Not that it is wrong to reveal a serious illness to others, but Paul did make the decision to keep his illness from friends, fans and supporters. It was very kind of him. And yes, it was brave of him to go on interviews, likely knowing his didn't have long to live. We are so fortunate to have had him in our lives. He is loved, never to be forgotten and will be so missed.
The franchising of PeeWee Herman would have been a great sketch. They could have had an East Coast PeeWee and A MidWest PeeWee and the punchline would be Luis Guzman perform a version as PeeWee Guzman.

What I really love about Paul Reubens is he really went through hell in the press (unfairly) but his kind heart shines through. A supremely talented performer [Pee Wee, the OG Buffy role (a perfect comeback character), Blow, etc...]....This dude is truly a national treasure!
He did go through hell. It was amazingly unfair to take everything away from him when he was arrested and it took him years to build his career back up. The same sheriff who busted 2 Live Crew also arrested Paul Rubens - one can only assume the guy was trying to make a name for himself.

Since this last interview on Conan, I had to watch Pee wee’s big adventure late night this past weekend. I forgot how he pops with Tim Burton directing it. Being 39, it has brought back a lot of good memories!!

That's how I felt when, in 2020, found out about his 2016 movie, Pee Wee's Big Holiday. I think I saw the trailer, but at the time I had so much going on, I just forgot about it. I was puzzled as to why he had not done anything since, but like everyone else, I didn't know he was sick. He did do quite a bit of work even while sick. I admire him for that.
