Nina's vocal coming in, ripping a hole in the fabric of the universe, makes me weep every single time i hear it. No joke. 46 year old man sobbing over a weird song on youtube. Love it.
This song was always a favorite Encore. Dotschka was a great example of Memphis Blues. Rembetika demonstrates the contrast of Marco as it plays off Lena's Angelic tones. Carpathian Rap would fit contemporary Radio hits. All of their Music is great. Baby mixes Russian and Ukrainian language to demonstrate that people can get along, after Victoria Nuland's War ends......
Wauw, I’ve never heard anything like this! So captivating and interesting …. I really liked that☺️. Thank you for the suggestion and for your reaction, Jeff 💚✨🤗.
They have a pretty large following all over the Planet. The State Department appears to be a sponsor, but their Music is flawless for over 20 years. It is interesting to note the changes in how they have presented this song over the years.
Yes! That was brilliant!! Fascinating, amazing, beautiful and satisfying. I think I've heard Trio Bulgarka, likely via Kate Bush. His voice was a shock. Like a kind of throat signing. Yes, that cello, with his harmonica wrapped around it, and the syncopation of drum and piano. That felt unique. I have a big stupid grin. I feel better for that. Thank you both. Best Wishes. ☮
The Three Women can create counter rhythms amid harmony that keeps you listening to discover another facet of their musical craftsmanship for years. KEXP Crew did a nice job of miking the performance, the balance of the performers was perfect. The Cello presents a masculine tone under the voices of the three Women. Their voices are lovely and they seem like a perfect blend of talent. Marko almost seems like He attended a coarse on singing from the Brian Wilson/ Herb Khuary school of tunes. The song according to the translations I have seen , ( a mix of Russian and Ukraine words) relates a story of Three Young Girls who are stuck Babysitting their infant Brother, out in the Garden on a warm sunny day by their Family home. Lena and Nina lay down a cadence that is discussing a passing Young Man along the Road, beneath the Garden Wall where they are confined by Family Duty. About the time you are lulled into the tempo of the two Girls discussion of yonder passing Dude, Nina cuts loose with her cry of hormonal teenage angst about a lost Love. The cry of Teenage pain, was reported to relieve the suffering of a person who suffered from some form of Brain Cancer. I do feel Her voice, crying at the top of my skull as her pleas for mercy lifts hairs from the top of my noggin. The mixture of tempo and harmony, with all the layers of Marko reminding the Girls about their responsibility to watch over the "Baby" has been a crowd pleaser for many years. Standing ovation for their performance at the Kennedy Center for previous incarnations of the tune, prove it's effective nature at stirring the emotions of Human appreciation.... They appear to be a beautiful blend of Musical Perfectionists. I Dig Em....
Yes, like Trio Bulgarka, DakhaBrakha sing in the “white voice” that is ancient and common in villages in the Eastern European region. Marco doesn’t always sing in falsetto. His voice can do many things. Please check out DakhaBrakha’s extensive and varied material. They have a background in experimental theatre as well as music. Marco is also a visual artist. When the full brutal Russian invasion began, Marco considered fighting. But they do important national and international work through their music. They are truly amazing ambassadors for a free, independent and democratic Ukraine
Wow, there is a whole world of music out there! Did India just land in the Southern U.S. bayous? Did I hear a harmonica in there? Vocal harmonies were so powerful and kept building to crescendo, great stuff!! Keep it coming!!❤
As for ukrainian Trio Bulgarka sounds very bulgarian for me, and Dakhabrakha sounds ukrainian (if to take blues out) , i would not say they sound the same, like turkish and arabic folk music don't sound same. But for sure there are a lot of similarities.

Now you should listen « Sonnet » recorded at KEXP too.
You can be surprised by Dakh Daugher band too, their sister band.
They are both under the Dakh center in Kiev.
Dude that is TOTALLY a CELLO. A “double bass” is waaaay bigger!!!
It’s a soprano double bass!
Слава Україні!!!
Нажаль росiйскою
Дивись на людей і що вони співають, бути зацикленим суто на мові шкідливо.
Welcome to Ukraine)
This is Ukraine baby ❤
