    By far best Rocky mountain video ever!!! , lm a 60 yr.old vintage bike guy so I can definitely relate. I'm going to Moab this spring with a group of younger guys but I couldn't imagine doing it on a vintage bike. Thumbs up again on a great video, can't wait for your next one👍

    I love this concept. Kind of like Roadkill with fixing up old machines and sending it on an adventure. I love the jerry-rigging and ingenuity along with real mechanical knowledge. I literally just watched all 6 episodes in one sitting. Plus the different personalities mesh perfectly. You guys need to keep doing this and it could seriously blow up.

    Oh my, I just watched all 6 vids! Well done you guys! I think the Teamwork was the best asset u guys had, both in the shop and on the Trail. Doing 5 MOH on old beater bikes definitely gives all of you Bragging Rights! Kudos to all off you. Ride On!!!

      Thanks, Larry! Even though I was on a pretty modern bike (450), It was still challenging to say the least. Kudos to the other guys for making on these older bikes. Although, I will say, I rode Ray's 500 for a while and that bike was terrible haha. Ray got the short end of the stick on that part. The 500 climbed good but that was about it. - Chase

    Hey I had an idea, now do the same thing on those $1200 Chinesium bikes! Buy them brand new and see how long they last compared to the old worn out Japanese bikes. Would be interesting to see. I'd bet they break when old Japanese bikes didn't, but who knows!

    one of the best series on TH-cam. I think it needs to be done again but this time put a bike age limit. The best part was seeing the two older bikes doing way better than expected. You guys should fix up those two bikes even more, get them looking new, and auction them for some charity. And that skull was either a badger or racoon. Couldn't get a really good look to decide.

    Love the DT 175!! I'm actually looking for one... or a Suzuki TS185. The more I watch guys ride the newer and taller bikes, the less I feel the need for one. My first bike was a 1975 Kawasaki F11 (250), and aside from not being capable of surviving big jumps, I never had issues with it on any trail. It'll never beat a newer bike in a race, but the lower center of gravity and ability to easily flat foot made it a more enjoyable experience for me.

Its an 86 XR250R motor that was period race built with a bore AND stroke kit to around 305cc, in an 87 CR250 frame and custom aluminum gas tank.. possibly a company built a small handful of these bikes in the early 90's! This was just so fun to watch, with lots of great things to comment on, but the fact that it wasn't done to really promote anything other than the challenge was awesome! I mean, nobody should invest in promoting how they sell obscure clutch parts for a 40 year old YZ125. Obviously, this was a business producing the video, but you guys weren't plugging your brands, just advocating for good cheap fun. I was 100% sure that YZ clutch would be toast a mile or two in, gotta be a skilled rider to not burn up a clutch on a bike with zero bottom end!!!!

    Awesome series, I frequently ride similar sorts of bikes on trail rides and have way more fun than my more modern bike, how about a similar 125cc challenge ?

    Watching this made me want two things.
    1. To buy an 80something YZ125.
    2. To try this trail on my 86 TLR200.
    It looks like these guys had a blast out there and that yz looked as fun as ever!

    Nice content guys, really enjoyed it! Remind me of my trip from Malaysia to the Netherlands with a klx150. It was brand new and only 1800 Euro and it did 35.000km. I'm a noob though with dirt bikes but the thing was fun as hell did my first jumps and offroading with it! Riding on a glacier one handed filming my stupid actions in Pakistan. Thanks for sharing this content with us!

      @@rmatvmc The whole journey from start to finnish, but spec the budget thing was a nice touch, makes it a bit more challenging when having to chose what part you add/replace on the bike. Love to work and ride on old dirtbikes my self.

    Love the challenge concept of cheap and old bikes, keep it up! I a newer Utah'n any advice on where someone can go and rent/learn off road skills before just picking a random KSL bike to start on?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would just try to find a friend that has an extra bike or would lend you theirs. I don't know anywhere that will rent a bike but I've never looked. If you're looking to pick up a bike, we can definitely give you a few suggestions if that's what you're looking for!

    Litteraly had the same idea for me and my friend group a like a year ago.. 500€ total budget but without the bike, and all with simson mopeds from like 1970-80 those are manual 3-4speed 50cc 2 strokes with a huge tuning comunity... We all basicly made awsome but useless machines (mine ended up as a ratrod drag moped.. lowered, 12hp and hella fast, with basicly no brakes and no suspension,it has springs and dampers.. but so tight they dont work..) well we never did that one "ultimate trail" but are still taking those things out to enduro.. over here in Germany you get some great trails...
