The Motorist is a 1906 film produced by • Robert William Paul
and directed by • Walter R. Booth , another famous pioneer of English cinema.
(00:06) A traffic policeman tries to stop a speeding car, he is run over, but continues to chase it (00:27). The car, however, climbs along a wall and then begins to fly, leaving the policeman on the ground: crossing the clouds (00:47), the two passengers reach the moon (01:02), then dragged by a comet they end up on Saturn (01:10) and finally fall into a court where a trial is underway (01:32). Once outside the building, the car breaks down and stops (02:05): the two men are about to be stopped by some pursuers, but the car turns into a chariot pulled by a horse and the two manage to escape once again; after a few meters the cart changes back into a car (02:20).
