure. - I'm guessing they just wanted to guarantee that the general consumer would always have enough light, by defaulting the flash to Auto. But us corksniffers use cameras differently, more artistically, so to us it's more of a problem than a solution or safety. - I do wish that at least they'd have designed it so that it would remember the last setting. But I honestly don't know if that would require an extra chip or something, and thus raising the costs.
      I'm sure the camera, as well as the Mju-1, is great quality for what it is. But I think the Mju-II has a bloated reputation and pricetag now, just because it's supposed to be this "higher level" thing. It's like with the Contax 2 or whichever that really popular one is now.

    Guys one question, if i have the quartzdate version, if i remove the battery, will the date reset?

  • @aperturecollect
    @aperturecollect 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have hardly ever gotten an out of focus photo from this camera. Occasionally it focuses on something I hadn't intended on shooting, I would say it's user error and this camera really is amazing. Not as good for as many situations is the original 3.5 model, but that one is also very good and much more affordable. I got both of my MJUii for about $5 at a thrift store (a few years apart) I thought about selling them, but I like them too much.

    • @aperturecollect
      @aperturecollect 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I'm not going to use the flash, I turn the flash off when I turn it on and leave the clam shell open while I'm walking around. As long as you don't close it the flash stays off. Be careful with the focus when you half press. It's not like the new cameras with dual point autofocus and all that. The camera works fine with remote control also.

      No tutorial, we do it in Premiere and I can give you the steps:
      - Scale in to desired frame size
      - Set anchor point to the object
      - set a keyframe, go forward a couple frames, move the anchor point to the object again
      - Keep going until you're done
      It's pretty tedious haha

  • @tomislavmiletic_
    @tomislavmiletic_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Correction - when you open this camera, it is set to "auto flesh", what's not forced flash, meaning if there's insufficient ligt, it fires the flash. However, the flash will not fire if there's plenty of light...

    • @tomislavmiletic_
      @tomislavmiletic_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moreover, if you want to use this camera without flash out of the box, use high sensitivity film...

  • @michaelangeloh.5383
    @michaelangeloh.5383 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have an Mju-1, which arguably isn't any less revered. - Actually, it is exactly that. So I should say that its quality isn't any less appreciated, but the Mju-II seems to get a lot more credit and hype for some reason. (Well, probably because it has the slightly faster lens, with 3.5 compared to 2.8. But for a P&S and something you more often than not use for more general scenes, what is the point of it?... You can't set the aperture anyway, and it's not like you're going to use this to get your sweet BOKE on.) - I wouldn't bother with the Mju-II just because of its hype, unless you really insist on that lens or want it in your collection, but rather go with the Mju-1 or something similar, perhaps even older.

    Cool and enthusiastic review. You have to get used to switching off the flash - just a quick "bip-bip" with the corner of your nail on the button on the back and you are good to go. But you were unlucky with both the focus and the price! Mine has been super reliable with the focus. As for the price, these are old cameras - get them from your granny!

    This camera would be worth it if the price was under 50 €, but with the current price it's not. Also the auto focusing isn't really that fast, so it's really not that good for candid street shots (a better option would be the XA-series).

    Two huge issues for me, the annoying turning off the flash every damn time I open the cover, and the fact that I can't set ISO, this is the biggest issue for me as I like to pull some film (Portra 400, Kodak Gold 200). Great lens though, the images are very sharp for P/S and metering is spot on most of the time. I can't complain I got the camera for free :). Great video, thanks!

Anyone paying more than $30 for this camera are just giving into street retail hype.
