    The reason it's fluctuating (flashing) is due to voltage sag when the current being drawn is too high...the 3A rating is not for continuous use...but for some cases initial startup where power draw is the highest. To verify put voltage reader on the barrel jack input and watch the voltage sag as current draw increases. Also, many of these boost converters get horrible ripple voltage the higher (closer to max) current output occurs so a filter capacitor can help quite a bit.
    Pretty cool! Keep em coming!!!!

    I just discovered your channel through the Ploopy headphones and THIS IS AMAZING! I've been thinking of doing this exact project and here you've already done it step by step. I'm going to need a 2 amp board but just knowing what type of board to look for really helps a lot.

    Hey man I got a question what time trying to do is basically take the minisforum em680 and turn it into a linux tablet and I'm trying to find a battery solution that mimics a tablet experience thatll shoe the battery percentage and also shows when its charging would something like this work since the em680 is usb c powered?

    Is posible to make a laptop with pc desktop part and with a pico psu? i know motherboard has to make a cute and make a slim cooling heatsink but its possible right?

    Interesting video. I noticed from the amazon page that those converters only claim 12v 0.5a (0.6a peak). So that will be why they struggle.
    Given others concerns, it would be useful to find ones with higher quality outputs,

    Is there a way to do this and have the device recognise the battery? Like have the battery percentage show up in Windows for example like it does for laptops?

      You need SPI

      Not directly, because the device will always see 12V no matter the charge level. You'd have to measure it separately and then connect that sensor to the computer via USB.

    Dude. U need to watch an electronics course. Get a scope and check the ripple on output voltage when under load. Add a capacitor rated min 16v DC on the output to stabilise it. Also the battery pack must be able to provide a peak amp > the load circuitry. Also add a disclaimer to your video when advising others about modifying electronic circuits cuz Li Ion batteries can be dangerous if not handled with care. Just my advice. Nice video otherwise .

    Funny thing - my plan to use the tp4056 to assemble li-po stepup to power 50mm fan to cool down steam deck(heatsink on Jsaux backplate) and I have exactly same module on the way to me presently, as so far using a separate tp4056 and step-up modules instead of just one you showed in ur video....))

    Hi from Russia. I have recently wondered the same question too, I want to make a tablet out of a mini pc, since the current tablets the market offers are very bad or industrial ones that have too high price. As I understand, you'd better build a battery of several batteries, 3 to be exact, with a bms board, the current of which will be from 9 to 12 volts (when charged), you will also need a dc-dc to get stable 12 volts, in your circuit there is a big capacitance loss when converting 3.7 to 12, the closer the current to the converter the higher its efficiency which can reach up to 94%. As I understand, you can connect the charger directly to the BMS pin, but I don't know if that's the right way to do it.... Looked at the schematic from the Chinese, it seems to be ok.
    Also found a dc-dc step-up that can output about 60 watts, 4.5+ amps of current.
    Good luck with your experiments :)

      I also thought of using a povobank board, a kind of board that has the ability to give enough power to power a mini pc and use the battery as a powerbank because there are usb outputs, and the ability to indicate the level of battery charge.
      only I have not found such a board that would support charging while using the very port through which the mini PC is powered.

    It's more convenient putting batteries in series with a bms and then use a step down converter, you will get more current

    Will it work on mobile external gpu which is rx7600 xt onexgpu? which is also has 120w tgp i just want it for that one piece of device so i can play it for around one hour or 2 at high when i am outside the house, its very small gpu at the size of battery run rx7600 xt mobile card, my idea is when i am outside the house in coffe or something similar playing lenovo legion go is to be able to use that card with it without the need to plug it into a wall, probably no more than 2 or 3 hours, do you think this battery or a battery with 145w usb port and 20k mAh will make the idea work?

    Can you show how to turn this into a UPS ?

    • @Un_Pour_Tous
      @Un_Pour_Tous ปีที่แล้ว

      Doubt it most step-up and charge circuits drop power when you disconnect from mains even if it is for a second.

    • @LuisYomba
      @LuisYomba ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's why the question. Maybe an online UPS. Both, the power supply and the battery be on but if the power supply is gone the battery would be the only supply. There should be a way to make a circuit to have that done.
      That would be really useful. Much more power efficient than a main line UPS.

    no way sot23 sized dc-dc is going to output enough current for this. It is flashing because it is bloody shutting itself off due to reaching ~125 - 150C internally.
    Remember 1A at 12v output is going to be (12 / 3.0V lowest lipo level = up 4 times more) on the input and you take the bigger value for evaluating if any given dc-dc converter is going to cut it.

    Very bad idea to power pc's etc. using these low quality modules. Not only dangerous for the devices, but the power output has huge noise levels. This causes instabiliy for the use of the devices. Another thing to consider is the Chinese way of measuring output capacity, their tolerances are huge!

    Hello Novaspirit,
    Can you make a video using zima blade with external gpu gtx 1030 using jellyfin and plex showing hardware transcoding
    Please do, if possible there is no video on this topic.
    and i need the info for it

    Excellent video 👍 Feel better soon, Sir.
    Great ideas for upcoming holidays family free time.
    (P.S. I wish this video was released in the evening or afternoon because these fun maker thing videos get less immediate traction on a workday morning.)
    Kindest regards, neighbours and friends.
