    So, ska video next? Those two genres have always been linked and started borrowing a lot from each other by the 80's.

    It just happened that we formed a band, and I have to play the drums (I’m not a drummer though) and yes.. It’s a punk band. now, I’m learning how to play the drums. Luckily, I stumbled upon some of your videos, and I subscribed right away. It makes me want to play the drums every time I watch your videos. I love the way how you explain things and everything. Thank you for the inspiration Emma. ❤

    Check out Byron from Pennywise, or the drummer(s) from Strung out for a good example of technical prowess in punk drumming. 😀 Thank you Emma for another great lesson ❤

      You'll get there. There are a lot of mid tempo songs in the genre from bands like Rise Against (to use a better known name), and you can always simplify it down to what you can handle.
      And a lot of punk songs are short, like two minutes or less. Perfect for a quick workout until your foot doesn't want to move anymore. Do that once or twice per practice session.
      Playing paradiddles with my feet, whenever I was just sitting down or standing around, helped build up the strength needed. And without the bounce from the bass drum, it works your muscle out twice as hard.
      Give it a week or two and you'll notice quite a difference right away. A lot of punk musicians didn't have lessons or TH-cam, and ended up really good. If you check out the Germs first demo, before Joan Jett produced their only album, it's honestly awful. But the drummer went on to play in big acts, with their guitarist in Nirvana and their original drummer being the singer/founder of the Go-Go's.

      @@scottwrathfon9872 thank you. I've been spending a lot of time working on my foot speed. It's just going to take time as you mentioned. Somedays I can throw a kick in on the 1, A of 2, 3 and A of 4 at 90 beats per minute for a while and then the next day I struggle to do it at 70 beats per minutes. I'll keep at it tho

    • @scottwrathfon9872
      @scottwrathfon9872 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lobbyrobby I totally get you. I don't play double bass, and honestly don't like it outside of being used in fills or brief parts of songs. But I desperately wish I did learn to play it earlier, because it took quite a while to get my left leg to play at a decent speed, and that helps a ton with keeping time or playing some intricate stuff with the hi-hat.
      The only thing I really enjoyed about my Drume trial was that they had play-along practice sessions that specifically targeted things like limb independence, building up your left hand, and they felt a lot less monotonous than just playing a pattern out of a book, while usually sneaking in some other food habits and workouts.

    • @lobbyrobby
      @lobbyrobby 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scottwrathfon9872 before I bought my drumset I thought I'd like to play double bass. Now that I'm learning I have zero desire. I'm just doing this for the fun of it. I don't have any desire to play in a band or anything like that. I can't imagine how much effort it would take to get good at using my left foot.
