Physical Layer Advancements Supporting ITU-R Future Technology Trends

ITU-R lists several future technology trends for 6G physical layer design. These are, for example, integrated communications and sensing, device-to-device communications, ubiquitous connectivity, new frequency bands from current sub-6GHz bands up to mmWave and THz frequencies, near-field focusing, ultra-massive MIMO, and energy efficiency. In addition, it is essential to consider the physical constraints of RF hardware to realize these systems in practice. The workshop will collect key experts working on the physical layer technologies from higher-level concepts down to RF hardware to discuss the challenges and enablers for 6G.
