Can I put the component/part into a specific layer, so then when I send to production laser cuttes tubes I can export them all in one STEP assembly and then load it the cutting software? What I am thinking of is making a template for round and square tubes with already specific layer so we dont have to do set it manually? do you think it might work?

Only complete objects can be moved to layers. So no single hole in a body. In practice (for example toolmaking) therefore colors are used. Each color defines a certain processing. See here: www.vdwf.de/en/der-vdwf/projekte/vdwf-guideline-color-table.html
You could create feature groups in the template and create all the processing within the group. The group then gets the desired color.
Workaround: Move the external sketches to the desired layer.

@@learnNX That application is also really useful for us but the one I think I did not explain properly is as you said moving the whole object/body to a layer, I need to export it in 3D to process it in our softwares, we have internal laser cutting for tubes and sheets (sheets with bending). We work with projects of thousand of parts, and when it comes the time of exporting every part to each manufacturing process we are having issues. I was thinking of like every part with layer "X" (SHEET LASER CUTTING) export it as a STEP ASSEMBLY and load it in the software of TRUMPF that will need the 3D to also then do the Bending programm.

@@lb3d650 Then you need to work with the Sheet Metal application. (Application, Sheet Metal). Under Menu, Preferences, Sheet Metal, Flat Pattern Display, you can select a different layer and color for each processing.
