9:26 If my interpretation (and I think a lot of fan's interpretations) are correct, The Irene-verse is like the original without the influence of Pucci causing Part 6. This would mean that parts 1-5 happen effectively as it does normally. So Jotaro has his stand and has to deal with it to a degree, but the danger he and Irene are in is much less due to the lack of Pucci and Dio's remnants after Part 3

Seeing Joylene legit stand up against an unstoppable force with no hope of winning, seeing Jotaro give up a chance to stop Pucci to save his daughter, Ermes and Anasui going above and beyond to do everything they can to help but seeing Emporio using Weather stand to deliver the final blow is well yeah a master piece. That last line goes hard, I also like to point out that in the anime is pretty obvious the one beating Pucci up is not Emporio, but Weather's undying spirit giving him a last beatdown for all the shit he did not only to him, but also his friends, the manga makes is more ambiguous about it.

i feel like this misses what makes the ending hit so hard. emporio is the only one to remember the events of stone ocean. he has lived his whole life in prison and had long lived friendships with annasui and weather, as well as bonding with jolyne and ermes throughout the part. at the end, he is suddenly dropped into a wonderful world, where all the problems that led these people to befriend him are washed away, and they can finally be free from the curse of fate. but none of them remember him, and without the curses they held in the original universe, they are vastly different people. emporio is thrust into a world completely foreign to him that knows nothing of him, with the only thing for him to connect back to the life he once knew being his name -- emporio. the ending makes the final breaking of the joestar curse that began in part 1 into a bittersweet conclusion and does so in a way that no one would have guessed. it's the perfect way to end jojo's bizarre adventure.

Other small things I like about the ending:
Pucci abuses Jolyne's and Jotaro's need to protect their friends and family in almost every encounter, (uses Jolyne to steal Jotaros disk, puts Jotaro's disk in Anasui to escape Jolyne and in the final fight he uses Jolyne to kill all of them. I bet there are more examples like this). In the end it's the group protecting each other with ends with emporio killing Pucci with Weather's disk. That leads to them having better lives in the new world (I think that universe was not something they could predict, but it's sort of a meta reward for the sacrifices they made).
Pucci only loses because of his obsession with ending all of them, even the kid. Eve he didn't do it he would succed in his and DIO's plan, with the only loose end being Emporio (Which leads me to believe that even if Pucci died, if it had happened after the Cape Canaveral date it would be irreversible). I feel like this idea shows up in JoJo a lot. Only those fully focused on their goals and ideas get to triumph. Any time you are unsure or look strafe from the direct path to your goal you get beaten by the person with the stronger resolve. As long as Pucci's goal was to fulfil DIO's plan, he would win, or at least escape the group. But once he got too invested in killing every single one of them, he lost.
End this is a very small thing but it required an outside force, that being Emporio, to fully break the Jostar curse. Jostars caring about others is what saved them.

What I like about pt 6 is that Puccis victory wasn't neccisaraly plot armor. He was protected by Fate itself. Id like to think as soon as pucci had murged with the green baby, fate was not only on his side, but was almost taken hostage by him. Whilst throughout the Jojo series the joestars we're brought together with a similar foe influenced by the past, aswell as attracting eachother to protect one another, it suddenly became pucci with this favor from fate. Attracting dios children by fate/gravities flow. With everything that happened. Every moment that pucci had escaped the impossible. It was because fate was on his side. Not because fate wanted to. But because fate was forced to. With the joestars still being integral to fates favor, but ultimately leading to fates true favor, pucci. In the end the joestars we're the ones to help pucci make it to heaven. However. Fate isn't a willing captive. That's why as soon as pucci screws up. Once he knows all fates. And being able to be the only one outside of fates influence. Fate waited for pucci to screw up. And as soon as he did.... As soon as he put the disc in emporios head... It held back no punches. That's why In the end, fate rewards the joestars. For freeing it. And gives them a new life where they don't have to fight anymore. Dare I say, their no longer under the influence of gravity or fates grand ambition. And they can finally rest and be happy. And that's why I think pt 6s ending is so perfect.

