i think the last line of the song, "I lean into a box of pine, identify the kid as mine" is the best line of the song. Morrissey truly portrays the song as being sang from the POV of a father who just wants to see his son, but at the end sees that he was too late and he is now dead
how come more people not know about this, the song and the city itself is gorgeous.. i live in Istanbul, and this is one of a song that i listen to when i wander around the narrow streets of Istanbul.. such mesmerising city.~
world peace was newest album when I seen him live at Manchester Arena, and when he played Istanbul he looked and extended his arm out in my direction - I was and am the lost son 🥲💔
once, in istanbul, i stole some private tapes from a party. when i watch them back at home, it's tears of joy: two turkish boys in a beautiful back alley full of blooming cherrytrees, kissing each other while watching a street cat give birth to it's young. don't know who filmed it, but i want to believe it's morrisey's son from istanbul... perfect soundtrack for sure...

For a while these ezan prayers were actually in Turkish, as Atatürk intended. The “Democratic Party” switched it back to Arabic as part of their populist pandering. Quite a pity. Hard to change back without another Atatürk, and that happens once in every alternate timeline in the universe 😊
I am from İstanbul. I love you Morrissey

After all these years I keep finding new Morrissey songs.
His voice alone can turn any song into a great gem
This is one of Morrissey’s best. I always say I feel so blessed to have lived in a time that he has made music.

I saw him in LA last month at the Hollywood Bowl. He was so great, I listen to his music all the time.
Morrissey sounds ever so good no matter the band or its members...

Why is this one of the few albums of his not on Spotify or Amazon music 😩
I wondered why
Unfortunately he had and probably still has some problems with Harvest Records that made this album.
my friend who likes the smiths did not like this album but i managed to find one good song (istanbul) among all the others
As a Turkish Morrisseh enjoyer and a Smiths fan, I've been listening to this song for years now. Funny how I never got to see Istanbul.
If Oscar wilde was around now, he'd be a morrisey fan
