As a Durham exile (leaving near Heathrow) it was really great to watch and learn from an accent I recognise! Now I feel much more confident about using my new pressy. Thanks a lot, Brian
Mate - Thank you so much for this. I'm a complete novice, and there are lots of videos out there uploaded to TH-cam by well meaning numpties, who don't really have a clue, as they clearly demonstrate by fuffing up their keypad entries. Your video explains this process, simply, and concisely. Great job, and well done!
I'll tell you how new I am at scanning; my radio will be arriving in a couple of hours and I'm just trying to get a 'heads up' on using the scanner before it arrives. I have decided to take up plane-spotting at Manchester Airport as a new hobby and have bought lots of new equipment to assist me. ("All the gear - no idea!"). If I get the hang of the scanner, I'm off to ManAir this weekend to give it a go. Thank you so much for your very informative and 'grass roots level" instructional video. No acronyms/jargon used, so I understood it perfectly. "Is that a knock on the front doo
As everyone else has said, great video. No waffle, just clear and simple to understand information. I’d also like to suggest some more instruction videos on the other features of this scanner would be well received. Thanks again.
Absolute newbie lady pensioner here at 71 taking up aircraft following and spotting through the app flightradar24 basic, set to watch my local airport, Stansted in Essex and am going to order this scanner. I have been watching some other videos on TH-cam for this make and model, which I have found much too short, confusing not at call clear and totally overwhelming, but your video is really the best, showing clearly what to do, when and how, step by step! Very well done and please, keep your tutotials coming! xx 😁❤
Nice clear instructions. I've watched so many confusing videos where the presenter waffles on, using terms like "frequency" and "channel" as if they mean the same thing. And- this is the first video where I have seen anyone explain how to move from one bank to the next ! I will definitely be subscribing. Thank you.
I'm new to scanning and been toying with the idea of purchasing this scanner as a best for beginner. Had been put off by a lot of negative comments about how difficult it is to programme but this video is so clear, straightforward and easy to follow. Many thanks. I'll go ahead and get my new scanner now.
I've read the negative reviews of this scanner on Amazon which, mostly, infer that the user needs a degree in Rocket Science to be able to program and scan with the 125 XLT. After watching this video it's clear that even I could do it. Cheers!
Thank you so much man for making this video, I know I'm 6 yrs late to the party, but i just got this radio a couple wks.' ago and just been dying cause it's rather on the difficult side for a newbie, but Thank God I found your video!! so much detail even explaining how to go into the next bank, Thank you 1000x
Excellent video my man I’ve just bought this uniden I was pulling my hair out for the last two hours before I found your video. I’m on my local airport now with your instructions. Great video 👍👍
Brilliant presentation, concise and idiot proof. It did exactly what it said on the tin. Great that you skipped the bits as a newcomer we don’t need yet.
THANK YOU SIR i was freaking out frustrated ,wow why couldn't they just print what you explained ,i was i thought locked out it should have started out with is input frequency to unlock geez ,cheers to you
That you!!!!! That is the most straight forward video I have seen ,I am buying a 125 I a week I will use that small demo to programme thank you very much 😁😁😁😁😁
Can I scan radio frequencies without set them first on the handheld? To be clearer, can I just go somewhere and the handheld just pick someone's transmission automatically without setting his frequency first because simply I dont know it before? Thank you.
Very well done training video. This is the first time I have attempted to use/program a scanning radio and I must admit, it is quite challenging for me. I use the radio primarily for military aircraft radio transmissions, fire and police dispatch and emergency disaster operations. I followed your tutorial and successfully programmed several frequencies on bank one (1) and bank two (2). Question, how do I return to bank one while listening to bank two. Also, how do I erase numbers I placed on the channel by mistake? I cant determine how to go back and eliminate unwanted numbers. I commend you for your superlative programming video and look forward to receiving your response to my questions. Best wishes, Larry CA, USA
Hi I brought my scanner pre loaded with frequency on but for some unknown reason I've lost them all when I now go to scan it says locked have you any advice to help me sort this out I know its a long shot but here's hoping thanks
I am into VHF Airband (118~137mhz), I am thinking of buying this reciever and I am also interested in the Icom IC-R30, wonder which performs best on VHF Airband, Someone says that radio world charges £10 to put on selective programs, what are selective programs.
@@edHollyman try this. Enter both of these frequencies into your scanner. 118.38 118.375 (if you can!) That’s the information service for NCL which broadcasts all the time. Are you picking that up? If not, you may either be out of range or have a dodgy scanner. Physically get closer to the airport and try again .any luck? If you do get the the ATIS (information service) , you’ve either entered the wrong frequencies for the tower, or just hit a quiet time! Let me know. Cheers.
@@ajbproductions198 Thanks for that Ant. I have not tried it yet as I have been charging the scanner from 14:00 to 22:00 yesterday and switched it off as I didnt want it charging over night. I then put it back on charge at 08:10 this morning and it still says "Charging" I think it is pretty sick!
@@edhollyman1244 always best to charge batteries independently of the scanner! Just so I can check - are you entering the frequency into, say, bank 1 …. Once on, ensure you are ONLY scanning that bank (make sure it only shows the number of that bank and says SCAN). Id not picking ATIS up, you have problems id say!!!!
Cheers fella, the Mrs treated me to one from Man Runway Visitor Centre as its our 2nd home, the shop programmed Manchester and Liverpool channels in for me. I have been a bit frustrated with it as I'm not entirely sure how to use it! Cheers
I’m new to scanning and only live in Sunderland. I have a Realistic 200 channel hand held scanner which I haven’t got a clue how to use. Do you know anyone that would teach me the basics?
Probably one of the best explained programming instructions for this scanner so far on TH-cam... great job👍🏼
I'm new to scanning, and having bought a UBC125XLT, this is the best description of how to manually program the scanner I've seen.
Many thanks!
James Stalker you said you bought it would you advise it as a 1st scanner

Great video and one of the easiest to follow, having watched about 5 videos - some videos are as confusing as the instruction book!

Hi Ant. I have done exactly as you described and entered Newcastle ATIS so i could be sure of a transmission and get absolutely nothing. HELP!

NCL (not necessarily the one listed here). Also, how near to the airport are you?

I've made a mess of my Uniden 125 XLT scanner. How doI return to factory settings, so I can start from scratch (as new)?
Simples....nice demonstration.
Will this pick up UK CB FM frequencies, a review said it would only pick up AM around 26mhz.
Great video. How do you listen to the aircraft. Does each aircraft have its own frequency
Very helpful, I was starting to tear my hair out ;)
Is it legal to scan frequencies??
