Jin Hi Kim's Exceeding (2015)

EXCEEDING was composed and premiered by Jin Hi Kim at Smithsonian Institute’s Freer Gallery of Art (Washington DC) in celebration of Music From Japan’s 40th Anniversary. The performance utilizes the most recent developments of the electric komungo augmented instrument, since she initiated an evolution of the 4th century komungo into the world's first electric komungo in 1989. Kim processed the komungo sounds in a range of live interactive performing techniques via MIDI foot pedal controller of a custom MAX/MSP program.
