Bruce faulkoner is a genius. plain and simple, his music made the original American dbz even more epic, and set the mood better then any music that could have accompanied it.
It's Scott Morgan who worked for bruce while bruce took the credit.. huge legal issues iwth that hence why funimation can't use the music anymore cause they no longer have the rights due to all the legal crap... tragic cause it's some of the best anime music there is
Bruce faulkoner’s team definitely made history here, but it was very wrong for bruce to take all the credit, im sure he probably contributed the least to the ost anyways
Not "more epic," just epic in a different way. And no, Bruce Faulconer did not "set the mood better then any music that could have accompanied it." Shunsuke Kikuchi's already composed his music to convey the intended tone for each scene and did so before any other composer who worked on the show, so anyone tasked with rescoring those scenes should convey more or less the same tone while putting it in his own language. There were even instances where Faulconer hated replacing Kikuchi's score with his own music.

This music is what made the series sooo great! I cant watch the anime without these beautiful master peaces in it! It creates wonder and puts me into a state of euphoric epicness and takes me to a place I can not describe. This music makes the DBZ world come to life! Bruce Faulconer, you are my hero! Hope you can make this beautiful and epic music for Dragon Ball Super when it comes to the U.S! DB is not the same without it!
@Merciless Freak so what, you just said the tracks were awful, you didn’t even mention the creator. I’m just saying that you don’t have to be rude towards someone else’s comment that has good intentions. I do not wish to offend you or anyone by saying this.
@Merciless FreakIt's not really nostalgia. The American soundtrack just sounds good and memorable to me and many others. Much more than the generic japanese score. By the same argument, it can also be said that japanese OST is only liked due to nostalgia. In my area, when dbz first aired, the regional dub had funimation script but kept the original soundtrack. Sometime after that I watched the DBZ dub with American soundtrack. Yet today, most of the memorable moments I remember about dbz are from the American dub while I don't remember much at all from Japanese score.
@Merciless Freak I understand YOU'RE a snob. An adaptation can be so in name only, but if the final product is good, it's still good - in one's subjective interpretation. Let me tell you this, I never bought into the claims that, barring the backlash to Episode 5, DBS was unique with Toei's cheap management of cutting costs. No, plenty of classic Dragon Ball Z episodes are frankly poorly made, and DBS itself possesses many finely animated episodes - such as Episode 12. And I say that all as somebody who loves both the Faulconer _and_ Kukichi scores. Just depends on context for me. If you hate the Faulconer scores, whatever... that's _your_ call. But you act full of yourself and more here to bait, not for a rational discussion. Eh, but that's the Internet, I guess. What can you do?
Does anyone else think Bruce Faulconer's music for DBZ is total genius? I find that DBZ was excellent just using the original sounds and music, but Faulconer's contribution just lifts the feel of characters and atmosphere to another level.
I felt it was hit or miss, less to do with the music itself and more the scenes they were matched with. That said, there scenes where the music of both versions were pretty stellar, such as “Day of Fate” vs “Gohan’s Anger” for the SSJ2 transformation.
Listening to this while drinking a pre workout from Kaged Muscle while warming up 🔥💪, gonna do some muscle building calisthenics and some boxing, this soundtrack always gets me pumped up 💯🔥🔥🔥👊
