Listen to the warm humanity in his voice in the last section. Compassion, dignity, love all in the voice. Amazing. Thank you.

No one ever sang this like Warren and it is unlikely that anyone ever will. He was in a class by himself. There are extraordinary baritones-Merrill, Bastianini, Tibbett, Milnes-and then there is Warren. Oh to have heard him live at the Old Met!

I agree. I was at the performance when he died on stage. Such a loss, I cried for a week and have never gotten over the greatness of his voice.

I think Granforte was slightly better, but i enjoy both of them.

I would say Granforte, Ruffo and Stracciari are as good as Warren in this aria, with maybe Granforte and Ruffo being a bit superior

In the first rendition, we hear Warren's immense talent and potential. In the second, we hear that he has largely fulfilled both.

Warren was singing the chorus at Radio City when he took a dare and entered the MerOpera competition and the rest, as they say, is history. And he died right on stage singing Urna Fatal! Could be worse.

He not only had a round and velvety tone but an incredible range. I know I'll spend a lifetime or two studying and admiring him.

Milnes was great-the last real Verdi baritone-why does one artist have to be denigrated. By the way in many ways I preferred Macneil's Rigoletto
