Testing Ideas For The Photography Show 2024... LIVE!

After a gap of nearly 18 months The Photography Show (the UK's biggest photo / video expo) is back and I'll be there for all four days. I'll be running two demos a day (10:34 and 3:30 every day) on the Essential Photo / Godox / Pixapro booth using flash and LED lights.
In this live stream I'm going to share my rehearsal process. It's going to be rough around the edges but that's exactly why I trial run my set-ups. Once again the amazing Polly will be my model but to truly test my ideas I already know I'll have to be my own model... what could possibly go wrong!!!

I use a Godox X1R to introduce a Jinbei strobe to the family, but it's said to be able to fire a camera too. It's the sort of thing you need for your self portraits.

I have also noticed that when tethering the images don't load with proper resolution, is this what you were referring to that was fixed in the ver 2? tia

Nope to much hassle LED not enough power for portraits. Makes no difference how much diffusers you use to gave that dreamy look . LEDS have their place and thats for videos snd still life . I use these allday on the sign industry i wold never use them at all for portraits.

The harshness is very much down to the light mods IMHO but I do agree about the relative lack of control compared to the flexibility of flash and its superior light output.

LED has it's place but not for me not in portraits anyway. I install these everyday in the sign industry. My faithful flash much easier to lug around far better power output size ratio. Don't envy you in the show Gavin best of luck.