@@L_Giancarlo It is LITERALLY the same characters though, they never died, and their souls still remain in them. That is the whole point of killing Pucci, it undoes his stand's effect and therefore returns the world back to where it was because his stand didn't finish. The only reason that the world is different than before is because Pucci is the only one to die in his world before its undone, so his soul is stuck there while it ceases to exist. Then the old world has to fill in the missing soul with a fake that has no real agency of its own and is a slave to fate, much like the fake Jotaro and Jolyne in Pucci's world (who also looked different, further implying they aren't the same souls, but Irene is). Because Pucci essentially no longer exists, his influence on the lives of all the Part 6 cast never happened. So even though its the same universe as before, the timeline changed so that Jotaro could spend time as Jolyne's father rather than fight Pucci's hired assassins, and him being a bigger influence in her life is likely why she got a different name, perhaps he wasn't even around enough to choose it himself. That's why its the nicest ending as none of the cast died and they are living their best lives.

Let's not overlook how thematically satisfying the ending is even just within the context of Part 6.
Pucci *wins*. He achieves heaven and kills off the Joestars so he's able to restart the universe without their interference. He does this because, unlike every other villain in Jojo, he's motivated by something other than selfishness. Every other villain is driven by an inward desire for power, or fear, or their own primal urges, and are undone by the righteousness of the Joestars. But Pucci *believes* in something. He's a fanatic and he's not out for himself except in so far as he needs to be alive for the plan to work. He doesn't even care if he dies as long as it's after Cape Canaveral because then Heaven still occurs. It's that belief that allows him to finally overcome what every other villain hasn't been able to escape.
But then there's Emporio. The monkey wrench in his plans from the beginning. The one bug he was never able to properly isolate, and the only wrinkle he couldn't figure out. But what's he supposed to do? He's just a kid with a non-offensive Stand. But he has memories. He knows what happened in the prior universe, so Pucci can't just let him go. So he stops time acceleration and goes in to finish him off.
Except he's not just a kid anymore. He's carrying the hopes and dreams of his friends from the first universe, and more importantly, he has Weather Report. The Stand of Pucci's his own brother whom he twice over betrayed and then murdered, the stand fueled by Weather's rage, the Stand powerful enough to end all life on Earth.
Weather Report is the *only* Stand in Part 6 that Pucci is afraid of. When he sees Weather Report in the Ghost Room, he's gripped with panic. And that's made worse when Emporio turns it on and oxygenates the room. It's then why we realize it could *only* be Weather Report, because Weather Report controls the environment. Jolyne knew this. Pucci can move fast a bullet, but only because his movements themselves are accelerated. If Pucci can't move at all, then he's powerless, and that's what happens. His panic scenario is fully realized, and he's reduced to begging for his life only to die gruesomely, with his last thought being that everything he did was undone.
Pucci is the original continuity's ultimate plotter, and it's extremely satisfying for his end to be seeing his plots unravel moments before a slow, grisly death at the hands of his brother's Stand, operated by the dumb kid he'd disregarded, who had been saved and them armed for this as the last act of his nemesis from the universe he'd obliterated.

Nice video and a few things about Stone Ocean’s ending that needed to be stated are (at least, in my opinion):
    1. The alternate universe the Steel Ball Run and Jojolion take place is not the same as the one at the end of Part 6, it’s just an entirely new one that also has Stands but the Pillar Men and Hamon are replaced with Rock Humans and the Spin. This is apparently a very giant misconception about those parts.
    2. Parts 1 - 5 (Phantom Blood - Golden Wind) still happen as they did in Part 6’s new universe, as illustrated by the godtier ending in the anime, just the events of Stone Ocean and Pucci never existed in the world, thus making the lives these reborn variants of the cast far better than before.
    3. That also means that Joseph (as confirmed to still be alive in Stone Ocean by Araki), Josuke, and Giorno (also talked about by Araki) are somewhere around in the new world. Josuke never appearing again in the series despite being Araki’s favorite character is due to Araki wanting to end the story of Morioh perfect and intact while Giorno was stated to possibly be in Florida due to Pucci’s gravity but left vague.

