      she was one of the few girls who could get married in a real silk dress at that time.
      speaking of which, its kind of impressive the ammount of silk that went into making all those parachutes

    • @duglife2230
      @duglife2230 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This was pretty common, especially among paratroopers. Paratroopers got a reserve parachute that was usually white silk as opposed to the camo pattern that was on their main, so many would take them home to their sweethearts.

    Her story tugged at my heart. I was there with her in 1944 when she met her soon to be husband washing clothes. Talk about the good that came out of this war and their happy life together for 76 years that followed. Wow! What hell she and her family endured during their German occupation and to get George back at the end. Blessed, truly blessed.

      A stellar episode once again; she is so beautiful and excellent storyteller, too. Reminds me of my lovely grandma and her stories about her life during WWII. Grandma passed away ten years ago (born in 1925). She experienced the WWII and German occupation as well as a young girl. It was common that civilians had relationships and babies born with German soldiers at that time in Finland, Europe. The Germans where not generally accepted everywhere, depending on the region. Thank you so much for your hard work and the series!

By the end, you feel the deep emotion behind the young woman she had become, and the heartbreak of losing her best friend. All in a matter of 14 minutes. Thank god for the sacrifices made by the allied forces, so that the Nazis were defeated. Those men were the greatest generation for what they did, and SCREW anyone who bashes America, or War vets

    Her husband, Mr. Noah used to plow a field beside my house when I was a child and he would pick me up on that tractor and let me ride with him. As a kid I never had a clue he was a Soldier in the Battle of the bulge. He was an amazing man!

    Funny how some folk can move to another country whilst young and their accent hardly changes where as others it does. I have an elderly Irish lady living below me who moved over to England when she was 15 and she's 80 now and still has a thick Irish accent. My uncle moved to Wales in his twenties and he'd only been there ten years or so and when he comes back over to England he gets called taffy and yet my other uncle who moved there and has been there longer still has a Mancunian accent. Suppose it depends in the person. This lady in the story been in the states about 70 years and still sounds French.

    I feel fortunate to have heard Anna tell us her story. I noticed that even with her French accent, she picked up the southern twang in her accent.
