Some of the best guys on pavement got their start on dirt. I'm 54 and have been around dirt track racing sense I was 8. Here in central NY names like Ken Schrader & Stewart Friesen are OUR weekend dirt warriors . I will say that this is the first time I've seen someone get in a animal like that and do as good as you did. You have got the feel for a cars balance point, but that monster has a very unique rear end and drives very different than most other "fixed axle" cars. I am amazed at how quickly you picked up the feel if the "rear steering "
The amount of talented drivers to come out of Central NY from both dirt and asphalt modifieds is absurd. Really wish I’d have been alive at the time to watch Richie Evans
Man that thing looks like it is turning left at all times, even when driving straight. The engineering that goes into the development of circle racing cars is insane.
yeah thats exactly what the cars doing. You drive the car "straight" at an angle for peak grip. The chassis is built with this stagger in mind, since we dont get much front grip on dirt we need to set the car up so it WANTS to dive down to the left. Then you use the throttle the keep that angle, while also using the throttle to rotate the car for the corner. Best type of racing on the planet
My two favorite content creators collaborating. HTF guys are first class and down to earth guys. Hope to see more content with you all together. Plenty of dirt racing in Florida for them to get you in one weekend in a 604 or 602 late model race.
Isnt the feeling of ripping a car around a track as fast it will possibly go is amazing? Drag racing is fun and all, but pushing a car past its limits, finding what it wants to do and what it doesnt want to do and really gaining a relationship with the car is the best feeling in motorsport. Love it bro

Not gonna lie with that black red and white out there I swear I saw ol Dale smiling down on yall enjoying life!
Thanks to Hunt the Front. Obviously they were smart about the whole thing . Even if Cleet balled the whole car up..no actually ESPECIALLY if he wrecked the car (and walked away) they had nothing to lose. The exposure that channel got from this is the type of thing that can make or break a character.
True enthusiasts are folks who will go way out of their way to share their hobby or interest with others. Doesn't matter if it's cars, boats, guns, horses, skiing, model railroading, knitting - whatever it might be. The people who are genuinely excited about having you try their thing out are the people you want to know. So-called "fans" that belittle newcomers for a lack of knowledge or try to hold their skills over everyone else are only interested in a personal power trip. If you run into those folks, just move on and don't let them taint your opinion of the hobby or pastime in question. There's little in this world that's as pure as a true enthusiast unselfishly sharing their passion with anyone and everyone they can, even if it means letting a total stranger lose with your race car or high-end rifle.
Really good to see two channels like Cleetus and Hunt the Front getting together like this. I have been following the Hunt the Front boys for several years now. They work their asses off just like Cleetus to get to where they are. Good work boys!
Garrett is a driver. I swear he can adapt to different types of cars faster than anyone I've seen. Blows me away every time, and I can tell the HTF guys were real impressed too.
I love Horsepower but my main reason for following you is I think you're 100% GOOD DUDE and love I seeing others give you opportunities to do what you love. Keep the good times coming brother
Been watching you a while. This is the MOST bad-ass thing you have ever done on your channel. The perspective really showed the speed of these machines. Awesome brotha...
Garrett has a true talent. You don't just hop in a late model for the first time and do this. Especially not at Bristol. The man has NASCAR talent or greater, even.
Poor Cleeter looks like he's cramming himself into a Power Wheels or something. Not easy being a giraffe I guess. Them guys were like oh buy what have we done as he's heading to the track. Way to go Cleeter. You need one of them Super Late Models.
Glad you were able to feel what a real purpose built dirt track car is like versus a modified street car. You're a natural with a good car under your seat, pun intended. I didn't win my first race until after an ex racer and the track owner told me "All you need to do is to race the track not the drivers". A few races later I got my first win. I went on to win 72 more in the same car before I got taken to the wall and totaled it. I hope you get to experience a tacky track in a real race car (like that late model) some day. Awesome, just awesome to go that fast on dirt, wide open thru the turns, left front off the track. The G force is an adrenaline rush like nothing else and all you want is more of it.
That was great! The amount of talent you have to get in the high powered car and go with only a tiny amount of experience with a completely different class of car. Thanks for all the live action!
