- The story of the Lotus is the story of one man: Colin Chapman. Chapman’s influence on the world of motor racing was immense, and his legacy as a uniquely talented engineer, designer, entrepreneur, and enthusiast still lives on today.
Director: Jason Fenwick
Series: Racing Through Time
Chapman and Clark were the perfect combination. Two opposite, but incredibly talented characters who understood and worked with each other as well as it could ever be dreamed. Ken Tyrrell and Jackie Stewart were similar, but not to such a level. After that, there have been great partnerships, that have resulted in sublime success, such as Piquet with Brabham and Schumacher with Jean Today, but, really, Clark with Chapman was the top.

Excellent production Thank you........ I always wanted a Lotus 7 . When I was in my late teens they were £399 for the kit...... and you had to supply your own engine etc......... I never did get my 'Seven'
I love it need more
Lotus is legendary
AMAZING GUYS ❤
I always remember my dad, who was a welding inspector at the Ministry of Defense, going for a job at Lotus in the late sixties. I recall him saying 'l don't think l've got it as l wasn't very impressed with their welding ' l wonder if this was when those ridiculous wings came in, because Lotus did have some chassis failures at the time. Chapman was certainly a one off!
One suspects their lives were never boring
Sad to see the Lotus tradition of lightweight and innovation has been replaced with private equity and suvs.
They seem to veer towards porky 'sophistication' and then back to sublime lightweight with metronome regularity...
I still have a lovely 200+bhp Elise S1 111S, a good example of the lightweight end of the swing.
Your documentary would be more compelling if you did not use video of old cars from modern historic races. The look of the circuits, curbs, pit buildings, helmets and racing suits, everything looks wrong.
