Love you, Kate. I am a 65 year-old man, and ever since I first heard this sublime song in 2010 it has never failed to make me cry like a baby. How anyone so young could capture so perfectly and succinctly the bittersweetness and delicious anguish of falling in love is one of life's wondrous mysteries. If you had never ever written any other songs, Kate, this one alone would ensure your eternal presence in the pantheon of Great Artists along with the likes of Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart. By the way, I am from the same area of London as you; very proud of that!
Too few things in this world age as beautifully as Kate Nash and her song Nicest Thing. Also... the engine noise at the end fit perfectly. Took me a moment to realize it wasn't an instrumental sound 😅
You are awesome! Keep on being you. Ran across you being a musical performing artist on Pintrest. I was like "Awesome!!!" 1st saw you on Glow! Enjoyed you and the whole cast of Glow. Everybody in my "house" (wife, daughter, friends, etc. 🙂) was bummed when they did not pick up Glow again. Such an awesome show; loved your charecter!! This song brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for writing it and keep on keeping on!!! New fan here! Old geezer; have a daughter; play music; subscribed; never give up because U r worth it!!! YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL SOUL! 💖
I remember when my heart got broken for the first time. I was 14 and listened to this song all the time. There’s a cute little animated video by a fan, that I still watch every once in a while. Now I’m unhappily in love but I still play this song. It’s the perfect lovesong and so perfect for longing. I loved this guy for eleven years, and every time I hear this song I think about him.
Nina Simone, one of most incredible performers every to grace our ears with music once said during a performance of the song Feelings (at the 1976 Montreux Jazz Festival); “...what a shame to have to write a song like that... ...I don’t believe the situation which produced the conditions which required a song like that...” Meaning, I can’t believe the sorrow which must of existed in a person’s heart which required such a sorrowful song to need to be written... I can imagine that sorrow easily myself, because this song by Kate brings forward all of those feelings from my heart, and they crowd my chest with such great pressure, that I swear every tear I’ve ever stored away deep within me might all of a sudden come flowing out; with no ability to control them anywhere in sight. My soul mate sent me this song almost 14 years ago now, when we were just young, dumb, kids in college. And now every time I hear it from then until eternity, I will forever wonder what our lives could have been like with one another, had fate just guided us down a path where our two lives merged together.
Is there any possibility of getting ahold of your Abbey Road recording of this song? There is a moment at the end where the silence is so beautiful it makes me cry;.

I have a very similar story. I still think about that animation and person sometimes. Unrequited love gives deep memories.
same story
“Unhappily in love” ?! Stand up for yourself!
Omg you have no idea what this and meant to me when I was 14 like it was my favourite thing in the world
This is one of my favorite songs of all time.❤️❤️
This song doesn’t get the recognition. Hits hard. Not easy to play and sing that.