Dirt racing is infinitely more exciting than any asphalt circle track racing. This is a really wide open track so you really don't get to see what those late models can do. Put them on a short track and they'll be completely sideways entering a corner. It's wild.
I don’t think it’s fair to compare the two. Race fans know there’s a huge difference in both, I’ve seen amazing racing on paved ovals you wouldn’t see on dirt and of course the same can be said for dirt racing. Guys like Smoke, Larson and Bell wouldn’t race NASCAR if there wasn’t a little fun and competition to be found.
Apart from Cleeter getting in a Super Late model and ripping it like a pro, that rev-off battle in the line up was by far the manliest thing i've seen this year!
That was awesome. Good to see some action with the Dirt Racing community. Our Cleet really is quite a driver. I worked with a guy for a few months who races Late Models here in West Aus. He told me how he out of the blue asked a Late Model outfit/driver in the US if he could come over a pit crew for them for the experience. The Driver insisted he bring his driving suit with him to take his car for a spin. Damn good people it seems.
Cleet! You were awesome in the late model!! You should have got the driver to do some laps and watched him. 800 HP is what a NASCAR has!! I did dirt in what was the B class. I only had about 350 HP. It makes your car feel like it’s got the brakes on. Have you tried running closer to the wall like Petty? It’s further around but you don’t have to fight for traction as much. Also most cars go down when they spin out. Just don’t get in the marbles!! Your helmet cam brings back memories to me!! Keep up the great videos and be safe!!
You seemed like you were getting a feel for it, during that last race. You looked much more comfortable and confident behind the wheel. With some actual seat time, you may be very competitive. Possibly even becoming the dominant driver/car. You are some driver, I'm always impressed after watching you drive. Nicely done.

Bristol is my home track and I cannot stress enough how hard to do what Garrett just did drivers just don't jump into these cars and do that it's unheard of that guy has just got a natural born driving ability it's just all there is to it I've seen it before all the good drivers have it and he's got it! He just blows my mind at how quick he gets use to what ever he jumps into and gets fast so quickly!
Bristol on dirt is awesome I live here in JC but we locals know bulls gap is where it's at. Atomic is awesome too. Never really liked Kingsport personally
Bristol dirt isn't like your local dirt tracks it's crazy fast, and cleeter did what cleeter does shook it down for a couple laps and then let her eat. 17 sec lap at Bristol never even sitting g in the car before hand. Gotta say he impresses me every time he gets in a car.
Would love to see more collaborations with the HTF group
@@gageburns1261 I never got to see Richie . I did grow up hanging out in Lou Lazzaro's pit. Watching guys like Jack Johnson & Toby Tobias.
Man that thing looks like it is turning left at all times, even when driving straight. The engineering that goes into the development of circle racing cars is insane.
You should see them in person. Everything is offset to the drivers side of the car. There is so much hanging out to the right
yeah thats exactly what the cars doing.
So glad Hunt the Front has collaborated with you. I absolutely love that group of guys, you couldn’t be in better hands Garrett!!
I just love how sophisticated and intricate dirt racing cars are everything has to be absolutely perfect in the setup
The suspension has to be perfect for the car to roll around those turns. It looks like they are folded up under the car when up to speed.
Isnt the feeling of ripping a car around a track as fast it will possibly go is amazing? Drag racing is fun and all, but pushing a car past its limits, finding what it wants to do and what it doesnt want to do and really gaining a relationship with the car is the best feeling in motorsport. Love it bro
Super awesome seeing u in a super late model I’ve driven one for a couple years now and it’s the most fun ever and really awesome seeing u with the HTF crew
Ole Cleet is gonna get hooked on dirt. It's a slippery slope.
You need a dirt late model dude you rock. That dirt track stuff is no joke. I was a crew chief for twenty years never saw anyone jump in one like you and rip it like you did. You got to do more of it. Dirt weekend at the freedom factory hell yeah.
How do they do that? Is Bristol normally asphalt?
@@ichoozjc yes its paved normally
@@Bamabrute85 4ft deep dirt?? Wow, that's amazing that they can pull that off. Can't imagine the expense, but I bet Cleetus is calculating it already for the FF.
