The Untouchables returned to network television on October 12th, 1961 for its Third Season premiere "The Troubleshooter." This creatively impressive year would otherwise be a fateful time for television's finest film noir after two years of near-constant controversy - and acclaim. This rare ABC promo is unique in that it features several sequences filmed exclusively for promotional use and also includes several scenes from episodes "Fall Guy" and "The Silent Partner." No doubt produced by ABC on a budget, the original print lacked the characteristic gunfire sound effects from the Glen Glenn Sound Company archive. They have been added as part of the digitization and 4K scan of this original 16mm print in the spirit of honoring the presentation of the original series. There is refined darkness to the Third Season, brought on by the realization that the more dastardly, conniving, and villainous the antagonists, the more interesting Eliot Ness (and the show) becomes. The Third Season will not only usher in more sinister villains, but foes that make a career out of targeting the character, career, and life of our fictional Eliot Ness, but an even greater foe was on the horizon. His name? Mitch Miller. His racket? A sing-a-long variety hour called Sing Along with Mitch. 📺 Read more on The Untouchables here: theuntouchables.co/

This is not a TV documentary to teach history. This is an entertainment program based on historical events. It's a departure into historical fiction for literary, artistic license.
@@TheUntouchablesTVShow the stories start with facts and many of the episodes. Especially the first few seasons. But then they do depart into literary license, which is quite normal for an entertainment show. But the flavor of authenticity that using real people who lived at that time as a point of departure does give the show a sense of reality.
Robert Stack in an interview on the Series said after the factual episodes aired the Producers actually received anonymous calls and messages from self-described participants “correcting the record”; after a time the episodes were based on less factual events.

Many episodes are often surprisingly fact based! Each of our recaps goes into great detail where stories were inspired by actual events.
