I do not think his perspective for his argument was well represented, but I do agree with him. That area between Eau Gallie and Ellis Road is all considered Business Industrial. The un-used overgrown land had been a place where many many homeless people set up their tents and lived for many years. With the cities new influx of business growth and population boom these lands are being cleaned up for sale or use... which has moved many of these homeless out or moved to another spot close by. His view is that building a location for these people to go to on the daily is going to increase "unwanted" traffic that does not fit a business need in the area. And for that, it will then become a focal point for homeless and transient lifestyles to seek refuge. Again, I agree, Ive seen all types of "bad" on Sarno - this guy's crew cleans up litter daily from the entrance of his property, and Ive seen needles, fireworks and all the accumulation of trash that is built up from living homelessly. This area recently has new shopping areas along with a child care facility. This area is very heavily traffic from people going to and from work, trucks going to waste management, and people using it as a bypass to i95... I do not think this will be an ideal spot for Daily Bread facility. I understand the strategy of "this is where the homeless are" but the homeless need an unfamiliar place to go to.
And personally, I think it is recipe for disaster when it comes to the person seeking shelter. Being around all that chaos when you are seeking help, will not help.