@@ichoozjc you take an assault/concrete track and add alot of dirt and expensive equipment. I think the ppv money for it would be crazy tho! We need this
@@ichoozjc id bet money he already knows the local price for for dirt/clay. Probably pricing loaders and compactors now. Lol
I watch " HUNT THE FRONT " them boys said YOU CAN DRIVE ! You did do a good job
13:01 cleet in the middle of a conversation:
"is that a helicopter??"
😂 Dudes loves him some choppers
This is one of my favorite episodes that I've seen so far! It made me so happy to hear Maddi cheering for Cleetus! I wish many years of happiness and health to both of them, and of course, little Rip too!
Yes sir waited all these years for Cleetus to experience what I love every weekend
Edit: shot out to the awesome guys at Hunt the Front, if you like this they’re awesome guys with a great channel.
Yeah seriously they seemed like just genuinely awesome guys
@@Shiftheads I’ve been watching them from the beginning, us latemodel guys don’t have many channels to watch lol
@@dirtracer21d I think a lot of people just dismiss circle racing because they don't realize how much skill and tuning etc go into it. The G forces on banked turns is just mind boggling when you experience it. Cleetus is really opening people up to the sport
@@Shiftheads and I’m great full for it honestly, with streaming this last few years dirt racing has doubled what it used to be. And now with these influencers getting in to it, plus Kyle Larson getting the asphalt boys in to it, it’s great for the sport. Really cast light on some seriously talented drivers
tony where you been
HTF!!! Let's Go!! Been waiting on this collaboration for a while. Well done Cleet!
Props to madi for the quality filming during the race!
old video.. but back in 1994 when i stooped drag racing. i ended up, working a side job as the tire man at a local track in Okeechobee FL. working under the montisi family ( it's spelled wrong ) they bought tony stewards..last model.. watching this.... just reminded me why i went back to building race cars.. now at the age of 52... your awesome..
Cleetus, the knack you have for driving makes me feel that you should started sooner, in life, so you could be a great driver...longer! You are a natural, natural!
Hunt the front crew is some really awesome guys I've been subscribed to there channel since they've started the channel just like I have this channel so glad yall got together and I have a older late model racecar you can have if ya want one to play around at the freedom factory
That car grips and I can’t imagine how it feels to be so hooked up you can’t hold your head straight! Feel lucky to have the opportunity’s you have it’s amazing to watch and even better you take us along for the experience
Awesome to see two of my favorite channels collaborate! Cleetus those hunt the front guys are some of the most genuine and kind people you'll ever come across and I think if anyone deserved a little help with them brakes it was them! I'm sure there's a business opportunity lingering somewhere in there for sponsorship with motion and makes some dirt track top notch parts! Not gonna lie with that black red and white out there I swear I saw ol Dale smiling down on yall enjoying life!
41 years & this is the first time I've seen this sport, Awesome guys,You got another subb.Makes me wish i could drive again.Keep up it up guys ✌
That’s quite the unit. Seen these races but never realized they’re putting down 900 hp on dirt
You should see the 410 sprints. They put down just as much power with just about half the weight of a super late model.
410 sprint cars are the real deal. My step dad ran them for about 30 years
some of these what we call super saloons here in nz put out even more power,up to 1000hp .
I enjoy catching Jesse's streams on twitch every once in awhile. Real chill dude...
Really good to see two channels like Cleetus and Hunt the Front getting together like this. I have been following the Hunt the Front boys for several years now. They work their asses off just like Cleetus to get to where they are. Good work boys!
Super Late Models are my favorite, I would gladly enjoy more dirt content on here. Father in law used to have a dirt car, miss the action.
Loved seeing hunt the front and cleetus come together been watching both for years
Garrett is a driver. I swear he can adapt to different types of cars faster than anyone I've seen. Blows me away every time, and I can tell the HTF guys were real impressed too.