For me it's a bittersweet ending. Not my favorite way to end shows but one I do like. Even though our heroes won by passing on the torch of hope on to the future they are still dead. The new universe that was made is close to being them but they are not the same people anymore no matter how they look or act compared to their past lives. Its an alternate universe where they are happier but the ones you saw go through the journey of hardship are no longer with us

    • @GBDupree
      @GBDupree ปีที่แล้ว +2

Actually its not a new universe in the end, its still the old one. By killing Pucci it prevents his stand from being active and thus unable to finish its new universe, because of that there is nothing keeping his new universe being made and since there isn't a stand around to make another new universe, then the old one continues on as it was before. Except for one major change, Pucci's soul is now no longer around as it was left behind in his universe while it becomes nonexistent, essentially having never been made because his stand is dead alongside him. The Universe is still the old one, but slightly altered in its timeline, so the Souls of the Part 6 gang are around still, and because they died by Pucci, they now have no reason to be dead and thus aren't, and more importantly their lives are different depending on Pucci's influence on it, and so they get to live the best lives they can because Pucci was the cause of all their problems. To further prove its still them they all meet up at the end, this is to show that its the same souls and therefore fated to meet because they already did and that's how Fate works, they are where they left off before the reset as well thus the universe has corrected the problem, and everything has come full circle. Furthermore, Jolyne is still the same person because she looks the same as she did before, in Pucci's universe her and Jotaro looked different because they were replaced with fake souls to fill in the gap, but because this is the OG universe their souls are around so there is no gap, and they can continue to be the same persons. Perhaps in a similar way Pucci is replaced by a fake soul that has no agency or Will and is a sleeping slave to fate, and therefore never becomes anything of importance. Hopefully that is enough to convince you!

Ironically, I think, if Pucci didn't involve Jolyne, he would've won. If Pucci found another way to lure out Jotaro he could've won because he wouldn't have to go against Jolyne and her allies but since he only viewed Jolyne as an expendable tool and not the threat he came to realize she was, he lost because by the time he realized that Jolyne was a threat to his plans it was already too late as she had already made up her mind of what she needed to do.
Edit: Another minor detail that sort of supports my analysis (I guess) is The alternate Jolyne Design and its motif around wasps. Wasps are typically seen as pests and aren't typically celebrated as anything good in America. Pucci realizes that Jolyne was a threat but he was too arrogant to view her as anything more than a pest.

Actually, Rohan was mentioned during the finale when they were showing that random manga artist who couldn't keep up with the deadlines, he receives a call in which he's told that there's one person who can keep up with the deadlines - Kishibe Rohan. I think that was a nice little detail.

The ending to Stone Ocean genuinely made me cry so, so, so hard. Such a beautiful ending, man. Seeing Jolyne and all of her loved ones free of the Joestar curse and free to finally live a happy life devoid of their dark fate is the perfect conclusion.
Also, being the hopeless romantic I am IRL I developed a huge liking toward Anasui, so hearing that he became Jolyne/Irene's boyfriend after the events of Made in Heaven just, honestly, made me cry even more. I was so happy for all of them lmao

IDKY but I was so joyful and happy. It was a bittersweet happiness, but I was still filled with joy. It even almost felt like a happy ever after.

AMAZING VIDEO METAS. The Quality of your work has DEFINITELY improved!
Araki saying that the Main Theme of JoJo is "Humanity" or "An Ode to Humanity" still rings true and makes you really think deeper than just the bizarre aspects of the series. Ever since Part 1: Phantom Blood, The Joestars (in their entirety) and everyone that allies with them have been fated/cursed to fight the overwhelming evil of the world. Dio Brando, Kars & the Pillar Men, DIO, Yoshikage Kira, Diavolo, and even Enrico Pucci represent people who LACK "Humanity/The Human Spirit" in a spiritual sense, so much so, that characters like Iggy (A Dog) and F.F. (A Colony of Plankton) carry much more humanity than those that are human in flesh.
Many characters that we have grown to care for and love were just ripped from us at untimely times (The Zeppelis, Kakyoin, Avdol, Iggy, Shigechi, Aya, Bruno, Narancia, Abbachio, F.F., Weather, and etc.) because they were just allies to the Joestars, not even actual family. Despite all of JoJo's wackiness and bizarre nature, the story details a tragedy of a bloodline that are basically "drafted child soldiers" to fight a battle they never asked for and have their entire lives ruined for it.
However, Part 6: Stone Ocean's ending finally said "Yeah, that's enough" and gave us a bittersweet ending where all of the main cast have better lives, free from Pucci, and by proxy, DIO's influence, and the curse to fight DIO's legacy finally ends after his death. Parts 1-5 happen the same way they do but now, the Joestars finally get to live normally like the rest of humanity. WE WON! THE HUMAN SPIRIT WON OVER THE OVERWHELMING EVIL OF THE UNIVERSE!
It is TRULY a Wonderful World, but good and bad because when you really think about it, Life is just one big, bizarre adventure!

