As a boy in the late 50's I listened to these shows on the radio every night as I fell asleep. Years later I was able to tape them on to my cassette recorder so I could travel with them. Now I have every show I could ask for is on my phone. Thank you Old Time Radio.
I was wondering. Do you remember a show where different actors and actresses, every episode would say "Oh what a tangled web we weave , when first we practice to deceive"? Does it sound familiar?
I have been listening to these Suspense shows for about 4 years, I love how the sound effects are so creative. I truly use these stories to get through a work day. i try to tell people about the channel that I know can appreciate the stories, without foul language and real acting. My favorite are the Johnny Dollar detective stories.
I didn't grow up listening to old radio shows, but my mother and grandmother did! I got turned onto it through Siriusxm Radio Classics. And I've been hooked every since. Thank you so much!
I was recently let go from here because of the irresponsible and immature actions of my son using my account but the TH-cam team saw fit to allow me to use the account and continue on enjoying all of this fine entertainment and chatting with all of you good people. I so enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions on this stuff, and getting good advice and suggestions from you guys. I am grateful for understanding people. Thank you team
I purchased a set of these also, although mine were on a cassette disk. I think I paid fifteen dollars back in the 80s. I still have the set. A nice wooden box that resembles a tiny crate and the paper covering it was similar to the movie bills that were in use. I think there were five tapes. I'll have to check when I get back home. I could listen to them over and over, especially when I needed some time to just build a World in my mind. These shows are so wonderful to imagine with. It seems a shame that more people don't realize how well the radio works with the imagination.
I loved listening to stories on the radio! In California, I think there was a station that still played these old shows up until the 80’s. When they finally stopped airing them, I just about died. I’m not a big tv watcher, never have been. But these radio suspense theater shows were my Saturday night favorites. I would get my wine and turn down the lights and enjoy these wonderful shows every week. I did not know that TH-cam had these. Or I would have been here the very first day they were posted. In any case, I’m here now and I’m so grateful and so happy and so staying. Thank you TH-cam, you rock!! ✝️🙏🏼❤️
Once you get used to the story being described rather than seen , radio shows can become quite addictive. The Third Man, Gunsmoke, Tales of The Texas Rangers, Richard Diamond, X Minus 1, Lights Out, The Shadow, great stuff and I'm finding more great programs every day.
I'm always looking for new series to cover and you've just listed a handful right here. I'll get working on bringing these out in podcast form. If you want to get notified when I release them please sign up for my email list at otrpodcasts.com. Thanks for listening!
I really like Dragnet and Yours Truly Johnny Dollar as well as the Texas Rangers. As a kid I used to think radio shows would be so boring and that I'd rather watch TV but now I listen to these and my imagination just fills in the visual information.
I like Broadway Is My Beat, have you listened to that one? Quite poetic and addictive characters, Good writing too IMHO. Pat Novac For Hire is good too, Jack Webb in a show other than Dragnet! For comedy you can't beat Jack Benny lol Some tips for ya! 😀
The first time I remember hearing an old time radio show was what my Dad bought an LP around 1974 (I was 10) Inner Sanctum. Then I discovered a local radio station WEBR that played the Shadow. Now I’m an avid collector of Old Time Radio. Now I have nearly 100,000 shows from around the world. It’s amazing how simple life was then. I love those good old days of when radio was king.
My dad had brought in my grandfather's collection of radio shows when I was 8. The first time I listened to one was a Suspense tape on my way to school. It's probably one of the best memories I have.
there was a small town radio station on vancouver island that in the mid 2000's to the 2010's, they weren't really official, and when the dj's were gone, right at 12am they'd play old timey radio shows till like 4 am. what a time to be a be a teen with a phone with a built in radio app or am/fm clock.
I agree with the previous messages of thanks. Thank you to whomever took the time to put these online! You have no idea how happy you have made so many people! Thank you again! 😁

The first Old Radio show was Sorry Wrong Number, with Agnes Moorehead. Both my dad and I got caught up in the story and jump out of our skin when my mom got back in the car. I was about five and got hooked then and there. Thank you for sharing these great drama's. Please keep them coming.

The score was by the fabulous Bernard Herrmann. I should have expected that he did radio as well as film. An interesting topic might be radio plays that were scored by him.

Is it weird that I’m a teenager and I’m watching all these
age has nothing to do with it. your curiosity does.
It gives you an advantage over every teen who only lives for what is current.
Let's got to sleep everyone
The only way to do it!
Try CBS Radio Mystery Theatre. Good Stories.
Charles Ruggles (narrator) he has a distinct boys and has always reminded me of the moustached man on the Monopoly box.
Thanks for the Ruggles info...could not place voice....like to think for a while and enjoy the story rather than just look up.Thanks...
WBZ Boston played these in the 70’s
I miss these.
I wish you could have them all.
We're they not all salvageable?
"Suspense" loved to cast stars against type. So here, comic actor Charlie Ruggles played a dramatic role.

at 15 seconds, "Color My World" tune starts up.

We live in a world of doppelgangers🤔 now, with all the pictures and videos 😐 good story though 😊
good for lofi samples
After the guy on the train tells his companion that Marie DuPrey was burned, the conductor announces their stop : Crispin 😂

Wow, complicated!
Yes. Repeated, but the name of Marie was changed 😮
That was deliciously far fetched and corny as radio shows were back then, so corny in fact that it was really entertaining and enjoyable,
Where are episodes 3 to 9? It's super good, I want to listen to all of them!
Some of them don't exist anymore, unfortunately 😢
It's a shame they couldn't act like this on tv with these producers and writers could have been lot better o tv. The radio series is by far alot better!!!!
If I add this sound effect to woman on Voice Changer, It'll sound like Alastor's voice from #HAZBINHOTEL!