The crossover I never thought I needed until now!! LOVE HTF
I love Horsepower but my main reason for following you is I think you're 100% GOOD DUDE and love I seeing others give you opportunities to do what you love. Keep the good times coming brother
Cleetus please get into dirt track racing. This community needs your support. Thank you guys for doing this together
Been watching you a while. This is the MOST bad-ass thing you have ever done on your channel. The perspective really showed the speed of these machines. Awesome brotha...
The hunt the front boys are badass. Glad you got to meet them. We need more of this! Put that toter to good use lol
Man Cleetus was in his element here, his personality fits in perfectly with the dirt boys
Garrett has a true talent. You don't just hop in a late model for the first time and do this. Especially not at Bristol. The man has NASCAR talent or greater, even.
I liked seeing you driving with your left hand and hold the wheel with your right!!! You are a natural driver. Great job hell Yeah
They are good people with a good channel been watching them for a while. Hope to see them invited to run at some of the FF events
Hell yea!! And they need to drive Ruby
@@cat2972 good idea mane
Awesome , Thanks CM & Friends
Dirt racing has been more fun to watch than any ripsaw video.
Or jet boats. They are fun but this is so much cooler.
@@ericMT but do they scream freedom as loud as that car?
The body work on that thing is awesome. Pretty cool seeing such a purpose built car with its unique features like that.
Check out the Whelen modified series, its asphalt not dirt but they are 100% purpose built and they look and sound mean
Its basically one giant spoiler to create a ton of downforce.
@@LoganGibson Yeah it super cool to see how the whole car is designed around the maximum downforce from aero related to going in a circle.
You’re living a good life brother! Trying every flavor of racing is just pure awesome!!
Apart from Cleeter getting in a Super Late model and ripping it like a pro, that rev-off battle in the line up was by far the manliest thing i've seen this year!
I’m so pumped to see you and Hunt the Front together I hope you take them up on their offer and race with them at a smaller track
I dig all the dirt track content
I see what you did there... :)
Hunt the front is great group of guys. Good dirt racers.
Really enjoyed this vid! You got dirt trackin' in your blood, son! The Hunt for the Front boys are way cool to let you drive their car. Seriously cheering for you during the race. You did awesome on your first dirt event. More of these please!
No way!!!!! I’ve watched hunt the front for over a year! What are the odds they are such a small channel!!! So awesome how all these channels run into each other eventually
I watch TH-cam z channels all day long and most of them I get enjoyment outta, including this channel. But THIS EPISODE, I FELT Nervous as heck for Cleeter! I realized I’ve watched him for a few years and have time invested into him and I just want him to win and do good at every single thing he does! Well Done!!!Z
Rear steer, the sound of that motor digging out of the corner. You were doing it right like Bill Frye on the high side baby! 🤘
Bill Frye 66 if I’m not mistaken. He used to run at West Plains back in the day along with Billy Moyers
Love this kind of content, great to see you diversifying on the race world!!
My mom lives a few miles away from a dirt track, you can always here when the late models are racing. The rumble those cars produce is insane.
There's absolutely nothing better than hearing those powerful engines roaring to life and feeling the ground rumbling under your feet and smelling race fuel fumes in the air except for GOD AND FAMILY 🙏 THIS WAS SO ENTERTAINING AND EXCITING 😁👍🤗❤️
I love that rumble. Even on a smartphone it sounds GR8. Reminds me of the dirt truck racing rumble
it's a amazing sound when they're wide open! one of my favorite cars to watch at the track.