i think that a better definition of how pucci represents diavolo would be saying that in the earlier parts of part 6, the main gang was entirely unaware of who whitesnake's user was, and it was still a large mystery up until the torrential downpour warning arc. a large part of diavolo's character in part 5 was keeping his identity hidden, and erasing any traces of his past that could lead giorno and the rest of passione to him. this reasoning could also be used as a representation of kira, as the best descriptor for kira would be "someone trying to lead a quiet life." pucci didn't want to have to start any sort of conflict with jolyne, and was hoping to have his plan executed without any mishaps, but fate was on his side with every turn in the road, including the birth of the green baby, his fusion with it, and the birth of c-moon and made in heaven.

I also think the the ending is perfect, though my interpretation is pretty different and probably an odd one.
It's fascinating that Araki chose America as Part 6's setting, even with Jotaro having a family here, of all places. Well, as weird as his mother moved to Japan, at least. But having America as the setting seems to drive the point: Freedom. America is the poster child for liberty and is known to hold it very dearly, even at their own expense, for example when the anime / manga shows a random biker not wearing a helmet while the narrator explains that in Florida it's not illegal for bikers to not wear helmets, then end the episode with a traffic accident sound. Stepping backwards to preserve freedom looks stupid in a short glance, but admirable. And part of this freedom is to not be forced to know fate, which is a tangible thing in the JoJo universe. Knowing what must happen sounds reassuring, but where is the fun of it? Plus, in several instances in JoJo fate can be fought back or at least turned into your favor.
Pucci's Made In Heaven effect, everyone knowing their inevitable fate without their consent, strips out that freedom of not knowing, which isn't pretty for one's desire to fight it back, or perhaps deeper implications considering JoJo's fate system factors in knowing the upcoming fate itself. Sounds like American's nightmare: communism, where everything is controlled, and no one is allowed to do their own thing. The way communism is enforced is also known to be callous and heartless, which is reflected in Pucci's tactics: He punishes people for not doing what he likes, manipulating the Joestars' kindness, pretty much killing innocents on his way, really. Because it's for the greater good. Jolyne is the opposite: She teams up, befriends foes, which admittedly sounds like a stupid shonen trope, but it benefits both of them in the end. Reflected in the ending, the care and sacrifice shown to each other which led to the team's demise aside of Emporio, led Emporio to victory.
In a way, Stone Ocean seems like Araki's way to show his admiration for America's stubbornness to keep their liberty at all cost.

I'd say one thing Pucci and Diavalo have in common. Their obsession with fate. Diavalo has the ability to "Skip time" and what this means is that for some time, he can predict the future and dodge his own fate if hes in a fated prediction. Allowing him to somewhat defy the narrative that fate has laid out for him. Diavalo's ability likely developed in a way that can quell his anxietys about his own fate, that being king crimson. Pucci's many abilitys also reflect this, with white snake being able to keep the memorys of others much like how he is haunted by the memorys of her sisters death, Later after Pucci is pretty much mentored by DIO, he starts to understand and see what DIO was trying to do and is ready to embody the plan because of his obsession with fate, which then lead to him developing his stand into C-Moon, and then finally Made in Heaven. Which are both abilitys that have to do with time and gravity, which are comparable to fate, because gravity and time determine the "Where" and "When" of an event.
The Only difference between these two characters is their approach, Diavalo wants to dodge fate, while Pucci wants not just him but everyone else to embrace it.

