I was born in Ferguslie Park, January - 1946, Blackstoun Road. The house is till there, but I wont give the number. It still has the same number as it did 77 years ago, I checked when I was home for a visit in May 2023. I went to Craigielea Primary School (now demolished). I remember my very first teacher, Miss Baird. Then there was Miss Palmer, and one of the greatest teachers I ever knew, Mr. John Bruce. He and I became friends in my adult years. He visited me an my wife here in the USA, way back in 1994. He passed away in 1997. "Feegie Park" always had a reputation of being "rough", and parts of it were, but some of the kindest people you could ever meet, called it home.
That was a great video and didn't look as bad as I expected! I lived in the East end of Paisley for 30 odd years but only ever went in to Ferguslie once when I took a wrong turning on my motorcycle. That was around 1979... got bricks thrown at me by the Fegs so I exited fast! Apparently my father grew up there in the 30's-50's "when it was nice".
I went out with a girl from paisley for 8 years, met her in Derby around 1971 and she often went back to visit her Grandma, Rough was putting it mildly (Ferguslie Park not the Girl) no wonder she left and moved South. Only thing I enjoyed abt the visits was when she took me to see St Mirren play at Love Street, still look out for their results now.
@@himialiabtedrst not now definitely no lol I liked it when I lived there only because it's all I knew.i remember mainly glue bags and beer cans when I was out playing. It was very rough but people are evil now. Great trip down memory lane though 👍🏻
I was a volunteer working with under privileged children 40 years ago...cant remenber for which organization but i sure remenber that it was a rough area not to say a dump.
Feegie has improved a lot in the last decade or so. A lot of the scum who used to reside there have either moved out or kicked the bucket. I wasn’t particularly enamoured when in the 90’s, a feegie problem family was settled in a house next to me just so that a social worker could get one scumbag family off their caseload. Thankfully the parents are now brown bread, the son is in jail and I now have nice neighbours.
