  • Designed by Robert Riddles and built by BR in Brighton in 1957, No 80151 spent its working life allocated to various Southern Region sheds.
After withdrawal, it was sent to Barry Scrapyard in Wales, where it was rescued from and brought to the Bluebell Railway in 1998. It was returned to service in 2001 and gave 11 years of reliable service. After another major overhaul, the locomotive re-entered traffic in Summer 2019. In the first half of its ten-year ticket, it has been a very useful and reliable loco for the railway, capable of hauling the heaviest 'Set A' trains throughout the year.
More information is available on its Bluebell Railway webpage: www.bluebell-r...
    Footnote:
During the Branchline Gala Weekend in May 2024, No 80151 was carrying the identity of classmate No 80100, which is awaiting restoration on the Bluebell Railway.
