- "Edge of Desire" is one of John Mayer's most beautiful songs. This cover is an acoustic interpretation that draws inspiration from Mayer's own acoustic home recording and his live performance at Hollywood Bowl in August of 2010. I'm honored to be joined here by the breathtaking singer, McKenna Breinholt, of Cinematic Pop fame.

It’s rare to see someone cover John Mayer’s songs but this is one of my favorites. I’m so used to John’s version I missed the emotion he puts to his words. I do like that you raised the melody up in the second half. Very different from the original but an interesting improvisation. it’s tough to beat the original
Thanks for the feedback, Sheryl! It was always a dream of mine to practice this song enough to be able to play and sing at the same time. It wasn't ever my aim to outdo the original, but I guess I'm honored to even be compared to it!

@@rickhalemusic I’m a new fan of yours so everything worked out cool. If JM ever sang to me (hypothetically of course as I’m 65)“don’t say a word just come over and lie here with me” I think I’d faint or pee myself. I’m no music critic but I studied piano 14 yrs and play by ear so hearing a different melody for a favorite song was intriguing ,. I can appreciate anyone who not only takes him on but changes the melody too. You’re the only one I’ve ever seen do it and well. How long is your thumb, maybe Neon next 😉😍