@@christophermix6845 ABSOLUTELY!!! THERE'S NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT!!! IT'S MY FAVORITE TOO!! I grew up going to our local dirt track way back and even though the cars and classes have changed since then, I believe I have red dirt clay running through my blood vessels instead of blood!! LOL 😂 I am as giddy as a kid who's turned loose in a candy store and told I could get ALL I want, whether it's at the dirt track or seeing a car hauler riding down the road 😂😂 I can't contain my excitement 😂😂😂 My parents and I went every week unless it was rained out and we always made it to Darlington for both races every year. Back then it was REAL RACING for NASCAR!! Now, especially since Earnhardt passed away and everyone who started NASCAR are unfortunately dead or retired and they changed so much, I don't follow NASCAR like I used to. I was fortunate because everyone who was somebody who raced NASCAR came to our local dirt track and raced. And we ALWAYS parked in the PITS ,so I go to mix and mingle and meet practically every body and even at Darlington we parked in the the infield. Back then you could walk in and around every driver and car there. Now you have to get pit passes to get access to anyone. I was truly BLESSED 🙏 LOL.. I was only going to type a short message and as you can see, the subject of dirt racing is my favorite thing and I firmly believe you can NEVER HAVE TO MUCH LOVE, NOR TOO MANY HUGS NOR TOO MANY PRAYERS OR TOO MUCH RACING 🏁🏆🏁 One last thing, there's something that sets dirt track racing above any other sport!! If something happens to a driver, crew member or a family member of either, it doesn't matter if it's the most disliked driver at whatever track, everybody will dig deep and help out when they pass helmets around and then do whatever else they can do to help the person/family in need. And that's PRICELESS 🤗❤️🙏 WHAT TRACK OR TRACKS DO YOU GO TO? LOL 😂 I COULD TALK RACING FOR HOURS.. GOD BLESS MY DADDY'S FRIENDS WHO WORKED ON CARS, TRUCKS AND RACE CARS AND THEY ALSO DROVE RACE CARS. THE KNOWLEDGE I GAINED FROM BEING UNDER THE HOODS OR UNDERNEATH THE CARS HAS SAVED ME A BUNDLE OF MONEY!! THERE'S A BUNCH OF CROOKED MECHANIC'S WHO TRY TO MAKE YOU BELIEVE SOMETHING IS BROKEN OR NEEDS REPLACING WHEN THE PART IN QUESTION IS PERFECTLY FINE!! I'VE CALLED A MANY A MECHANIC OUT FOR LYING AND SHOWING THEM THAT THE PART THEY SWORE NEEDED TO BE FIXED OR REPLACED WASN'T IN THE LEAST BIT DAMAGED. I've only been going to the races with my neighbor and his son last summer and I'll there this summer! It's in my blood now lol. He races pure stock at us 36 race way in Osborn Missouri. Yes it stinks how much pit passes cost,
And how everything has changed, my neighbor used to race when he was younger and has told me lots of stories, he said they would just drive their cars to track instead of trailering it haha.
Hunt the front race team have some of the best dirt cars out there hands down. You was in a top 5 car every where they go!!!
Absolute Driver! Cleetus you are right where you should be doing what you should be doing (that goes for the whole crew/team). Keep it up!
Heartbreaking to see that 37 get caught up in that spin. We race with him and his dad a few times a year around KS. Super clean drivers, good guys all around.
Would be sick if I got taken out like that with 2 to go :/
Cleet is such a sport. Comes in and learns a driving style in 17 laps and still acts the underdog. Impressive learning rate! Fun content and fun people.
I bet Mullet wiukd scare the pee out of me if I just jumped in it.
Just wanted to say I’m loving the oval racing content..I love that your shining light on a sport that needs it
LOVE that we’re finally getting some REAL racecar content!
Playing a game of Simon with the engine revs in the line to start the hobby stock race was one of the best things i've ever seen on this channel, and I go back to the days of the turbo whistles and air bag detonations at the junk yard
That hauler you saw belongs to Scott Bloomquist, legend of late model racing
That thing is sick!
Scott is my aunts cousin. I noticed that rig immediately.
Stunning looking tractor. Wow. Love the art deco style.
Cool looking, kinda, but those internationals are junk.
I recognized that hauler as soon as the camera hit it. Cleetus should see it all lit up at night.
Those late models are SICK!

Yes! Bout time these two great Florida channels hooked up! Know the HTF guys, can't meet a better group of people!
I raced dirt track for 5 years. You have talent to be a really green rookie!! Two thumbs up 👍👍
the tire geometry on those things are wild
All 4 tires are the same but yes every corner is setup different to get them to rip the turns. Rear lifts up planting the back like how drag cars and gets the rear wing in clean air. The entire body channels air to it
Yep, most lose so much time in the corner, like he said on this track with the banking... it is backing off to 3/4 for a bit before foot to the floor again.