Then BAM. There it is and personally, though def mind fucked, I loved it! And honestly, given JoJos fanbase, I’m surprised so many ppl disliked it but after seeing it, I feel pretty strongly that this is bc they feel like “the villain won” in some way. To be fair, he kinda did, but he also REALLY lost (the way I see it) bc he actually removed Dio and have - in a sense, allowed the new Joestars to be saved. It’s just sad bc they’re kinda not really them but they kinda are. Alternate/Reset universes, right?😂

I feel that Pucci, through Made in Heaven, was trying to create the idea of heaven on earth in the sense that you know your fate, so therefore there are is no fear, emphasis on fear. However, by defeating Pucci, they inadvertently created a 3rd parallel world where Emporio was reunited with his loved ones after their death, and they seem to be Happy,, which kind of goes in line with conventional ideas of Heaven, afterlife where you reunited with your loved ones in perpetual happiness ... so Pucci didn't make it to heaven, Emporio did, through his indomitable spirit, love and hope. Pretty sweet ending!

  • @crself10

i think that pucci's connection to diavolo could be that he wanted to rule over the new universe and shape his own fate, just like diavolo in how he pursues anyone who challenges his "eternal reign". and just like how diavolo tried to kill giorno instead of fleeing, pucci tried to alter his fate by killing emporio instead of letting fate run its course. i do remember that pucci said to emporio he would happily give his life after the universe resets again, but I think he was just lying because if he really prioritized getting to heaven instead of quashing his enemies, he would have let emporio live

I watched all the parts of jojo, part 1 through part 5 back in 2020, fell in love with Jojos at that time. Ig stone ocean being released on Netflix sorta threw me off in 2021/22 at first, made me not wanna watch it. Took me up until recently to give it the go, I dont regret it. I could not disagree any harder with the title. Having just finally caught up with the last episode, I feel robbed.
Everyone of the gang except for Emporio died. Period. Those other people? They're not the characters you love, they're strangers. They're not the same characters that went through the same hardships. -Jolene's- Irene's personality is now suddenly nice because what, she didn't have her daddy leave her? But she still kept all of her growth and willpower? And then she somehow still ended up with Anas? So is or isn't it fate? It's fully and entirely a narrative contradiction, and that's bad writing.
The moment you start pulling in time travel, alternate universes, and everything related to that you have cart blanche. You can entirely make up the rules, and this is how it ended up? It's a copout. It's one of the laziest ways I've ever seen a reboot done, it feels incredibly unsatisfying and honestly it's just flat out lame.
What would've been so much more meaningful is if Pucci would've been on death's door, holding on only every so slightly to be brought back to when he first saw Jolyne, or really anywhere along her timeline, preferably before anyone died, and that Jolyne would've noticed how beat up Emporio is, and would've finished off Pucci.
HECK, along any of the JoJo's, maybe all of them! At least that would've been an honorable ending to what was an amazing show.
You know what FF is now? Nothing. Probably already eaten and digested 17 times over. Plankton doesn't live long. RIP FF.
What a terrible ending. I'd rather watch both Dexter's last seasons again than think of this any longer.
_P.S. I may or may not still be emotional because of the ending and might be overreacting, so I wrote all of this to get my thoughts in order, but I'm afraid that after writing all of this my opinion hasn't changed._

Yeah...i still don't like this ending, and don't get of wrong, I'm usually positive about there post of things, i always root for even the worst media imaginable to have a shred of goodness, but...man I'm sorry but when i was watching stone ocean all i could think was, "oh man i can't wait until Jolene kicks puccis ass" and we got close several times but when she faces him head on and just dies, it just rubbed me the wrong way, i just wanted a scene where she beat him directly but it never happened, and it doesn't matter the characters were rebirthed, they aren't the same ones and are completely different, also i don't think being a Joestar was a curse, it definitely felt like something you could get past with time, at least to me, also being a stand user doesn't automatically mean you fight other stand users, kayoin is a perfect example, sure he did die but it was ten years before he ran into another stand user, not every stand user outside the Joestars are evil, some probably want to avoid fighting or maybe want to help people, so i disagree that having a stand automatically 'sucks'
