1. Everyone here is overly focused on what is meant by "old school" . What you want is an old school _work ethic_ . But the old school ideology of taking on a dictatorship role as a leader (not being in tune with player and team morale, refusing to adapt to better understand where your players are coming from so that you can pull out the best in your players, putting your own needs ahead of your own players needs) is not going to work with smarter, more wary players that aren't just going to sacrifice for _every single coach that blows a whistle_ than in the past. Coaching is not a 'one size fits all' profession. You either start better understanding how you can get the best out of your players, or you'll be out on your ass looking for another job at another franchise. 2. A team's overall attitude is a reflection of its leadership, not the other way around. I can concede that Trae has been out of pocket lately, but that doesn't change the fact that the _entire team_ hasn't performed well. That means their leader (Coach Nate) is not doing his best to understand the teams needs, so that the team may be successful. Losing the locker room means you are detached from your team as a coach. Lazily proclaiming everything is a single players fault or that today's players are "soft" are *fucking stupid takes* . Have an actual informed opinion instead of parroting dumb shit like this. 3. You can still be an "old school coach" while still being able to adapt to the modern day NBA culture. Coach Nate is not doing the latter. Don't ever expect your team to perform with high efficiency if you as a coach aren't willing to do the same on your end. Figure it out or your gone, because Trae isn't going any fucking where period. And they don't do "franchise tags" for coaches.

That man had a terrible playoff record
I listened to Nate talk on the radio when he was first coaching. I couldn't stand listening to him. It was like listening to a bot. Bland, unimaginative, a fount of clichés.
Bruh the current era ain't shit but 20 something teams trying to play like the damn warriors AND IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!! I miss the days when teams had their own separate play styles. IT'S ONLY ONE KLAY AND ONE STEPH AND THEY'RE IN THE BAY.
When your best play is 5’9 and soft as baby shit it don’t matter what kinda coach you are.
He even had him playing to win
He not 5'9. He around 5'11 and I hardly call him soft. If he was soft he never make the NBA.
@@oldmansportsog2514 he actually 6,1 why do people think he that short
@@danthekarman, Those probably are the same people that said Charles Barkley is only 6'4".
I thought we supposed to support Black Coaches. Lmao
Throw coach Casey in there too. Can’t wait till the Pistons send him packing.
Have you EVER seen a short from these guys dedicated to denigrating a white coach?
How this any different from what Stephen a has done to people over the years
Hawks are playing like traaaaaaaaash. Matt you smoked up all the smoke on this one
I Totally Disagree With Matt Barnes Statement..
I don't believe that..... Every year the team that wins... Wins with the basics...a big man.....a true point guard...a wing man than can score......a three point guy in the corner and defense.... All the fancy new stuff is for the regular season.... But I'm not a Nate fan either
Snowflake generation
@@mayankingrevisited8137 men who think their emotions don't exist are the biggest generation of sensitive snowflakes around. If your coaching style doesn't work, then you, the coach, are the problem. Cry about it, snowflake.
I read that whole thing.. and I'm glad I did. Impressive.
That why the NBA is watered down. You have kids running the NBA without adult supervision.
Age has nothing to do with knowledge of the game and has nothing to do with players talent being better than what it is. How can you expect players who reached their ceiling to be better than their ceiling. That's not coaching that's what happens when talent and effort are maximized. The fact you using age to define a game that is Xs and Os. That's basically perpetuating a narrative on him and coaches abilities.
Adapt to this new culture NBA ratings of down because the game has turned into trash all the old school fans know it and all the new Millennials are too dumb to see it
I rocks wit Matt barnes
It's not the coach. It's the players. It's a reflection of the weak mindset we conditioned our society to have the last decade or so.
They still gotta pay him
He was right lol
Trey gonna be the reason nate get fired
Somebody need to tell Thibs this information
Deion is old school
Wait, it's Nate's fault Trae is playing like crap? I don't get it.
He thinks he knows everything
Spoken like a true light skin . Feelings get hurt if get yelled it. If ya do ya job ya have nothing to worry about
A "true light skin"??? WTF?? Now that's old school...in a bad way. Colorism in the 21st century among black people. No wonder we can't work together like a team. And Nate McMillan has always had an expiration date on his coaching style. Players get tired of him. Simple as that. I can't see the Hawks letting Trae go somewhere else, so Nate better start packing his bags!!
Nobody is a fan of fake tough guy Matt Barnes
Steve Kerr old school coach n learned from 2 old school coaches. Pop n Phil. This is why it's really only 1-2 teams always winning now. Lebron with lue, n pat Riley protege n Kerr. All these "new school" coaches have zero rings. Explain that for me plz?
There’s nothing “old school” about Steve Kerr. He’s clearly a let-the-inmates-run-the-asylum guy.
The stars want to be GM's.. We need tge old NBA back. These soft tissues we see today are jokes...
Imo. Nate McMillan is not the problem. Trae is the issue.
No, Nate is the issue. He wears out his welcome over time. That's the way his other coaching tenures have ended. He has early success with his teams, and then about three or four years in, he hits a wall, and his teams turn against him. Similar to Tom Thibideux or Jerry Sloan back in the day. They simply can't adjust to the modern-day athletes.
Matt Barnes might be a jerk, but he's extremely articulate💯
He look like old g easy
Maybe the players?
Don’t forget to repeat the same thing about Thibs? Dude’s been mediocre at best his whole tenure.
